Haunted House Renovator final playtest is officially LIVE! 🛠️👻

If you've signed up, you'll find the game ready and waiting in your Steam Library - just hit download and start renovating!

We recommend deleting the 'Saved' folder from game's installation directory before you start playtesting the game!

1. Right-click on the game in your Steam directory
   
2. Hover over 'Manage'
   
3. Select 'Browse local files'
   
4. Open the 'Haunted' folder
   
5. Delete the 'Saved' folder
   

This might solve a lot of potential problems.

This is a near-final version of the game, we're just days away from launch on Wednesday, April 16th! 🚀 We're 100% focused on bugfixing. That’s why your feedback now is more important than ever.



In this playtest, you'll revisit the familiar starting location from the original demo but this time, it's been fully upgraded with tons of improvements and polish! It's the perfect chance to see for yourself just how far the game has come and help us give it that final shine💡

And attention! If you encounter any problems with the game, they may be resolved by deleting the folder named 'Saved' located at: C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Local\Haunted

If you've played the demo before, there's a chance the game might run into resolution issues, making it difficult to click buttons properly. In such a case, deleting the folder mentioned above should fix the problem.

In your adventure, you’ll come across various hauntings. But did you know that some of them can actually become your friendly sidekicks? If you manage to tame a haunting, it will stay by your side and assist you in your missions. Sounds intriguing, right? 👀

[h2]How to tame a haunting?[/h2]
Taming a haunting isn’t about brute force, you need to banish them in a kind and respectful way. 💙 If you’re too mean, they won’t stick around, so be careful! Each type of haunting requires a different method to be tamed, and the first step is always the same: take a photo to analyze its behavior. 📸 Once you understand how to interact with it properly, you’ll need to complete a mini-game to successfully capture it. 🎮

There are six unique types of hauntings that can become your companions. However, you can’t have two of the same kind at once. If you happen to tame a duplicate, don’t worry, you’ll receive a nice cash reward instead! 💰

Before starting a new contract, you can choose one companion to assist you. 🏠 They will follow you through the mansion, providing both moral support and practical assistance. Each companion has a special ability that can help make your renovation easier. For example, some of them can dispose of trash for you (how convenient is that!).

[h2]Steam Deck Compatibility 🎮[/h2]

We know how important portability is to many players, so we’re putting in extra effort to ensure Haunted House Renovator runs smoothly on Steam Deck. Our goal is to achieve Steam Deck Verified status from day one, but we want to note that whether we reach this status depends on Valve's final approval. ✅

Right now, our internal version is running well on the device, but we’re still working to resolve a small issue with text size on the Steam Deck screen, some fonts are currently a bit too small. 👉👈

Our team is making sure that no matter which handheld you prefer, you can jump into the game at launch without waiting for post-release optimizations.

New month has begun, which means fresh updates from our developers! This time, we’re introducing you to one of the most important hauntings in the game – Wraiths! 👻

[h2]Beware of the Wraiths![/h2]
Wraiths can be found in every location, but don’t expect them to be friendly! 😈 One of your main goals in game is to banish them all. They are mysteriously connected to each other and to you.

You’ll discover their history through cutscenes, collectibles, the bestiary, and interactive painting puzzles. 🖼️🔎

[h3]When do they appear?[/h3]
Wraiths awaken once after hauntings awake. They start rising from their eternal sleep when you’ve made enough progress in a location. You can check how close hauntings are to waking up by looking at this progress bar at the top of the screen:

Most hauntings are dormant when you start a contract. As you perform tasks, they will eventually awaken. This progress bar informs you how close you are to unleashing new hauntings - including Wraiths.

👀 Some Wraiths patrol their territory, while others remain still until you make the mistake of disturbing them with sudden movements. If a patrolling or enraged Wraith spots you, it will chase you down! 🏃‍♂️💨

⚠️ If you get caught, you’ll become possessed! You’ll start causing mischief around the house until you manage to break free by winning a minigame.

Every Wraith avoids a certain place in the mansion. Find it, and you’ll be safe at least for a while. 🏠

[h3]How to Banish a Wraith?[/h3]
Each Wraith has a unique banishing method. To learn how to get rid of them, you must photograph five items connected to the Wraith. 📸 Doing so will reveal more about its story and weaknesses.

Once you gather enough information, you’ll unlock the special banishing ritual. To make things easier, you can purchase special upgrades to help you along the way. 🛠️

To banish a Wraith for good, you’ll need to buy a magical circle and place specific ritual objects on it. If you perform the ritual correctly, the Wraith will vanish forever! ✨
