Skykipelago is coming to Steam Next Fest!

Devlog for Skykipelago – A Chill Building Strategy Game in the Sky

Hello, Sky Builders!

Long time no see! While we were away, we were hard at work to finally bring you a playable Skykipelago demo.

When? Pretty soon! Steam Next Fest starts on October 14th, with Press Preview on October 4th. We plan to have the demo live by then.



What's in the demo? The demo will contain two modes:

Points Mode, where your goal is to collect as many points as possible. Some buildings like to have neighbors, some prefer... well... no neighbors (I'm looking at you, Hermit Hut). Pay attention to the needs of individual buildings to maximize your points.

Happiness Mode, where your goal is to make as many buildings happy as possible. Every building has a specific happiness threshold. Once it meets that threshold, a building becomes happy. How do you achieve this? By placing neighbors that the building likes!



Of course, you can ignore all those points and objectives and simply build a sky city of your dreams. Just you, your city and its bear citizens and the chill atmosphere. It's up to you – no pressure.

Hello, Sky Builders!

I hope you enjoyed the new trailer from a couple of weeks ago. We're back with a new update we've been working on recently.

We're experimenting with adding grass to the floating islands because TBH plain terrain is kinda boring.


Of course, the color of the grass varies depending on the overall 'visual climate' of the islands.


We still need to figure some stuff out, but let us know what you think below. See you next time!

Hello, Sky Builders!

We're back this week with another batch of news from the trenches of Skykipelago development! Lately, we've been working on our procedural generation system. Take a look:



Here's how it looks in action:



With this system, the islands are more diverse. Plus, there's a higher chance of spawning bridges between them. Last but not least, the generator is better optimized – it consumes fewer resources now. ;)
