Take on Scottish folklore in haunting Steam indie game, playable now

Judero is one of the most immediately disarming games I've played. Take exploration and combat that's reminiscent of classic The Legend of Zelda, via modern games such as Tunic, Death's Door, and even Elden Ring. Then mix in the disconcerting horror stylings seen in the likes of Mundaun and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, accentuated by its jerky, hand-crafted stop-motion animation.

Judero left an immediate impression on me⁠—its stop motion animation is the first thing that hit me, beautifully recalling the work of Ray Harryhausen or Phil Tippett. As the developers themselves put it, "For us, this art style invokes something nostalgic; in part comical but perhaps a bit creepy too."..

Jack King-Spooner's next handcrafted game has a teaser demo out

You can check out the next game from Beeswing and Dujanah developer Jack King-Spooner with a swish demo launched alongside a crowdfunding campaign. Judero is its name, and a surprisingly action-heavy adventure through the Scottish Borders is its game. Expect folklore, witches, jokes, stop motion, and beasties to battle and mind control.
