Nexus 5X review - a streamlined Stellaris experience

For as much as I love my big, ambitious strategy games, I run into the same problem every time I think about starting up a fresh save: the time investment. Having a limited number of hours to devote to recreational play, I know I'll have to set an entire Saturday aside if I really want to dig into Total War: Warhammer 3 or Crusader Kings 3 beyond the opening few turns or decades. Nexus 5X arrives as the solution to this problem, offering a pared-down, faster-paced version of the 4X experience that nonetheless preserves a lot of the flavor and variety you can get from its full-fat ancestor, Stellaris.

  • Fixed some diplomacy deals being silently rejected for no good reason.
  • Added the option to accept a diplomacy deal if what you are receiving is no longer available, but with a warning.

Stellaris spin-off gets a new name and a 1.0 launch date on Steam

Stellaris remains one of Steam's finest 4X strategy games, pushing you to explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate across the galaxy. But have you ever wondered if there's room for one more X in there? Our prayers have been answered, courtesy of the fast-paced, Paradox-published spinoff Stellaris: Nexus from developer Whatboy Games. Now given a new name, Nexus 5X announces its 1.0 Steam release date will arrive just four months after its early access launch.

New Stellaris game finally has an early access release date

Early Access Update

Hi everyone!

We've got a big announcement going out tomorrow (21st) but wanted to give you all a heads up before the rest of the world.

We've learned a huge amount about the way that gamers play our game throughout the Early Access period so far, and we're pushing hard towards finalizing the game for its 1.0 launch.

Early Access is a great opportunity for developers to make changes to their games and to adjust any aspect of the experience that they think could be better.

As you all know, we've added new factions, leaders and game systems during Early Access, but from tomorrow one fairly big thing about the game will change - its name.

From tomorrow, the game will be renamed from 'Stellaris Nexus' to 'Nexus 5X'.

We're leveling up the 4X genre with an extra X, which stands for EXPRESS.

We feel that one of the most unique features of our game is that it offers all of the strategic depth of a 4X game, but in a short-run (about 60 mins) format - which is why we're adding EXPRESS to the 4X genre and renaming the game to reflect that.

We'll also be announcing the 1.0 launch date of Nexus 5X tomorrow during the Future Games Show, so keep an eye out for that!

Thanks for all of your help and support throughout Early Access - we couldn't have done it without you!
