Warzone 2 kicks off DMZ pay-to-win monetisation with Bomb Squad bundle

If you're a Call of Duty player that enjoys dipping into DMZ once in a while, you'll be pleased to know that the Warzone 2 Season 3 update has introduced a whole host of fantastic features to the rather popular extraction shooter mode. However, it isn't all sunshine and roses when it comes to the latest DMZ update. Why? Well, it looks like Call of Duty has introduced a pay-to-win bundle to DMZ; thankfully, this is the first one, but it's a worrying sign of things to come.

As you can see for yourself on this useful Modern Warfare 2 bundle database, and spotted by Call of Duty content creator 'GeekyPastimes' in-game, the Warzone 2 Season 3 update has introduced Bomb Squad - a Fender operator bundle that offers up several items that offer players a number of advantages specific to the DMZ mode. We know this was something of an inevitability given the game's monetisation, but it's still a shame to see it introduced.

Firstly, it comes with the Bomb Proof Sakin MG38 weapon blueprint. This, when in your insured weapon slot in DMZ, only has a cooldown of 15 minutes. For those of you that play DMZ regularly, this is a godsend - because it's a lot shorter than other insured weapons.

Warzone 2 urged to remove this useful feature amidst God Mode exploit

We know we're starting to sound a little like a broken record, but Call of Duty players have discovered a game-breaking bug in Warzone 2 following another major update - so, Raven Software has had to disable a key feature for this battle royale while it fixes it. This time around, it looks like FPS players jumping into this battle royale after the Season 3 update were met with a 'God Mode' exploit where certain players seemingly had an indefinite access to spawn protection priviliges in-game. So, Raven Software has opted to completely disable spawn protection features while it addresses the issue - and, quite a few players are calling for this feature to be removed permanently.

If you're wondering what has sparked the disabling of spawn protection features, all you need to do is check out this short gameplay clip from Call of Duty content creator 'Speros_OG' - although, it's frustrating to watch. In the short gameplay clip, we see Speros up against a player that's clearly invulnerable - despite registering hitmarkers - before dying.

This isn't the first time we've seen a 'God Mode' exploit in a Call of Duty game, but this seems more tangible than the last - and, it looks like Raven Software were quick to confirm to Speros (and the rest of us) that it believes spawn protection features are at fault.
