From the battlefield: Saboteurs

Last week we announced a new class that will appear as a reward from the event that starts simultaneously with the release of the next major update - the Saboteur. The concept of the class sparked intense discussions.

You correctly noted that the concept of the saboteurs are similar to the guerrillas. This is not a coincidence: the Saboteur class is based on ideas that originally came up when we created the Guerrilla class, but for various reasons did not suit them due to their more aggressive play style, their squad containing AI soldiers and so on.

History is full of stories about lone brave individuals sneaking behind enemy lines, disguising themselves using captured equipment and assisting the main forces with intelligence or smaller sabotage actions. This is exactly what we tried to recreate in the game: if you enjoy helping your team by providing invaluable information of the enemy’s position or diverting the enemy’s attention by disrupting their rear lines without attracting too much attention to yourself, then you will like this new class.

To prevent saboteurs from affecting the flow of the battle too much, a similar restriction will apply to them as to vehicles. We also plan to add a new special squad slot in the update where you can place these new saboteurs or any other event squad.

Friend or foe

Let us explain the disguise mechanic in more detail. To disguise themselves, saboteurs need to find the body of an enemy soldier and put on their uniform, but there must be no other enemies nearby - otherwise the process of changing uniforms will be interrupted.

A disguised saboteur can blow his cover by carelessly killing an enemy, for example in front of another. Once detected, the saboteur can slip out of sight and change their uniform again to blend back in.

Is it possible to spot enemy saboteurs before they start causing trouble for your team? Yes, and not only by their behavior: there will be no triangle marker above them indicating an allied soldier. So, if in the heat of battle you notice a teammate without it, it's worth asking yourself - is he really on your side?

See you on the battlefield, commanders. And keep an eye on your allies: maybe not everyone is who they seem to be!

Pre-order: "Fight Fire with Fire" flametrooper squads

Let's build bonfires while waiting for the next major update and welcome the new squads armed with unique weapons featuring an attached flamethrower with them!
346th Infantry Division with Mosin M91 rifle with flamethrower and AVT-40 20 (USSR)
Soldiers of the Debaltsevo Rifle Division, who participated in the Battle of Stalingrad.
205th Infantry Division with Suomi KP/-31 with flamethrower and FG 42 (Germany)
Soldiers of the Army Group Center, who participated in the battles near Velikiye Luki.

The squads can be filled with 6 soldiers: they come with 4 flametroopers and an engineer armed with their squad's unique weapon. The flametroopers also come with a secondary weapon that can be removed or replaced. There is also a free soldier slot for either an AT gunner or an additional engineer, who can be armed with your unlocked weapons. The engineers in these squads have access to a wide range of buildable structures and can build machine gun nests, heavy machine guns, ampulomets anti-aircraft and anti-tank guns.

The flamethrowers on the weapons have 200 ammo and their flame jet can deal 40 damage up to 18 meters.

Pre-order pack

Purchase the "Fight Fire with Fire" pack before the major update is released to receive exclusive pre-order bonuses: a portrait and a nickname decorator.

Pre-order bonus: "Chindit" portrait and "Flame" nickname decorator.

If you're playing Enlisted on console, you can get these bonuses by purchasing the "Fight Fire with Fire" bundle within 14 days of the update’s release.

Weapons and vehicles of the "Hidden Threat" update

Commanders, as with every major update, "Hidden Threat" will also bring new additions to the research tree.
AVS-36 20 (USSR, BR V)
The familiar AVS-36 rifle with a larger 20-round magazine. Its distinguishing feature compared to the AVT-40, just like the 15-round version, is its higher fire rate. When heading into battle, you will now be able to choose what matters more without sacrificing magazine capacity: better recoil control or a higher rate of fire.
Do 335 A-1 (Germany, BR V)
The Dornier Do 335 "Pfeil" is one of the most unusual "arrows" in aviation history, featuring two engines - one mounted in the nose and the other in the tail of the aircraft. Its powerful armament, consisting of one 30 mm and two 15 mm cannons as well as a 500 kg and a pair of 250 kg bombs, is complemented by a no less impressive base maximum speed of 788 km/h!
Cromwell I (USA, BR III)
A British cruiser tank that first saw action in the Battle of Normandy in 1944. Its 57 mm 6pdr OQF Mk.III cannon and two 7.92 mm BESA machine guns, combined with its high speed and good maneuverability, make it a dangerous opponent on the battlefield.
Chi-Ha LG (Japan, BR II)
Fire and move - this is the main principle of this self-propelled gun. It is armed with a powerful 120 mm cannon with enough penetration to destroy any tank it encounters. However, its limited ammunition supply and the lack of armor can pose a problem, but not when you can easily eliminate the threat before it reaches you.
