To the Moon News

Happy Halloween (& comic project update)~

P.S. The To the Moon & Finding Paradise comic project should be completed sometime next month. d-(' ' d-)

Unlike the previous comic, , this one will feature the main canon storylines and characters from the games (of gaps that weren't covered in the game, and different perspectives).

An odd oldie made before To the Moon is now on Steam for free

Originally in 2008 and remastered since, this experimental game was the first time I worked with a modern setting, and paved the way for To the Moon's interior atmosphere.

But in all other ways it is veeerrryyy different from what To the Moon is. In fact, I don't know what it is. But under "Similar Games", Steam says "Assassin's Creed: Odyssey", so there you have it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

P.S. We got an early start to beat Red Dead 2 in sales with this, but at $0 per copy we're gonna need to make a LOT of sales. Fingers crossed.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival~

Announcing comic project featuring To the Moon & Finding Paradise

Hey folks! As you may have heard, we're working on a little comic project, illustrated by Puré.

It will contain one story from To the Moon (ep. 1), one story from Finding Paradise (ep. 2), and a few side stories in between.

We're hoping to get it done sometime around this fall or earlier, and making it available for free-viewing on the website, a DLC on Finding Paradise's Steam page for those who'd like to support it, and a physical print edition for the collectors.

Cheers, hope y'all are having a great weekend!

To the Moon - animated feature film confirmed

Hey folks! As some of you have heard, a major animated film for the game is now under way. Thought I'd post the news here as well, and here's the vlog with some more info c:

Points from the official press release:
-To the Moon's animated feature film project is now confirmed.

-It will be a collaborative project between Japan (main production) and China (main funding).

-First tier Japanese animation production companies are aboard (specifics to be announced in the coming future).

-The film project was made possible in partnership with Beijing's Ultron Event Horizon, whose CEO, Danyang Zhao, was responsible for bringing the animated film "Your Name" to China.

-Significant budget for the project has been cleared (quoted as somewhere above the budget for the production of Your Name, for reference).

-The original creator of To the Moon, Kan Gao, will play a part in the script editing/advising process.

-Freebird Games continues to create narrative-driven games with Kan fully committed. The production for the next Freebird game project has already begun, and is quoted to be 'quite bonkers.'

Thank you for being here, everyone. Honestly, things kind of caught me by surprise too. Lots of hectic times up ahead, but we'll try our hardest to make something worthwhile!
