Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical News

We hope you have been enjoying your ‘time to shine’ with our idols in Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical.

Thank you again for all of your feedback and bug reports. They have enabled us to investigate and address a number of issues which have been fixed in today’s patch.

The most commonly reported issue was the uneven volume levels, and that has now been corrected. Our gods are now in perfect harmony with one another - no more extra quiet Muses or super sonic Goddesses to be seen!

In today's patch we have:

• Fixed voiceover equalisation, which brings the volume of each character’s VO into alignment.
  
• Fixed a number of issues that were causing crashes.
  
• Fixed various issues where binding actions to specific keys didn't work as intended.
  
• Fixed some localisation issues.
  
• Removed brackets from some speaker labels to make them more readable. (A fond farewell to ‘Ibothi’ and ‘Ialli’)

Hello everyone!

We appreciate the patience you've given us as we've been investigating this save issue. We believe we have found the cause, and we're here today with a hotfix that we believe will resolve the save issues you've been experiencing.

At present, we believe the issue came up due to the way in which the game was handling initial save files - that is, demo save files had the potential to cause issues with players games if they had them, including crashes. To prevent this, the system is taught to wipe these initial saves to ensure you don't encounter crashes and an unplayable game. However, the way in which the system detects these saves made an error, causing it to identify your first new saves as potential demo saves.

This also accounts for why players do not and have not (at least from our reports) encountered the issue again. We've made adjustments to how the system checks these files and are pushing this build now.

You should take care not to load any saves from your demo playthrough as it will likely cause issues. Overwriting those saves with new games will ensure everything runs smoothly.

Hi everyone,

Firstly, thank you for your support and celebration on the release of Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical. We are so grateful to see you enjoying the game!

We've had a few bug reports, but our biggest focus has been those of you affected by issues with save files and progression loss. As avid choice-based narrative fans ourselves, we know how frustrating this can be to lose your progress.

We're getting closer to a fix that should resolve this for players who are booting the game for the first time. Our team are going to be working this weekend to resolve it for you. At this stage, this bug only seems to be affecting players' initial save file - that is your first created save, regardless of save slot. No one has encountered the issue after this point that we know of when they start a second save. If you have, please let us know via the support form below.

In the interim, we ask that any player launching the game for the first time do the following steps:

1. Launch the game
2. Agree or Decline Gamesight's prompt
3. Exit the game using 'Exit Game'
4. Relaunch the game

If you'd like to be extra cautious, you can play the first scene until you see the save logo in the top left corner, then exit using 'Exit Game'. While we can't guarantee this will stop every issue from occurring with progression and saves, this should allow you to start a new game with no save file issues.

We are so grateful for your patience. As a small team in a sometimes challenging timezone, every bit of kindness and Grace (we had to) is appreciated. Your reports allow us to investigate these issues swiftly and effectively, and we know it takes time and energy to submit them.
