Dear Crew,

Thank you all very much for the continued support and feedback you've provided ever since the Between Horizons demo went live in early April.

As of today, the demo is no longer available until a completely revamped version goes live. We've made this decision because the demo was no longer a good representation of the game in its current state. In fact, it never really captured the more open-ended investigation gameplay that the full version of Between Horizons will offer.

We want to fix that in the reworked demo, but we cannot provide a release date for it yet. There have already been countless additions, fixes, and upgrades to the game, a lot of them based on your invaluable feedback. However, that doesn't automatically mean that there is a release-ready slice of gameplay fit for a demo.

Between Horizons is still coming out later this year, and it's possible that the new demo won't go live much earlier than the full game. Between Horizons is a 2.5D pixel art detective adventure which puts you in control of a passenger aboard a massive spaceship known as the Zephyr. This brief demo will give you an opportunity to experience the enriching atmosphere of the Zephyr as a member of the ship's middle generation, a crew tasked with ensuring that the ship will reach its destination, but will tragically not live to see it reach there. This taste of gameplay is just the tip of the iceberg of a grand conspiracy that threatens to derail the flight of the Zephyr, and doom its crew.

Between Horizons from indie dev DigiTales Interactive (the creative minds behind the successful Sci-Fi Noir Lacuna), deals with a massive spaceship carrying advocates for mankind on a mission to find an oasis away from a tormented and destroyed Earth.
But what about the middle generations; the people born on the ship who never asked to be part of the mission and won’t live to see the end of the 130-year journey?

If that sounds familiar, it might just be because it is. Millennials all the way through to generation alpha are generally feeling a pretty deep sense of doom, in that there’s hope for a better “tomorrow,”, but will they be around to see it, and if not, is it worth making sacrifices for?

In the latest Between Horizons devlog, the developers dive into the inner workings of the upcoming sci-fi detective adventure, explaining that its semi open world and branching narratives allow for players to determine their own destiny upon the ship, and think about every action and consequent reaction. Underneath the game's compelling and plausible sci-fi plot lies a number of thought-provoking problems, inviting players to weigh intergenerational responsibility against personal freedom.
