Feisty Fauna News

Beta version coming soon!

We are hard at work preparing for the beta launch of Feisty Fauna! We will be releasing many new features, including:
  • split-screen multiplayer (up to 4 players, local / Steam remote play-together)
  • cat ninja minions for Vanilla
  • many more skills
  • customizable difficulty, so you can adjust the game to be just right for you
  • damage-over-time effects (e.g., burning from fire)
  • better telegraphing of attacks (e.g., a circle filling up with red)

and more!

As part of our beta launch, we will be removing the following from our demo:
  • Halloween world and costumes (don't worry, they'll be back later this year!)

Going forward from our beta launch, here are some of the big features we're planning to incorporate soon:
  • Honey will be playable and can charm enemies to join her side
  • A roll/dodge mechanic that you can manually activate (or automatically if you prefer)
  • Other status effects, e.g., freezing, slime

Do let us know (e.g., through the Steam Discussion Board) if there are any big features that you're looking forward to seeing, and/or if you're interested to playtest our beta version before it's launched!

Twitch integration bugfix

We just made a small bugfix, so the game should no longer freeze if the Twitch connection gets stuck connecting. Do let us know if you notice any bugs, Twitch-related or otherwise!

Android demo, and QoL updates

We've put Feisty Fauna's demo on the Google Play store. The full game is not planned to be released there, but you can now play the demo on your mobile devices ːsteamhappyː

In addition, we have done a number of Quality-of-Life updates to the demo:
  • The player can now be controlled by clicking on the screen to direct where the player should go
  • Increased font size and visibility of text in level-up perks

Other updates and bug fixes:
  • Lighting settings were updated to use baked lights
  • Creatures now use a different method for path-finding that should be faster
  • Updated grazers (e.g., cows) to have the Idle animation while stationary, instead of foraging which sometimes caused a head bob
  • Fixed occlusion shading for Halloween creatures
  • Fixed a bug where the fox boss would keep running while turning in place to face the player before a bite

More accessibility options

We have added a Graphics Quality setting to the game (high / low), which should allow lower-end computers to play the game more smoothly. If you have an older computer, we would love to hear if the game runs smooth as butter, or stutters.

Changes:
  • Added Quality option in the Graphics Settings
  • Added left/right clickable arrows in Options so mouse users can click them

Real-time stats added!

We just added a new feature to our demo: real-time statistics of your perks! You can now view the total damage, damage per second, and health gained/mitigated in-game, in real time! Please use the key, or either shoulder buttons on the gamepad to toggle between different statistics.

We're aware that some perks are slightly overpowered 😉(ahem, minions). There will be a round of perk balancing after we have added more variety of perks!

Changes:
  • Real-time stats can now be toggled with the Tab key, or either shoulder buttons on the gamepad
  • Player characters no longer wear Halloween costumes by default
  • You can still toggle between Halloween costumes with the Ctrl key, or any of the 4 buttons on the gamepad
