DevBlog #10 - Huntsman Hero

Hello everyone and welcome to our 10th Darfall update.

We are proud to unveil the last Early Access hero, the Huntsman.

If you missed the last devblog about the Archmage hero, go and take a peak.

Huntsman

The Huntsman is master at bows and hunting. He has various utilities at his disposal, that can also help you get food in less hospitable maps.

Huntsman has no armor penetration or armor, but he makes it up in long range attacks and high damage. He can also summon animal companions you can control, which also contribute to his defense and attacks.
Abilities

The first ability is the Piercing Shot
Very good at both single target, as well as multi target if you aim it right.
For area of damage, we have Arrow Rain
This is a skill based ability, as arrows rain from a sky after some delay, so you better aim it right. But once the arrows hit, the damage is high.
The next ability is the Feral Ally
This defines the Huntsman and makes him currently the only hero who can summon units. The first animal is the Direwolf. If you upgrade this ability, you can summon a sturdy bear with high hitpoints.

In the last upgrade you can summon a Lion, powerful unit that deals some heavy damage to its enemies.
Another ability is the Poison Arrow
Excels at single target damage and ignores armor completely, so you better pick it against those sturdy elites.
The next area of effect ability is Paralyzing Gas
This stinky gas disorients enemies while they take moderate damage.
The last ability is Feral Trap
You can place as many traps as you want, so you can prepare a path of death for those invading undead.

When placed in the wilderness, you can trap animals to gain food in less hospitable biomes.

This is the end of today's devblog. We hope that playing with the Huntsman will make you feel like a real hunter thanks to his useful abilities.

DevBlog #9 - Archmage Hero

Hello everyone and welcome to our 9th Darfall update. It's me Lukas and today I’m going to show you the the new Archmage hero.

Also don’t forget to take a look at the previous Axemaster devblog if you missed it.

Archmage

You all know the Archmage from the current Demo. He is a mage-class hero thats wield magic and shoots projectiles from afar.

The Archmage excels at crown control and area damage, so pick him if you want to clear large hordes of invading undead.

The Archmage, being the only hero magic wielder as of now, has magic resistance, meaning it receives reduced magical damage, which is heavily used by hard hitting necromancers.

The Archmage also has an armor penetration, since magic can penetrate armor, so its also good at dealing with armored elites.
Abilities
As we have changed how the spell book works in the new version of the game, you can try out all the 6 abilities by picking 3, then resetting them each 24h for free if you change your mind or want to pick a different build.
One of the first abilities you all love is the well known Fireball
This is the best single target ability when you want to melt your target fast.
The next ability is the Frost Ray
This literally blasts all enemies in front of the hero and can control large crowds of enemies at once.
Another ability is the Fire Circle
Another great area damage ability for those large hordes of stupid undead.
If you wanna stop all your enemies, there is a Freezing Nova
Crowd control ability that can freeze an entire horde of enemies in place. Combine it with Fire Circle and Frost Ray and you can only imagine the effect this will have on those poor undead.
The second last ability is the Healing Circle
This is one of two support abilities that can heal up your friendly units when you are out in the wild and exploring.
And the last ability is the Arcane Strength
The second support ability if you want to empower your units to deal the maximum damage.

I hope you liked the mixture of the abilities that can offer different styles of gameplay during your survival.

See you in the next debvblog post, where we will reveal the last mystery hero.

DevBlog #8 - Axemaster Hero

Hello everyone and welcome to our 8th Darfall update. It's me Lukas and today I’m going to show you the new Axemaster hero.

We hope you enjoyed the latest Prologue update, where we included all the new features coming to the Prologue version of the game, like demons or unit upgrades.

Axemaster

The Axemaster is a melee expert who wields a greataxe to slash enemies in half.

This hero has an armor penetration stat that allows him to ignore enemy armor completely.

To elaborate more on the armor mechanics: if an enemy has the armor stat, any physical damage dealt to them is reduced by 30%. This means your archers or spearmen will deal less damage, which is represented by gray damage numbers in the game.

However, as the Axemaster has armor penetration, it will deal full damage to enemies wearing armor as orc elites or warlords.

As an Axemaster is a heavy hero unit, it also wears armor. This means any enemies will deal 30% less damage to him, making him great at soaking damage and being first in the fight.

Abilities

One of the first abilities is the Power Strike

This makes it a good single target dealing ability, which eviscerates the enemies.

The next ability is the Cleave

This is the only AOE ability you can pick. This makes the Axemaster more single target focused hero than the rest.

Another ability is the Charge

This makes sure you are the first in combat to wreak havoc in the middle of your enemies.

When you are low on health, there is a Bloodthirst

This can heal the Axemaster as long as he deals damage, making an aggressive play more rewarding.

The last ability is Harden

In case you want to make your Axemaster more “tanky”, you definitely want to pick this ability.

This concludes today's devblog. We hope that fans of heavy-hitting warrior-type heroes will not be disappointed.

See you in the next debvblog post, where we will go over the Archmage and his new abilities, not available in the current Demo.

Prologue City

The Prologue city will act as a prelude to the undead invasion of the Aganor continent, introducing the basics of the game's lore.

In this new map, the biome colors will be different compared to the green of the grasslands currently shown in the demo. You may see a snippet bellow.

New Hero - Axemaster

We are also introducing a new hero, the Axemaster, a warrior-type unit that wears heavy armor and is effective against elites. More details about the Axemaster will be covered in upcoming devblogs.
Several new additions in this free update include
• demonic portals now spawn in the map. On the last day, an invasion emerges from one of the portals set to destroy your city.
 • unit upgrades! Now all your units and their ranks stay relevant, as you can upgrade you units into more stronger variants. For example, your Archer can be upgraded into Gunman.
 • reworked ability book featuring all 6 abilities for your hero. Pick the 3 that best suites your strategy and play-style

Make sure you don't forget to WISHLIST the Prologue itself on Steam in order to be notified of the release of this version. It's important to stay on top of updates and new releases, so you can have the best possible experience with the game.
