We’re excited to announce that Mark of the Deep will officially launch on January 24, 2025.

Updated Demo – New Challenges Await
To give you a fresh taste of the action, we’ve updated the free demo with some exciting new features:

• Speedrun Mode: Race against time with a built-in runtime counter.
  
• No-Hit Challenges: Master combat by taking no damage.
  
• No-Death Runs: Test your resolve and make it through without a single misstep.
  

These additions offer a challenging experience for newcomers and seasoned explorers alike.

Hi everyone,

We’re so excited to finally share some big updates about Mark of the Deep. First things first, the game now has a release window. It’s coming in January 2025 to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

We also have a brand-new trailer to share, and we’re really proud of how it turned out. It gives you a deeper look at the cursed island, some of the enemies you’ll face, and the pirate adventure we’ve been crafting. Check it out and let us know what you think.

On top of that, we’re thrilled to announce a partnership with Light Up Games, a publisher that shares our love for unique and replayable games.

Their support means we’ll be able to bring Mark of the Deep to even more players around the world, and we’re excited to have them on board.

At Mad Mimic, we’ve always been committed to the highest standards, while also putting our fans first when it comes to making decisions. Because of this, we’ve had to make the difficult choice to postpone the game’s release for a couple of months. The game itself is nearly complete, and we hope you’ve had a chance to try it through the demos and beta builds we’ve released on Steam over the past few months. However, in order to address some of the challenges with porting and ensure the game is incredible on all platforms, we will need a little more time.

That being said, Mark of the Deep will no longer meet its originally planned launch date this week. This was not an easy decision, and we understand the disappointment it may cause.

We don’t want to rely on post-launch patches to improve the game on console platforms, so we firmly believe this extra time will help us deliver the game in its best possible state.

Greetings, crew! As we eagerly await the release of Mark of the Deep, join us in a brand new demo available for everyone to get a taste of this epic pirate-themed adventure with a strong narrative and a thrilling mix of Metroidvania and Souls-Like elements.

As a newfound Mark Keeper, Rookie can unlock new abilities that change how you fight enemies and explore the environments! Discover new skills, weapons and trinkets to upgrade your combat abilities and make your way through new areas of the island.



Meet a fully-voiced cast of pirates, abyssal creatures and many other characters trapped in a cursed island with you! Rescue old friends and make new allies as you unravel the mysteries of the native inhabitants of the island: the Old Folks.

And for the first time, players are able to explore the island and discover its mysteries in 10 different languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, German, French, Russian and Turkish (plus Japanese in the next updates).

In the previous beta versions, the playable areas were from the beginning of the game. Thus, we were able to reconsider and optimize some decisions related to the first areas and the balancing of enemies in the early game.

Now, we have decided to introduce a more advanced area of ​​the cursed island into the Playtest: the Abyssal Woods. By exploring it, players will find new skills to unlock, even more enemies to defeat and a new boss!



To test the new beta, just sign up for the Mark of the Deep Playtest, wait until it appears in your library and play! Players who received an invite to the previous playtest still have access to this new playtest, you simply need to update the game on Steam. But for new players: hurry up as spots are limited!

If you already have save data from another beta version of Mark of the Deep, we highly recommend to delete any old save data before starting to play the current version!

Signing up is super easy and quick: just open the game page, find the playtest section under the screenshots and click Request Access. This will grant access to players and the trial version will be available in your Steam library.
