August development news | The Merchant's interlude

Hello, Adventurers,

In previous devlogs, we explained how to use the inventory and items in Worlds of Aria. Let’s recap what you can do with them:

 • Store an item in your inventory
 • Equip an item
 • Consum an item
 • Pass an item to your friends’ inventory — you won’t be able to take it back though
 • Use items during object phases to trade them

As we are still improving this feature of the game right now, we are happy to introduce a new scene we've started to develop since the beginning of July: the merchant interlude!
What is it about?
As you progress through the game, you’ll collect more and more items. And your inventory has limited slots.

This scene will allow you to sell your unused items for coins, or if you feel like you need special equipment because you were unsuccessful during dice roll phases for example, you’ll be able to buy equipment or consumable objects that’ll help you continue your adventure peacefully.

That’s why you also need to manage your gold! You can still try to convince your friends to lend you money so you can buy something…

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments or on our Discord server!

Production point of July | Meet the demoness !

Hello adventurers!

Worlds of Aria is full of dangerous places... And yet, you'll need to explore them anyways! In this blogpost, we will introduce two of the most ferocious fantastic creatures living there. Now you're aware of it, you must plan a solid fighting strategy!
Meet the demoness!
Scene recap

The scene takes place in Cat's Alley, a large royal alley linking the wall gate to Varna's palace.

Our heroes arrived in Varna and stumbled upon a demoness that broke the big wall's gate! With the help of 3 other mages, they must repel her so they can cast a powerful spell that will build up a protection barrier surrounding the city.

Axare, King of Varna, asks the heroes to find a warlock in Eistenpoli. This is the only person able to annihilate the demoness for good...

Getting ready for the fight

The mages of Varna explain that the heroes must repel the demoness and lead them to the door.

The demoness will attack the mages during two choice phases. It is possible to help them but... you could lose some HP in return!

You'll get ready for the fight during the first choice phase. A mage offers a recovering spell, another a shield spell or you can look for loot and so on.

Careful, the demoness will have more than one trick up her sleeve!

Fighting the demoness

You need to protect the mages of Varna! If you fail, one of them will perish. If they all perish, it's a game over!

When the demoness grabs someone, they're captured and cannot move. A choice will enable other players to set them free. But if players fail, the hand will take the character away.

Don't make a fool of yourself, you could be the next standing between her claws!
Another creature ?
You might come across another creature during your adventure: the sea king Glooton!

Who is it? It is a divinity living sleepily in the Biting Sea, close to the Aria palace. As a capricious soul, it likes that humans flatter, make offerings, or beg it. But if you ask it for a service without begging, he'll destroy your boat without warning.

You'll meet him only if you are brave enough and unleash your creative potential!

2 weeks left to try Worlds of Aria demo!

Hi Adventurers!

We just want to inform you that we will remove the demo from the Steam page on July 1st!

As we have collected a lot of precious feedback from you and want to focus on the release of the game right now, the demo won’t get as many updates as we planned, so we prefer offering potential content a bit later than letting this demo get old.

Thank you to all those who have already played the demo, you can still enjoy it with your friends while it’s still here, don’t hesitate to share with us your best moments on our Discord server!

Production point of June | World Map & new environments

Hello, Adventurers!

Almost 2,000 of you have played Worlds of Aria demo and provided us with feedback that will enable us to improve many aspects of the game, for which we'd like to thank you wholeheartedly! We'll make sure to listen to your feedback to make the experience clearer and more fun.
The market scene: before vs after

A whole new structure
An Ulule backer wrote the quest which is the following: Luxphos, a biologist, offers the group to pay for their toll if they find his precious black hen: Hennifer.

As they are looking for the hen, they stumble upon the chicken coop of a skewer merchant: Iznoflood Patrosou. The group will interact with Iznoflood through different choices, discreetly figure out how to infiltrate the coop, and finally coordinate with each other to catch the hen.

Depending on their choices, they will catch the hen back or return empty-handed. When they come back to the toll, the group can choose between giving the hen back to Luxphos or keeping her to themselves.
Environment polish
If you follow us on Twitter, you may have noticed that the market environment and its narrative ark have changed! We added more environment-related designs, items to collect, and new environmental interactions as if you were there!
A new object phase
The market scene is the more profitable scene! You can earn up to 20 coins and a golden egg depending on the choices! You can earn back a lot of HP as well.

In this new object phase, Iznoflood announces a skewer contest. By dragging the object and consuming them, the player who will eat the more skewers will get a reward! They will get closer to the ultimate goal: taking Hennifer back, locked in the chicken coop.
Others

The World Map
The World Map gives a short preview of the geographical context of the narration. On the map fresco, you can see a scrolling scenery, whose each geographical element represents a scene, symbolically. The characters float through the fresco for a few seconds from the previous scene to the next one. This is a small theatrical piece that introduces new elements and transitions from one scene to another.
Enjoy the demo!
If you have not played the demo yet, don't forget to gather your bravest adventurers with the Remote Play Together to dive into the Aria universe, where everything is possible, including betraying your companions...

We want your feedback to improve the game, so feel free to share your thoughts on our feedback form.
