[h3]New Monthly Community Event – Pantheon Pin-Up[/h3]
[h4]Coming May 1st![/h4]


Today we’re announcing a year-long Community Event for Age of Mythology: Retold! We’ve assembled a host of challenges for players to take on, with every point earned for objectives completed counting towards the rewards!

Objectives will vary in difficulty; from completing any kind of match to proving mastery on the battlefield with challenging timed feats.

Everyone will need to work together to earn the rewards, with monthly score targets in place to unlock cosmetic rewards. Can you play your part in reaching the final goal and unlocking a new god portrait?

Any contribution towards the total goal makes you eligible to earn all the rewards unlocked by the community each month. So you just have to show up and play a part!

Track the community’s progress in the Community Event tab in-game. There you’ll see the community score, goals and objectives.

Play each month to ensure you don’t miss any rewards!

The event will begin May 1st, with 4 new rewards up for grabs. Each month has a chosen theme, which the Community works towards unlocking during the previous month. May was focused on unlocking our Summer-themed picture of Ra - but Poseidon managed to muscle Ra out of the way! We’ll post on social channels each month about the new rewards and goals so be sure you’re following Age of Mythology.
  • Join in with the community and help to achieve the monthly goal!
  • Participate by completing objectives each week to maximize your personal contribution to the Community Goal progress.
  • Each month there will be 4 rewards to achieve as a community. The first reward is collected by participating at least once during the month. The rest are achieved by community total contribution.
  • Participants can claim their rewards during the month following a community event.
  • The Major Reward for completing the full community goal each month will be a new Major God Portrait.
  • The first event will begin on May 1st!

[h3]Stability & Performance[/h3]
  • Improved stability in some situations when Walk Paths are enabled.
  • Graphics behavior adjustments for Xbox and PlayStation may improve the performance experience for some users.

[h3]Audio[/h3]
  • Fixes for various audio regressions.
    • Reduced the overly dramatic impact of volume relative to camera position and how close units were to the middle of the player’s view.
    • Many sounds and some music are now correctly adjusted by volume sliders. Some sounds were either not properly reduced or controlled by any sliders.
    • Improved audio quality in some situations.
    • Improved the loudness levels of audio, which was incorrect in some situations.

[h3]Hotkeys[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that prevented keyboard and mouse controls from working correctly in Photo Mode for elevation, panning, and zooming in some situations when the new sliders’ default value was 0%.
  • Fixed a conflict between the default binding of F1 that was used for both Push to Talk and Cast God Power 1. Push to Talk is now set by default to Alt+Space instead of F1.
  • Controller
  • Unit health bars no longer scale with the current zoom level on Xbox and PlayStation.

[h2]Audio Updates: FMOD Studio[/h2]
  • Age of Mythology: Retold now uses FMOD Studio, bringing a new level of audio performance to the player experience.
  • This update includes support for 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound, as well as more audio effects, including reverb effects based on the environment, EQ filters based on distance, and more!

[h3]Stability & Performance[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that could cause temporary freezing when the host of an Arena of the Gods game skips a cutscene.
  • Minor improvements to memory usage by the UI in some situations.
  • Applied a fix for inconsistent FPS on Xbox and Playstation when playing with Quality mode enabled in some areas.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Arena of the Gods game features to apply while in the Skirmish lobby in some situations.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur while displaying range circles on units in some situations.
  • Fixed a rare freeze that could occur when an out-of-sync occurs.
  • Minor stability improvements for PlayStation.

[h3]Achievements[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that caused some Arena of the Gods achievements to be obtainable while playing the Daily Celestial Challenge mode.

[h3]Graphics[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that caused unit scaling to be incorrect for units affected by Wonder Age in some situations.
  • Fixed a bug that caused changes in graphics settings to show visual corruption in some situations.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause Zhuque’s color to be inconsistent with the player’s color when disappearing and re-appearing.
  • Fixed some visual bugs with Rally Points that caused them to vanish in some situations.
  • Healing indicator VFX will no longer display for units with passive healing when the unit is dying.

[h3]Audio[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug preventing Push to Talk from working as expected in lobbies in some situations.

[h3]Hotkeys[/h3]
  • The “Select All Heroes” hotkey will now work as expected for Chinese Campaign Heroes.
  • Transport ships no longer have a non-functional attack-move button.

[h3]UI[/h3]
  • Herbal Medicine now has an updated tooltip to provide additional detail.
  • Windows IME functionality is no longer limited to the Latin character set. Chinese and Japanese character sets can now be used as part of the Windows IME functionality.
  • Added camera movement settings for Photo Mode to control pan speed and inertia ramp time to provide a better control experience.
  • Spotlight images will now show correctly while playing Arena of the Gods scenarios.
  • Fixed a bug preventing “Daily Best” from showing in some situations in the Daily Celestial Challenge.
  • Fixed the tooltip for the “Rock Solid” advanced rollover showing an incorrect previous value (-40% instead of -60%). Note: The string may not appear updated in all languages during this update.
  • Icons for scenario and campaign in-game dialogues should not have player color applied in expected situations.
  • Unit health bars on PlayStation will now appear the same as they do on Xbox.
  • Fixed a bug that caused tooltips to appear incorrectly in some cases while navigating the technology tree with a controller.
  • Fixed a bug that caused player names to be cut off in the social sidebar in some situations.
  • Player names will now show correctly on the post-game screen when a player has never been online.
  • Fixed a bug causing a missed line of dialogue in the first Arena of the Gods cinematic in some situations.
  • Game version is now visible in the bottom right corner of the main menu and can be used when reporting bugs.
  • Fixed an issue where the spotlight title and description for an Arena of the Gods scenario showed the title and description for a different mission.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the player from accessing the Daily Celestial Challenge leaderboard in some situations.
  • The EULA will now narrate as expected when playing on PlayStation with narration enabled.
  • The narrator will no longer read out resource bar values when hovering over God Powers when the narrator is enabled.
  • Fixed a UI rendering issue that caused the campaign screen to show in low resolution for players in some situations.

[h3]Controller[/h3]
  • Fixed distance-based selection for the controller cursor. A bug with this feature had been causing odd offset selections in the last few patches. Selection with the controller cursor should behave as expected.
  • Passive unit abilities are now visible in the Command Menu.
  • Trade units can now garrison when using a controller.
  • Fixed a bug when switching missions in Arena of the Gods with a controller that could cause the rewards tooltip to flash and close.
  • Fixed a bug causing the Site Menu Town Bell and Return to Work commands to not function as expected when using a controller.
  • Fixed incorrect narration of Age Up action items in the radial menus.
  • Fixed overlapping text that could appear when highlighting Time Shift in the Command Menu.
  • Fixed a bug preventing military commands from appearing when economic units are first in a mixed naval group when using a controller.
  • Fixed a bug that caused units snapped to with magnetism to retain priority for too long while using a controller.
  • The Controller Expanded Minimap Size setting is visible again for PC controller players.
  • The stance icon will now update faster in the Command Menu when pressed.

  • Fixed a bug causing the “Pickup Artist” achievement to be awarded in some unintended situations.

  • Fixed a bug preventing correct counting of unit kills if the owner of the dying unit was an AI player for the “Don’t Mess with Me” achievement.

  • The Sage ability Fox Charm has been renamed Replicate (in the last update) and is now in this patch translated in all localized languages.
  • Fixed a bug with French audio causing the Chinese Pantheon tutorial to not play fully in French.

[h3]Graphics[/h3]
  • Performance improvements for some VFX including Asgardian Bastion effects, frost ice sheets, Inferno explosion, Tornado, and Celestial Pillar Northern.
  • Fixed a missing ray burst VFX texture.
  • Added a new setting to control Terrain Embellishment Quality to control level of detail on some terrain objects. Currently applies to rocks and flowers.
  • Minor update to Tao Wu unit to add new VFX.
  • Minor update to Zhu Que Fireball VFX.
  • Fixed Arcus and Toxotes attack timings to better suit their animations.
  • Fixed a bug with the Chu Ko Nu upgrade 1 helm and Centimanus upgraded models.
  • Added birth VFX to the Terracotta Rider.
  • Added an arrow attach point to the damaged Lou Chuan weapon model.
  • Fixed a bug causing multiple cases of VFX with player color to show as default instead of the correct color. Includes:
    • Particles created during an update (E.g., villager idle, Fenrir fire)
    • When model instances are deleted and recreated (Zhuqueu landing / taking off)
    • VFX that only shows when visible that could break when they move on and off screen.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing Qiong Qi and Tao Wu to not upgrade their visuals when technologies were researched.
  • Fixed a bug causing strange model scale problems when interactions between the Taotie mechanic was combined with gaining or losing Wonder Age bonuses.
  • Oracle units will now show an indicator for their current LOS value instead of the ProtoUnit LOS.

[h3]Audio[/h3]
  • Fixed the background music not playing in some situations in the Chinese introduction cinematic in the Learn tab. (applied in last update)
  • Updates to improve audio in multiple places in the Pillars of the Gods campaign for at least a few places in most missions and cutscenes.
  • Fixed a bug that could occur with the music in Pillars of the Gods mission 1.
  • Updated Machine Workshop select SFX.
  • Minor additional improvements to audio in various places including support for playing sound sets from the UI.

[h3]UI[/h3]
  • The Daily Celestial Challenge leader board can now refresh when an update for your player entry occurs while the UI is open. (applied in last update)
  • The Daily Celestial Challenge leader board can now show a message stating there is no leader board entry if none can be shown. (applied in last update)
  • Earth Wall’s description has been adjusted to more accurately describe its behavior of allowing allies to pass.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause photo mode to become stuck with no UI when using a controller.
  • Fixed a bug causing the loading screen thumbnail icon to not display correctly in some cases.
  • Added new setting for Camera Drag Type with options for Continuous Drag, World Drag, and No Drag. Defaults to the old Continuous Drag behavior.
  • Improvements to some strings to correct word use and how names are represented in some cases.
  • Support for watching recorded games faster and slower than before. Factors include 2x, 4x, 8x, and 16x. Note: You may experience slower speeds if your device is not capable of running fast enough at higher rates.
  • The maximum length of lobby names for hosted games has been increased from 20 to 30 characters.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some tabs in the main menu to disappear when leaving Ranked Mode for the first time.
  • When spectating games the Victory popup screen will now show the team number when the winner is a team.
  • Fixed a bug causing unit names to become truncated in the unit panel when the name exceeds some lengths.
  • Updated Red Cliffs Fleet tooltip to properly explain its effect.
  • Fixed a bug in the Campaign menu causing it to not update after purchasing and/or installing a required DLC while the game is open.
  • Modified Cross-Network strings to improve clarity for players who are seeking the Cross-Input toggle options and filters.
  • If you do not own the required DLC for the currently selected Major God in a lobby you will now be prevented from readying up.
  • Fixed a bug causing spectator UI to become focusable resulting in camera inputs working.
  • Player colors can now be changed in multiplayer ranked lobbies.
  • Improved rate of notifications that could occur when attempting to land the Qiongqi or Roc.

[h3]Hotkeys[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug causing the hotkey “Find All Temples” to not work in any situation. (applied in last update)
  • Fixed a bug causing the hotkey “Find all Archery Ranges and Monuments” to not work in most situations. (applied in last update)
  • Added Find All Dropsite hotkeys.
  • Using hotkeys for pre-queuing age-ups no longer pre-queues Secrets of the Titans if not already aging up, pre-queuing an age up, or when already above the required age for the technology to become available.

[h3]Controller/Xbox[/h3]
  • Added Display Attack Range support for selected and hovered units when using a controller. Behavior now also available when selecting and hovering units in Fog of War for all input methods.
  • Fixed a bug causing the minimap expanded scale setting for controller not showing in some situations.
  • Toggling autoqueue with multiple buildings selected now matches keyboard and mouse behavior by affecting all buildings instead of only one.
  • Smart dropsite actions can now be used on moveable dropsites when using a controller.
  • Removed A button (Cross on PlayStation) prompt from some situations where it has no function.
  • Fixed a bug causing text truncation in some situations while using the Radial Menu.
  • Minor visual updates for the Radial Menu.
  • Loading screens now show controller tips instead of mouse and keyboard tips when playing with a controller.
  • Fixed a bug causing certain commands to not execute when LT and RT are held (L2 and R2 on PlayStation).
  • Fixed a bug preventing certain Minimap interactions from working while the RB button is held (R1 on PlayStation).
  • Fixed a bug preventing the Compendium from being accessible within a Command Menu while RT is held (R2 on PlayStation).
  • Fixes and improvements to narration in the God Power Radial Menu.
  • Fixed a bug preventing Norse military production buildings from setting a rally point on foundations when using a controller.
  • The Radial Menu will now try to cache the page order of selected units.
  • Military Radial Menus have now been split into abilities and formations. An option is available to toggle which appears first.
  • Houtou’s ability to upgrade wall connector sections into towers is now available on the controller.
  • Fixed a bug preventing Sage heroes from healing buildings with a controller.
