Patch 1.0.3 is on the way!

Thank you all so much for your feedback and positive energy – we’ve reached one week from launch and have a bit of a meatier patch available for you featuring a small amount of balance tweaks, various bug fixes around the areas you’ve reported, and a significant number of optimizations and adjustments to improve performance across a wider range of machines.

The team remains hard at work on some larger updates which we’ll have more news on soon™ but are also continuing efforts to provide regular (e.g. weekly) patches/hotfixes for the issues you’re reporting, to respond to your feedback, and to improve your quality of life while playing Ara.

  • Resolved an issue where the SRs8000 was granting bonus Prestige to all improvements instead of just itself.
  • We have fixed an issue where in some rare cases, players were unable to demolish improvements without first reloading the game.

  • Resolved an issue where players would be unable to load into a multiplayer game due to save incompatibility.
  • We have updated the default settings (Auto Detect) for the game.
  • We have now set the maximum Frame Rate for the game to 60 by default. Users can still adjust this if they choose.

[h3]Performance[/h3]
  • • Resolved an issue that could cause a crash for a small number of players, when mousing over the Army panel.
  • • Graphics Rendering optimizations for higher framerate, particularly when running at higher resolutions
  • • Default max framerate set to 60 (can be changed by players) for less power consumption on laptops.

  • • Fixed bug causing issues with repairing improvements
  • • Stability improvements
  • • Better detection of external/discrete GPUs


And finally, various additional minor bug fixes, stability and performance improvements to address specific reports from the community.

Ara: History Untold review: a pretty, almost great resource management game chafing under a 4X suit


I am puzzled by Ara Colon History Untold's priorities. At its heart are a couple of interesting ideas undermined by its own determination to put the wrong thing on centre stage. Make a rich and elaborate resource management game with an unorthodox research system, but then spend so much time on a simultaneous turn system and detailed animations that you're left with a cumbersome interface and lifeless AI, and you too might wind up making Ara.


There's an almost great game here, but it's all neglected and bruised from being shoved into the packaging of a lacklustre 4X.

What an incredible four days it’s been! Since launch, we’ve been thrilled to see so many of you dive into the world of Ara: History Untold. Your feedback and excitement are what drive us, and we’re overwhelmed with gratitude for your support, reviews, and comments. Seeing the many different strategies and paths you’re taking through history has been truly inspiring.

With so many of you playing, we’ve been closely monitoring your reports and bug submissions, and the team has been hard at work. We’ve already pushed two patches to address some early issues, and we have another one in the pipeline that will be going live early next week. We’re committed to keeping the game running smoothly and addressing any concerns that arise as quickly as possible.

One issue we know some of you have encountered is a rare flickering texture bug on certain machine configurations. We want you to know that we’re actively investigating the cause and will have a fix for this out as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience while we work through this.

The patch planned for early next week will include a number of performance optimizations based on live player data, alongside a variety of other bug fixes based on your reports. It’s a bigger one than our first two hot fixes, and we’re excited for you to see it.

This is just the beginning. We’re listening closely and are dedicated to making Ara: History Untold the best it can be. Your feedback has been invaluable, and we really appreciate your patience and continued support as we push forward.

Based on user reports, we've identified and resolved an issue that some have reported regarding frame-pacing / limiting with VSync on specific hardware configurations.
