A Horror-Fueled Journey Into the Depths of Art and Madness

In Layers of Fear, you are taken on a chilling ride through madness and horror, all while paying tribute to the world of art. Throughout the story, you’ll find inside the game various references to painting and cinematography.
HAUNTING PAINTINGS OF THE LAYERS OF FEAR
The mansion in the first Layers of Fear is adorned with classical paintings by great artists such as Rembrandt and John Frederick Herring. However, the paintings also carry a dark twist, including sinister inspirations and references.

The eerie collection also features famous works like "Portrait of a Man" by Jan van Eyck, famously trailing the viewer's eyes. Additionally, "Mars" by Goya and "Portrait of Antonietta Gonzalez" by Lavinia Fontana add a haunting element to the game.
MENACING INSPIRATIONS FROM CINEMATOGRAPHY
The second part of Layers of Fear continues the motive of arts. Mysterious mannequins that you encounter throughout the game recreate scenes from famous cinematic classics such as "Metropolis" and "Journey to the Moon". These figures spin tales straight out of the terrifying "Seven".

But that's not all! The game is also littered with other ghoulishly modified works of art, such as Leonardo da Vinci’s "Lady with an Ermine", movie posters, and even a stylized portrait of one of the biggest fans of the Layers of Fear series.

In short, Layers of Fear is a one-of-a-kind journey that takes you into the abyss of spookily unusual art history.
