WooLoop Major Update Patch Notes

First Week is a Success - Thank You!

WooLoop has been downloaded and played by so many of you! Your reception of the game has completely blown us away and we can't thank you enough! ❤

You have all played enough collectively for over 4 and a half years of playtime! For one week of gameplay that is staggering! Well done!

All of your feedback and comments are welcome, thank you to everyone who has helped identify improvements and suggestions for the game, a lot of which we have addressed in this patch.
Please keep your comments coming, either on Discord, Steam or even on our Website, so we can keep improving WooLoop to the best of our abilities.

A Note on Achievements

This patch brings Gallery 5, which was missing from the launch of the game. The Gallery has 21 images just like all the rest, however; Only the first 6 levels have achievements tied to them. The reason for this is that we have hit the limit of 100 achievements that are linked to new games.

Once we pass Steam's checks and become an official release on Steam, we will be updating the Achievement list to include the rest of Gallery 5 and beyond. Thank you for your understanding.

Next Weeks DLC

In case you missed it, we have the first DLC for WooLoop releasing next Friday! The Fantasy DLC adds a whole new Gallery to the game with 21 new images for you to Loop!

All images are in the Fantasy Genre so will cover things magical and wonderful from start to finish.

  • Gallery 5! - We finished the levels for Gallery 5, so there are an additional 17 levels to play!
  • Dark Mode Improvements - Multiple changes to dark mode, to make the game much easier to play at night!
  • New "Always Show Rope Length" Setting (Default Off) - When enabled, the currently selected rope length and progress is visible in the top left of the screen. This is also viewable by pressing tab.
  • Main Menu Scrolling - The main menu gallery scroll position is remembered when you return from a level.
  • New "Disable Autopanning" Setting (Default Off) - When enabled, the automatic movement you get when completing a rope is disabled.
  • New "Autopanning Speed" Setting (Default 1x) - Adjusts the speed of the auto movement.
  • New "Disable Keyboard Cursor Movement" Setting (Default Off) - From this update panning with the keyboard will also move the mouse cursor. Enabling this setting disables the behaviour.
  • New "Large Cursor" Setting (Default Off) - When enabled, the cursor is swapped with a much larger and visible version.
  • New "Zoom Speed" Setting (Default 1x) - Alters the speed at which you can zoom in and out of a level.
  • New "Scroll Speed" Setting (Default 1x) - Alters the speed at scrolling with the mouse wheel affects UI.

      • Fixed rope instructions around Hungary.
      • Adjusted pins around Greenland to ensure instructions are correct.
      • Removed Taiwan. We have received lots of anger and negative reviews regarding Taiwan being represented as a separate country from China. We didn't intend to take a political stance on this issue for one side or the other, it certainly isn't our place. We apologize for any offence we may have caused, and hope that we can put this behind us. Removing the island of Taiwan completely allows us to not be forced to take a side.

      • Adjusted the image's borders so that pins aren't clipping the frame.

      • Fixed an inconsistency in the pattern
  • Fixed a bug where the percentage complete was rounding up and not down for level and gallery completion.
  • Fixed a bug where the game wouldn't launch on Linux
  • Major performance improvements for the main menu (specifically loading the level screenshots)
  • Unselecting rope mid-route now sets the mouse cursor position to the end of the rope instead of the middle of the screen. (Sadly this only works on PC full-screen or borderless fullscreen modes)
  • Panning with the keyboard now pauses auto panning in a similar way to right-clicking does.
  • Fixed a bug where Gallery Select buttons wouldn't correctly represent a player's new game plus progress.
  • When starting a rope, the string now only sticks to the starting instruction. This should make it easier to get started with a route.
  • The scroll bar you see in the level now uses the correct art assets.

[h2]A Note on Gallery 5[/h2]
You will notice Gallery 5 is marked as "Coming Soon" - this is because we didn't manage to get every level finished and tested in time for today as we don't believe in the "Crunch culture" that is common in the games industry.

Do not worry though, the Gallery will become available over the next week or so! This means you will be kept supplied with new levels until the 1st DLC releases on the 27th!

1 Week to go!

That's right, WooLoop is right around the corner! We are so excited about the release and hope you are too.

Officially releasing next Friday, the 13th of January - A Spooky date for sure with all the nerves we are feeling! Make sure you head over to the store page now to Wishlist the game before release to get notified as soon as you can play.

What's left to do?

3 main things are in progress for release.

[h3]Levels[/h3] We still have about 1 Gallery's worth of levels to complete for next week; this may seem like a lot which is why we have hired some extra help for the next couple of months! If you are in our Discord you will have seen a "Toastie_Icy" who is our new Level Designer helping Rob make the final levels for WooLoop.

[h3]Bug Fixing and QA Testing[/h3] Each new level needs playing to ensure there are no problems with the level before launch. As well as this, there are still a few minor bugs that are being corrected; each one needs double-checking and thorough testing.

[h3]Marketing[/h3] As a small indie company, we have little to no marketing budget, so all marketing is done in-house. This week we went full throttle on our media outreach, contacting numerous press sites, bloggers, content creators and reviewers. This is the majority of the work done but it will need constant monitoring and input from us up to release.

We are all back to work for 2023 and hope you have all had an enjoyable Holiday and New Year!

We have relaxed as much as we can to get ready for the next couple of very busy weeks as we get ready for the release of WooLoop!

Only 10 days until release!

We are counting down the final days until release and we are very excited!
We are also very busy with the final preparations.

Rob is currently working through the final graphical bugs we have found in order to make sure the game is as clean as possible for release.
Lee is starting all of the contacts and messages to content creators, Steam curators and press companies for our main marketing push.

All that is left is a number of levels that are still left to be made, in order to hit this deadline we are very excited to say we have hired a temporary level designer to help Rob with our level creation!

WooLoop Update and Pricing Model

WooLoop will be Free!

Here at ToastieLabs, we believe games should be for everyone. With that in mind, like some of our other titles on Steam, we release games for free and offer optional DLC at the lowest price we can on Steam $0.99!

The game will be Free and offer 5 Galleries (plus 1 Bonus Gallery) of string art to complete! Each Gallery will contain 21 unique pieces of art for you to create.
After some quick maths, this means you will get over 100 levels to play for free when you download WooLoop!

[h2]DLC[/h2]
In order to provide even more levels for you to play, we are committing to offering 12 months of DLC, 1 DLC for each month of 2023!
Each DLC will contain a new Gallery of 21 pieces of art, we are going to be offering these DLC at $0.99 (the lowest price Steam allows).
Each DLC will launch on the 4th Friday of each month, with the exception of December's planned DLC "Advent", which will feature 24 levels and slight changes to the release schedule which we will confirm at a later date.

Over the course of the 12 months of releases, that will be an additional 255 Levels to play!

We hope this will be plenty to keep you entertained through the year 2023.

Game Progress

It has been a hectic couple of weeks where we have made many updates to the appearance of the game in order to look as good as possible for the Game Trailer which we have just started editing!

New Features
  • Allow players to use Right-Click to move without triggering the UI snap-back
  • Added toggle click to pick up and put down the rope as an alternative to holding left click
  • Added background colours to levels

Bug Fixes:
  • Rope clipping on Tree House Level
  • Fixed instructions turning yellow when the next instruction is anti-clockwise
  • Fixed UI instruction wiggle
  • Fixed off-screen instructions breaking


Most of the adjustments were for visual updates in order to make the game as aesthetic as possible when recording clips for the game trailer which will be released in the coming weeks.

This along with multiple new levels as we are ramping up level creation in preparation for sharing Early Access keys for marketing purposes!
