0.11 Update: RPG Hero Selection, Hero Traits & Localization

Greetings, Darfall Players!

We’re thrilled to announce that the latest content update, 0.11, is now live!

This update focuses on polishing the experience with numerous fixes and tweaks, but the spotlight is on the addition of Chinese and German localization, a brand-new RPG-styled hero selection screen, and the introduction of class Traits.
Hero Selection
To enhance the immersive fantasy experience of Heroes, we’ve reworked the character selection screen! You can now view your heroes in fully 3D, bringing the RPG vibes to life, similar to what you’d find in MMORPGs. Since Darfall blends city-building and RPG gameplay, we could never miss this feature!

(Huge props to our talented artist Jakub for making such an fantastic scene)

The screen will be improved with few more details and animations as we will near the full release this year.
Class Traits
Each hero now comes with a unique trait tailored to their class. In the Demo, this is available for the Mage, Ardan.

You can now experience his Energy Overflow trait: locate an Energy Fountain on the map, stand inside it, and charge up the buff to its full duration.

With the Energy Overflow buff, Ardan’s energy capacity doubles, enabling him to unleash a devastating barrage of magic on invaders, or the occasional unlucky orcs.

DevBlog #18: Meet Nariel, the Beastmaster

Ah, adventurers, let me regale you with the tale of Nariel - ranger, summoner, and a force of nature. Trained by the elves and tempered by loss, she roams the Moorlands with her bow in hand and beasts at her side, waging a silent war against the vampiric Revenants.

Abilities to Command the Wilds
Spider Swarm:
Unleash a venomous wave of spiders that melt through even the toughest armor. A truly satisfying way to deal with foes!
Rain of Arrows:
Call down a deadly rain of arrows, perfectly timed to devastate large groups of enemies.
Piercing Shot:
A precise, high-damage attack that causes bleeding - perfect for armored enemies and tight clusters alike.
Feral Ally:
Nariel’s signature ability allows her to summon powerful animal companions to fight by her side. Each rank upgrades not only the stats of Nariel’s current companion but also introduces a new, stronger ally. The ability to have a combat-ready companion from the first day sets Nariel apart, making her a strategic powerhouse.

Direwolf (Rank 1): Summoned from the very start, this loyal ally is perfect for early survival mode, bolstering your ability to clear enemies near your base.
Bear (Rank 2): With significant health, the bear excels as a tank, soaking up damage and protecting Nariel and her forces.
Lion (Rank 3): The pinnacle of her summons, the lion combines immense health and devastating damage, making it a force to rival even late-game units.
Primal Fury:
:
Sends summoned beasts into a frenzy, vastly increasing their attack speed.
Feral Trap:
Nariel’s traps are a versatile tool for controlling the battlefield.
Immobilization: Set traps to stop dangerous enemies, such as wild beasts or invaders, in their tracks. Once trapped, enemies cannot move or attack, giving Nariel the edge.
Ambush Preparation: Lay multiple traps around key areas to create deadly surprises for incoming enemies. Perfect for fortifying your defenses or protecting choke points.

Whether used tactically during combat or preemptively for defense, Feral Trap ensures Nariel always has the upper hand.

Special Trait

Nariel’s bond with nature allows her to unlock white and green Nature treasure chests without keys. A boon for any adventurer seeking powerful gear!

A Tale of Loss and Resolve

Once a leader of the Moorland rangers, Nariel’s life changed forever after a failed mission to capture the vampire Count Valthazar. The mission left her sister Morrigan turned into a vampiric husk, setting Nariel on a path of vengeance and redemption.

Now, she fights tirelessly to protect her homeland and its people, wielding her unmatched skill and her connection to the wild. And perhaps, one day, we’ll uncover what became of Morrigan...
Deadlands
Deadlands have a rich lore in Darfall, once being a lush forest with diverse races and dragons, now stands as a toxic, lava wasteland with nothing but ruins of old kingdoms.

These last 2 maps, Watermeuse Fort and Eskerton Hold offer the hardest challenge in the game.

Each corner of Aganor offers a unique challenge, crafted to test your mettle and reward your cunning:

The perfect beginning for a brave adventurer. The Grasslands are abundant in food and wood, but beware - storms roll in without warning, bringing fire and chaos.
Biome Feature - Storms
Storms spark wildfires but can be harnessed to create fiery defenses.

Lore: The towns we are to re-build here belonged to a Windmar kingdom, the richest of the human kingdoms, that being until it fell to the overwhelming forces of the demons. No amounts of gold can buy you out of of that one.
Desert
Harsh and barren, the Desert offers little food but rich veins of iron.

Oases are rare gems, providing fertile ground for farming and much-needed wood.
Biome Feature - Heatwaves
Heatwaves drain your workers unless you keep them refreshed with… beer!

Lore: These parts of the continent are not united under 1 kingdom, but rather under different families, the most prominent one being Allerton.
Swamp
Foggy and treacherous, the Swamp slows expansion with its muddy terrain and roaming wraiths. Yet wood is plentiful for those who persevere.
Biome Feature - Mud
Mud bogs your forces - build roads to keep your army mobile.
Frozen Highlands
A true test of endurance. Low crop yields and roaming Yetis make survival daunting, especially when blizzards strike.
Biome Feature - Blizzard
Blizzards slow movement and freeze workers; braziers are essential for warmth.
Deadlands
The ultimate challenge. Toxic and barren, the Deadlands are home to the feral Dragnir - once mighty dragons, now haunting ruins.
Biome Feature
Everything here wants to kill you. Prepare for battle, or perish.

Lore: Once a lush region of the continent known as Verdan Expanse, it was home to variety of races, mainly dragons. As orcs and humans began expanding into their territory, the last desperate action, led by mighty dragon Ashscorn was to burn the entire region into cinders, the land trembled, the vulcanos erupted. It not only wiped out humans and orcs, but also dragons themseves, turning them into now feral Dragnir roaming Deadlands.
