Smash-hit RPG Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has made a lot of waves this year, primarily for its enchanting story, mesmerizing style, and flowing, punchy combat. But there's also been a lot of talk around the size of developer Sandfall Interactive, which boasts a relatively small headcount compared to big, triple-A studios. In the wake of such a broadly positive reception, you might expect that team to expand, but Sandfall's co-founder and Expedition 33's lead programmer says he thinks it's exactly where it needs to be.

The stylish, story-driven French JRPG has won hearts and minds this year, blending a sincere, heart-wrenching story with the perfect level of silliness, all the flash and style of Persona, and some of the most satisfying combat since Fromsoftware's Sekiro. Now, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 patch 1.4.0 introduces one of the most-requested additions, along with more quality-of life upgrades and fixes.

  • [p]Fixed the Rocher holding a crystal occasionally despawning after reentering the Stone Wave Cliffs[/p]
  • [p]Fixed some players being teleported behind the Monolith upon loading a save [/p]
  • [p]Fixed Gameplay modifiers being applied to a New Game save when enabled on other saves [/p]
  • [p]Fixed landing as Esquie without the party spawning, leading to input loss [/p]
  • [p]Fixed the Fog on Flying Manor covering the screen and blocking the view on Steam Deck [/p]

  • [p]Fixed journals vanishing after loading a Save File that was created at the exact moment of picking up that journal [/p]
[p]The following two trophies should now pop for you when you load your save if you were effected by these bugs:[/p]
  • [p]Fixed "Expeditioner" and "Trailbreaker" achievements not unlocking if the characters reach a level higher than 33 or 66 after a battle[/p]
  • [p]Fixed  'Connoisseur' and 'Follow The Trail' achievements not unlocking after collecting all required items on some savefiles [/p]

  • [p]Various environmental bugfixes, tweaks and visual polish across multiple levels for a more immersive experience.[/p]
