I wasn't entirely sure what to expect when stepping into Dragon's Dogma 2's expansive world for a three-hour hands-on preview. With the cult classic 2012 original having landed a lifetime ago in videogame years, I wondered where this long-awaited sequel would sit among the modern greats like Elden Ring. Venturing into Vermund and Battahl, however, I was surprised and delighted to discover just how much Capcom's latest bucks almost every trope and trend of the genre.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is the long-awaited sequel to Capcom's original entry into the series, Dragon's Dogma. Released way back in May 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 console generation, the game gradually grew a cult-like following, boosting its sales over time and eventually proving to Capcom that it had its next big franchise hit on their hands. With the sequel still weeks out from its official release, the game is already showing up in the top Steam sales charts despite it not even being playable for quite some time.

Who are all the Dragon's Dogma 2 enemies? It's important to know your opponent before you start getting into fights, that way you always have the upper hand. You and your party will face plenty of threats when adventuring through Vermund and Battahl, not least the hordes of DD2 enemies and monsters waiting to stop you.
Ahead of the DD2 release date, there are a few enemies we already know about, so you can start planning your defense now. What are Dragon's Dogma 2 Pawns? At the beginning of the game, along with the character you control - called an Arisen - you'll also create a Pawn, which is a faithful NPC companion that will never leave your side. They'll help you in a myriad of different ways as you adventure, and you'll continually swap other player-made Pawns in and out of your party. That way, you'll have a balanced adventuring group as you slay ogres and griffons.
