Hotfix 1.2.2 is now live!

Expeditioners,

We have just rolled out a patch to Steam which fixes and changes the following:

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a soft lock caused by stunning the Grown Bourgeon right after it eats an Expedition Member
  • Fixed an issue where upgraded Tints that were not restocked to full capacity could be lost after returning to the menu
  • Replaced a placeholder texture with the correct visual asset
  • Fixed rare soft lock issues on the World Map:
Player could get stuck near a cliff north of the Ancient Sanctuary
Player could get stuck in a specific area in the Flying Waters level
  • Fixed an issue where a Glaise could spawn in an idle state if Monoco defeated an enemy with Glaise’s Earthquakes skill

Localization French: corrected AP cost in tutorial
German: Update to one loc string
Chinese (Simplified & Traditional): fixed tutorial text and icon mix-ups

This will show as Changelist 56289 on the menu screen.

We are still working on a series of fixes and improvements for the coming weeks, and we will share more on that very soon. Until then!

Tomorrow Comes

Best Clair Obscur Expedition 33 attributes for all characters

What are the best Expedition 33 attributes? Like most RPGs, Clair Obscur includes a leveling system that lets you invest points into a character's stats to improve their health, attack power, and so on. Expedition members gain three attribute points every time they level up, which can be spent in the Upgrade Attributes menu accessible at any Expedition Flag.

The best attributes for each character in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 partially depend on your Expedition 33 weapons of choice, since their performance scales with the attribute grades attached to them. However, our top picks support the core playstyle of each expedition member in the fantasy game, whether you're running the best Expedition 33 builds or prefer to experiment with Expedition 33 Pictos and weapon synergies.

No, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 wasn't "made" by 30 people

If you've read my review of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you'll know I loved it. It's pretty handily my game of the year so far, and an all-timer RPG besides. It's a hugely impressive piece of game magic, and I'm certainly not trying to diminish that.

However, the culture being what it is, I keep seeing the game's quality weaponised against the state of game development in general. Even celebrations are often accompanied by some variation on the phrase "made by just 30 developers". It's good to be impressed by things! I was impressed too. And I generally agree with the sentiment that game development has become untenably bloated. It's a very tasty narrative, but the figures are a bit sloppy. No need to listen to me, anyway. The credits are actually very easy to find.
