• A patch to fix reported crashes is in the works and should released sometime next week, if everything goes according to plan
  • A detailed overview of the new content of the Nightmares Unleashed Update will be posted here

But now let's make room for the December Community Spotlight!

At Passtech, we love watching community videos. It’s a great way of seeing what could be improved, what works well, and how players find fresh and amazing ways of playing Ravenswatch.

Math is mathing in @Febr33ze’s video! A gripping deep dive on how damage is calculated in a run, and the specificity of Multiplicative and Additive bonuses. It brings up interesting points, and food for thought!
Community Corner

Are you going to add a textual chat?
We're looking into this possibility, yes. We'll have to see how we implement it from a technical point of view, as Ravenswatch can be played with a controller or a keyboard/mouse setup. Then, other questions need to be answered: moderation, reporting, and consoles. We know that voice chat is not the preferred method of communication between strangers, so we're interested in alternative means of doing so.
I want to play with other players, but I don't want to use matchmaking. Where can I go?
Our Discord server has proven to be a good place to meet new people and play with other Ravenswatch aficionados. You'll always find teammates over there, and voice channels are available to connect together as well as textual chats. Join the community on Discord!

That's it for today! As mentioned above, we'll see you next week for an extensive look at the Nightmares Unleashed Update.

Free Ravenswatch DLC will bring a pair of new characters to the Steam roguelike

2024 has been a great year for roguelikes all around, but one of my favorites has been Ravenswatch. At first look, you might be forgiven for thinking it's in the Hades mold, and there are certainly some similarities, but developer Passtech Games has built a much more open-ended ARPG with character-driven combat reminiscent of games like Diablo. Filled with a fantastic cast of immediately recognizable fairytale faces, Ravenswatch has won itself a 'very positive' Steam rating so far, and it's about to get even better in 2025 with the addition of not one but two new heroes coming as free DLC.

An inseparable duo will join the Ravenswatch next year!

Greetings, Ravens!

Today, we have some great news for the community!

We're happy to announce that our first Hero DLC will include not one but TWO HEROES! You read that right. An inseparable duo will join the Ravenswatch next year. They’re also never one without the other and must be played together in co-op.

This mysterious duo will have synchronized abilities, unique playstyles, and fun synergies. We cannot wait to tell you more already, but you'll have to be a little more patient until then!

We'd love to hear your guesses in the comments below!

This first Hero DLC will be free on all platforms.
Post-launch Roadmap
We’ve officially updated our post-launch Roadmap; you can check it below. To always get up to date with the latest roadmap, consult our Steam store page!
Next patch
We're currently working on our next PC and Console patch, which will resolve the crashes reported recently:
  • Crash occurring when using Beowulf's Fireball talent during the Epilogue fight
  • Crash occurring during the unloading of a run (when finishing a game)
The patch will also fix some connection issues and 4K resolution for Xbox Series.

Nominate Ravenswatch for the Outstanding Visual Style Steam Award!

Greetings, Ravens!

The Steam Awards are back again! Last year was a fantastic year for Ravenswatch: Between all the Early Access updates, the 1.0 release, and today's Console launches (as well as the crossplay feature!), we're beyond proud of the team and the community that has formed around our game.

That's why we would love for you to nominate Ravenswatch for the Outstanding Visual Style Award! Ravenswatch's art direction and visuals have always been praised by players and the press, and we believe we have our shot in this category this year!

So, THANK YOU for nominating us in this category (or any other category if you wish to do so). The team genuinely appreciates it 🙌

About art direction, a few words from Valentin André-Terramorsi, Passtech Games' Art Director:

“Almost four years ago, we set out to make a game that would build and improve upon the foundations that were our previous titles. The obvious challenges would be crafting a good multiplayer experience and growing the studio to tackle a bigger development scope than ever before. Artistically, we knew we wanted to keep our stylized approach to making good-looking games, and with the world of Reverie where tales and legends coexist, it just felt obvious to embrace an illustrative art style.

"Make a screenshot look like it could have been hand-drawn” was perhaps a bit ambitious as a goal, but it is the kind of compass you need to guide you through a game’s development. It always felt like we, 2D artists, were illustrating a book that 3D artists magically brought to life. As is often (if not always) the case, we didn't nail it on the first try; but I never doubted that we were on the right track, all thanks to the talented people I have the honor and privilege to lead at Passtech Games (AND the rest of the studio of course, but we’re here to talk about art, sorry guys).
It is a bumpy ride trying to achieve such a distinct look while continuously improving your home-made engine. Looking back, I can’t believe the amount of basic tools we had to build from scratch, and how many tricks and techniques we had to come up with so that one could immerse themselves in this aesthetic. It can be frustrating to think that most of those efforts end up being invisible to the players’ eyes. On the other hand, we’ve seen countless reviews praising how the game looks, so I can safely say it wasn’t all for nothing.

Also, the fact that you are reading this means that some of this background work is about to get the audience it deserves!

Allow me a cheesy analogy: Ravenswatch started from the idea that we could make a game starring heroes that would come together to face titanic challenges, each with their own personal strengths. I hope you understand where I’m going with this while browsing through the work of the Ravenswatch artists. I genuinely mean it.“

If you're curious about Ravenswatch's art, you can visit the Artstation blast we published last month.

We also shared a three-part series on YouTube about How to Make a Hero: a deep dive into the art and design of our iconic cast.

Ravenswatch is also 20% off as a part of the Steam Autumn Sale:

Now we'll see you tomorrow for a surprise announcement that, we're sure, you're going to enjoy 👀

Ravenswatch Patch note (Crossplay) - Version 1.0.06

Greetings, Ravens!

Today marks the release of Ravenswatch on PlayStation and Xbox! We’re pushing a patch to synchronize all the game’s versions and introduce CROSSPLAY between all platforms!

You can now play with your console mates and find more players during matchmaking games. An option to disable Crossplay is available if that’s not your cup of tea!

We’re taking this opportunity to thank you again for your continued support since the launch of Ravenswatch 1.0. We’re cooking great updates with new content and features, balancing changes and QoL improvements! It takes time, but we're working hard on it.
Hotfix 1.0.06

Fixed issues
🐦= Inspired by community reports and suggestions
  • 🐦 Crossplay: Play along with your friends on all platforms, from PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series
Note: An option is available in the Options menu to disable this feature.
  • HUD: Brought back the stats in the main HUD!
    • 🐦 Stats are now placed next to the health bar (same as Early Access)
    • Teammates are now placed above the mini-map
    • Stats tooltips have been localized in all languages
  • Fog: Fixed an issue where the Fog would not reset in between runs, leading to no fog at all in the following runs
  • Mini-Bosses: Added barriers to the Mini-bosses' caves to replicate the same behavior as the Cyclops and Dullahan fights. Edit: This change was an oversight in the patch note.
