Here's the Warzone 2 Season 2 release time for Ashika Island's debut

he Warzone 2 Season 2 release time is a hotly-anticipated moment. Not only will the battle royale receive all of the standard goodness a new season brings, but for a lot of players, there's a far bigger reason to get excited - Resurgence is back.

For all of those mourning the death of Resurgence and the vaulting of the smaller Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep maps in the original Warzone, fear not - your long wait for some fast-paced action is almost over. Warzone Season 2 brings back Resurgence mode on the all-new Ashika Island map, where you'll be able to zip around on redeploy drones, battle it out in an ancient castle, and cosplay as DJ Khaled thanks to the new jet ski vehicles. But when exactly will you be able to drop in?

The Warzone 2 Season 2 release time will be at 9am PT/ 12pm ET/ 5pm GMT on February 15, according to the official Call of Duty blog. At this time, players will be able to download the update or jump straight into the action if they've pre-loaded the update file.

Warzone 2 is overcomplicating the very mode that could save it

It has been a long time coming, but Infinity Ward and the Call of Duty team has finally detailed what battle royale fans can expect to see from the upcoming Warzone 2 Season 2 update - and, there's quite a lot to be excited about. The long-awaited Warzone 2 Combat Record feature should finally be introduced and there are several interesting Warzone 2 Season 2 weapons to unlock. However, the return of Resurgence and Ashika Island is the big talking point - and it's clear to see why.

Described as "frenetic" by the Call of Duty team in this Season 2 blog post, Resurgence is a faster-paced, smaller-scale battle royale mode that "allows for respawns as long as one squad member is still standing". It isn't as loot-focused as the standard Warzone 2 battle royale mode, but it's a mode that quickly became a firm fan favourite when Rebirth Island was introduced to Warzone during Black Ops Cold War Season 1.

Without going into too much detail, Resurgence is a popular mode because it's something that puts action first and doesn't punish player deaths quite as much as a standard battle royale game. However, it does punish it more than a Team Deathmatch on Modern Warfare 2 does; it strikes a balance that a lot of players - us included - enjoy.

PUBG Studios is developing an Escape From Tarkov rival

February 9, 2023 Krafton has confirmed to The Loadout that PUBG Studios is developing its upcoming game Project Black Budget. The headline and body of this article has been updated to reflect this.

Publisher Krafton has revealed in its latest earnings report that one of its upcoming projects will look to capitalise on the extraction shooter trend, and it also confirms that PUBG Studios will be developing the project. Codenamed Project Black Budget, it could look to tussle with Escape From Tarkov and Call of Duty Warzone 2's DMZ experience.

In its previous earnings report in November 2022, Krafton revealed that it was in the process of developing Project Black Budget, which at the time it simply described as a new "PvPvE looter shooter". In this new report, Krafton confirms that this project will aim to "popularise the extraction shooter genre" by drawing on its experience with PUBG, suggesting it will be closer to things like Tarkov, Marauders, or DMZ than something like Destiny 2 or Outriders.

The logo for PUBG Studios appears beneath the description of Project Black Budget in place of the concept art that is shown beneath Krafton's other upcoming games. After spotting this, The Loadout reached out to Krafton for clarification as to whether this is indeed a new project from the PUBG developer, and received the following confirmation:
