MW2 Season 3 update could introduce FPS' most cursed weapon yet

If you're looking for something a little cursed with your Call of Duty, it looks like the Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 update has something you'll like. While we don't know for certain if this is true, just yet, but it looks like one of the new weapons being introduced in the update is going to be a fully-automatic Desert Eagle - which is known as the .50 GS in MW2 and Warzone 2.

Yeah, you might think this is a joke, but it isn't. It looks like Call of Duty is going to introduce a full-auto variant of the .50 GS in the Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 update. As spotted by CharlieIntel online, an "Automatic .50 GS" has been named as one of the new Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 guns alongside the already-announced FJX Imperium, the Cronen Squall, and the Tango 0.

With this information coming from an official source, as unusual as it might sound, it's most-likely true. However, the Call of Duty Blog post on the Season 3 update has also laid the foundations for this reveal already - to reinforce it further, if you're still not sure you believe it.

Warzone 2 Season 3 update lets you fly your own DMZ exfil chopper

We know Modern Warfare 2's Captain Price can often be found saying something along the lines of "the rules are what you make of them", but it looks like Call of Duty is going to break its' own in-game rules to facilitate an awesome new feature for DMZ in the Warzone 2 Season 3 update. If you're someone who always seems to miss the final chopper out of Al Mazrah, we have some good news for you: you'll be able to fly your own soon.

Yeah, that's right, running for the final exfil in the closing moments of a DMZ match is going to be a thing of the past when the Warzone 2 Season 3 release time rolls around. Why? Well, because Call of Duty is introducing the Heavy Chopper - a vehicle you might recognise from Modern Warfare 2's Ground War mode - to DMZ. And, it's going to let you fly yourself out of Al Mazrah.

From Season 3 onwards, as explained by this Call of Duty Blog post on what's coming to DMZ in the new update, players will need to "find [the Heavy Chopper's] special fuel around the airport in order to get it into the sky".

Why Warzone 2 DMZ is getting the extraction shooter formula right

The first-person shooter genre was birthed by high-school students Steve Colley, Greg Thompson, and Howard Palmer as part of a NASA work-study program back in the 1970s. They created Maze War, an FPS game that challenged you to make your way out of several mazes while taking down enemy waves. Maze War eventually paved the way for games like DOOM and Wolfenstein, which popularized the FPS genre and inspired developers to get creative.

Over the last couple of years, that creativity has led to the rise of battle royales, looter shooters, and tactical shooters, which have dominated best FPS games lists. Now though, it looks like we are witnessing the birth of yet another subgenre that wants to compete for player attention: the extraction shooter. This subgenre essentially brings the best bits of looter shooters, survival games, and battle royales together, making a whole new subset of FPS games to enjoy.

Warzone 2 and MW2's mysterious BlackCell is just more cosmetics

The next seasonal Call of Duty update for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 is looking like it's going to be a good one. In the initial teaser trailer for the new season, BlackCell appears alongside some of the other content additions arriving in Warzone 2 and MW2, including new maps, new modes, and Warzone 2 ranked mode. Fans were left scratching their heads - was this a new character, a new DMZ faction, a new themed event, or something completely from leftfield that would leave fans gobsmacked.

Well, BlackCell has just been official revealed and... it turns out it's all about cosmetics.
