Windblown Single-Player Demo Now Live!

[h2]You read that right! The Windblown Single-Player Demo is now live![/h2]

[h3]Now, this is a little earlier than we originally planned, but wanted to open the doors ahead of Steam Next Fest kicking off on Monday and give everyone an extra weekend to enjoy the game![/h3]

In this demo you'll get access to a few features of the game, which is hopefully enough to wet your appetite for our full Early Access release coming on October 24th.

Let's takes a look at what you'll get your hands on in this Demo!

[h2]Weapons, Equipment, and Powers[/h2]

In this version of the game you'll have access to several starting weapons, which should be enough to help get you through the challenges ahead. Plus maybe another one thrown in to unlock, if you're good enough... ๐Ÿ‘€

You'll also gain access to a handful of trinkets and gifts that should help give you a taste of what a Windblown build looks like.



[h2]Biomes[/h2]

You'll gain access to the first Biome in Windblown - Golem Gardens.

It's the perfect, picturesque location for a Leaper's first journey out into the unknown! Just be careful of the dogs with guns for faces...





[h2]Save Carries Over[/h2]

Something exciting to announce is that any progress made within the Demo will carry over into the main game! That way you can brag to your friends about how many times you died to a Golem's sword when you jump into Multiplayer together!

You'll find Souvenir's while exploring in the game which cannot be unlocked in the Demo, but they'll become active when you jump into Early Access. Just make sure you don't delete your save file before jumping in on the 24th!

[h2]Exclusive Skin[/h2]

Okay, I tried to find the perfect image to showcase this skin, but I feel like this GIF sends the perfect message...



By playing the Demo you'll unlock the exclusive Guinea Pig skin! He's no joke though... How many Guinea Pigs do you know that walk with such purpose!?

You'll get access to this little guy from the moment you start the game, no special unlock required!

[h2]The Demo is Limited[/h2]

The Demo will be available until a few hours before the Early Access kicks off on the 24th! So make sure you jump in ahead of time to take the game for a spin, and to grab the Exclusive skin!

[h2]Discord[/h2]

The Windblown Discord server is now open!

This is the perfect place to chat with other Leapers, share build ideas, and give feedback on the game! It's also a great place to find other people to play with when we hit Early Access later this month!

Oh, and on top of that, we're happy to announce that we'll be launching a Single Player demo in the upcoming Steam Next Fest! [h3]Jump in from October 14th and experience Windblown for yourself![/h3]

[h3]P.S. Any progress you make in the demo will carry over into the Early Access![/h3]

The last month has been huge for the development team, as we hit multiple milestones and delivered several builds of the game! Who knew making an early access build, preview build, AND single player demo would be a lot of work, eh?

We also added several huge additions to the game, including weapons, systems, and more! Let's take a look.

[h2]3 New Weapons[/h2]

  • Sirocco - We wanted to add another ranged option closer to the beginning of the game. We also wanted something more akin to a "magic" item, so flame firing Siroccon was born!
  • Anchor Boom - A slow but heavy hitting... well... anchor. It does shoot cannon balls though! Perfect for builds that have a quick way to trigger alterattacks, like the Fish Knife or Shield.
  • Eye Blade - We won't spoil too much with this one, but it's an absolute monster that you'll encounter later on in runs ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ




[h2]New Skin(s)[/h2]

A fun part of Windblown is the cute characters you get to play as! Which is of course something we'll be expanding on as we work through Early Access.

And to celebrate this awesome achievement for our team, we're giving everyone who plays the upcoming Steam Next Fest Single Player demo a free Guinea Pig skin!

Guinea Pigs have mohawks... Right?



Plus we may have added one more skin to the game... But you'll have to explore and have some luck on your side to find that ๐Ÿคซ


[h2]New Difficulty Settings[/h2]

A huge part of any roguelite is it's replayability, right? So based on our players feedback we've introduced new difficulties to the game!

A new difficulty unlocks every time you complete a run and beat the final boss (up to a current cap). This has added a huge new challenge to the game, as enemies are tougher, hit harder, and will send you back to the Arc faster than ever!



[h2]Steam Deck Verified[/h2]

Another huge milestone for the team was getting Windblown Steam Deck Verified! Surprisingly, we achieved this in one attempt!

Either the game is just perfect for Steam Deck, we're good at what we do, or just got very lucky... ๐Ÿ‘€



[h2]Steam Achievements[/h2]

We also spent some time adding a whole bunch of Steam achievements! 16 to be exact.

After all, It'd be rude not to add something for the completionists!



[h2]New Languages[/h2]

We've had a bunch of players asking us for additional languages to be added to the game. Now, this isn't as simple as it sounds, but we've done our best to add more in ahead of Early Access!

You will now be able to experience Windblown in:

Dead Cells developer's new action-roguelike Windblown is getting a demo and Early Access release this month

Windblown is an action roguelite much like Dead Cells, the previous game from developer Motion Twin, but it trades sidescrolling 'vania vibes for a 3D and more colourful world, and adds co-op for up to three pals. That sounds plenty appealing, and it now has a release date: October 24th.


Better still, on October 14th, it's getting a singleplayer demo as part of the Steam Next Fest.

When is the Windblown release date? This delightful action roguelike from the creators of Dead Cells was announced at The Game Awards 2023, and it immediately stole our attention with its fast-paced combat and colorful cartoon violence.
