Public Playtest concluded

Hi Governors,

After a full weekend of intense playtesting, first Kaiserpunk Playtest has now been closed.
Thousands of you requested access, and we received a ton of fantastic feedback. Fantastic in the sense of quality feedback, we don't mean everything with game was fantastic at this moment. But the purpose of Playtest was to identify what must be better. In that sense every sentence from you was immensly valuable.

We've already created lists of your reactions, from praises, to criticism, from bugs to suggestions on what can and should be improved. It will be integrated immediately with existing development plan and we're already certain it will result in a better game experience.

Big thanks to everyone participating. Thank you for the time devoted to game and thank you for sending us your honest thoughts and opinions. Future game versions will reflect many things you've said right now. Hopefully, you've also got a decent amount of fun, even from this incomplete version.

Our plan is to conduct more events of this type, so stay tuned ːsteamhappyː

One update was released during Playtest itself, and from what we gathered overall, we understand most of you feel there is much promise is this unique city builder/grand strategy hybrid. You also pointed out numerous technical bugs that need sorting out, as well as need for further performance gains. Happy to report planned optimizations go far beyond what was part of this Playtest, so it will be improved significantly. Many of you also suggested some specific improvements that could lift the game, so that was also a great read.

Once again, THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING! Your time and effort will be rewarded with a ton of improvements!

To keep up with future news and playable versions, follow us and wishlist Kaiserpunk!

Stay awesome!

First post-demo Playtest is now live, closing on July 22nd

Welcome future Governors!

We're thrilled today to open the very first Kaiserpunk Playtest! New game version will be available from today until Monday, July 22nd, and main goal is to gather new feedback from all sorts of players. Playtest game version is not the same as previously available demo, but it still a quite incomplete game version, so please keep that in mind - there will be bugs and errors as well as missing content.

To get the option to participate in this free Playtest, you'll need to first "Request access" on game store page. We're gathering interested people for a few days already, but will likely continue to grant access after Playtest already starts, at least during first day. So don't worry, if you're hearing this now for the first time, you're still not late!

Allow us a moment to explain the purpose of this Playtest: During initial demo availability we've encountered some hardware problems (too high drain on video memory and low frame on some machines). That prevented a number of players to try out the demo as they intended. We'd like to apologize once again for that, but we did take all reports very seriously. A few weeks have been dedicated fully to first optimization rounds primarily. During internal tests in recent days we've measured significant performance improvements, as well as drop off in video memory requirements. That means game should load up normally to many additional players that experienced memory peak and freeze moments before, and should overall work smoother.

During this work, a few more areas were found where more sizeable performance gains can be reached, so we'll absolutely pursue it too. But at the moment, we'd like to double check what were the results so far before we continue.

On the content side, Playtest version introduces second (out of several more) geographical biome - ARID and couple of new maps. In final game, these various biomes will cover different parts of the world, depending on what region you select to start your game in. In total you'll be able to play through several maps and two different biomes, but at the moment tutorial features are enabled only on map designated as "tutorial". This means that maps other the tutorial one will currently function as full sandbox. All currently available game features will work, as well as salvageable scenery, but you should already be familiar with how game mechanics work (basic hints will still be there). You can always try out tutorial map first, then switch to some of the other ones. Eventually, plan is to have tutorial linked to any available ingame map (but will have an option tu be turned off).

Playtest version has the same time limit set at 4 hours in a single session while number of different sessions isn't restricted.

What can you do for us?

Hopefully, you can enjoy the current game version, and you can provide us with your feedback once you're done. We'd be very grateful for every single piece of information you wish to provide us, because that will be the backbone of adjusting further development until game is completed.

You can share your opinions, suggestions, throw bugs at us or send helpful files for resolving technical issues. Everything helps and we'll do our best to listen and include what you say in further planning.

Depending on your preference, you can forward your feedback on any of these channels:

Rewrite history with city-building in new Kaiserpunk demo coming soon

Going back and doing things right is the eternal dream for many of us. If only I had done this, if only I hadn't done that. What if is a delectable and enticing thought, one that many of us indulge in our lives. Alt-history is a genre that takes that to a bigger scale, letting us imagine entirely new branches in the story of the world. Kaiserpunk is a game that takes alternative history to a massive level and on the back of a successful demo, it's got another one coming soon.

First post-Next Fest Playtest applications opened

Greetings Governors!

Following overwhelming amounts of feedback during Next Fest a few weeks ago, we've now resumed regular activities on development front. Some of the issues most loudly raised on Next Fest were centered around specific hardware requirement. Our analysis confirmed this and few major changes were done in past weeks. Video memory draw was way to high in some instances, and that unfortunately prevented a good portion of players from even trying the game. We're now in the process of correcting this. Hopefully much more players will now get the chance to properly test out what's coming.

In any case, we plan to reopen access to Playtest version from July 20th through to July 22nd.
Main changes are optimization and hardware requirements that should allow much more people to test the game, plus there will be some ingame content additions and gameplay fixes. After this Playtest we'll again re-evaluate the results, see what improvements were done, as well as determine what else needs to be done before we continue pouring in the pure content (there are a lot of it currently missing from game build).

Please check out the Steam store page and hit the "Request access" button if you want to apply for this Playtest. We'll enable manual entrance to Playtest from July 20th.

Awaiting your arrival and see you in a few days!
