Starting tomorrow, October 26, 2023, We're opening the doors to the first cross-platform Open Beta for THE FINALS. The test will run on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Steam and ends on November 5.

The Open Beta introduces the brand new Skyway Stadium arena to the map rotation, along with an all-new game mode — Bank-It. Additionally, the beta includes a free BattlePass with 16 exclusive, permanent rewards that players can unlock and keep for launch. The beta features cross-play and cross-progression between PC and consoles.

The goal of the Open Beta is to validate improvements and changes made from earlier testing on PC, stress-test the game’s server and backend infrastructure at scale, ensure the team is capable to quickly patch and update the game across platforms, and get feedback on the console and gamepad experience.

Here’s what to expect in the Open Beta:
Iconic Arenas

• NEW* Skyway Stadium — Experience the ever-changing Skyway Stadium, where players can test their limits in this treacherous playground.
  
• Monaco – Play through the cobblestone streets of Monaco, making it a perfect map for destruction and closed-quartered combat.
  
• Seoul – Fight atop towering skyscrapers in downtown Seoul with fast paced, vertical gameplay. Be careful to watch where you step so you don’t fall.

New and Updated Game Modes

• NEW* Bank-It — Four teams of three battle it out for coins in this casual-friendly, combat-focused mode. The team that reaches the max limit first, or the team with the most cash banked at the end of the round, wins.
  
• Unranked Tournament — A Cashout mode where four teams of three compete to find cashboxes and deposit them in vaults, in an unranked tournament format with three rounds and 24 players in total.
  
• Ranked Tournament — A Cashout mode with four teams of three in a ranked tournament format with four rounds and 48 players in total.
  
• Quick Cash — A casual-friendly variant of Cashout in a 3v3v3 format. This mode has longer matches, faster respawn timers, faster extraction times and only one vault at a time.
  
• Practice Range — A place for contestants to test weapons, gadgets, movement—and of course, destruction.
  

Contestant progression

• The free Open Beta BattlePass will include 16 exclusive rewards that, if unlocked, will be transferred to the full game at launch
  
• Item progression will include 5 Mastery Levels per weapon

League Progression

• Five Leagues (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond) will include permanent rewards for each tier, along with an exclusive Legendary Diamond Weapon Skin reward for contestants who reach Diamond tier.

Even More Content – The open beta will feature 20 Weapons, 26 Gadgets and 9 abilities for contestants to choose from, as well as improvements to performance, movement, teamplay, and more.

Starting June 14, Embark Studios is hosting its second Closed Beta for THE FINALS, the team-based, free-to-play shooter that pushes environmental dynamism, destruction, and player freedom to the limits. The closed beta will run for a week and ends on June 21.

“This test is a side-by-side comparison to our previous beta that we hosted back in March,” said Jonathan Lindsay, THE FINALS’ Executive Producer. “Most of the changes we’re introducing in this closed beta are under-the-hood type improvements, based on some of the key feedback we got from previous testing, related to performance, the through-the-gun experience, movement, and more.”


There’s some new content too, including new weapons for all the character classes, new cosmetics and skins, and a new progression system that gives contestants control over what to unlock by playing the game.

Crucially, this test also introduces some important changes to the game modes, with a more casual-friendly variant of Quickplay in a 3v3v3 format. This updated mode—called Quick Cash—has longer matches, faster respawn timers, faster extraction times, and only one vault at a time.

“Many of us at Embark have been building first-person shooters for more than two decades, but just when we thought we were finished with the genre, we unlocked a developer’s Holy Grail,” said Rob Runesson, Executive Producer of THE FINALS.

“With server-side destruction and movement, almost everything in THE FINALS can be wrecked. We want to breathe new life into a genre that’s frankly grown slightly monotonous, and can't wait to test THE FINALS with a large number of players to see if they agree, so we can keep improving the experience ahead of launch.”

THE FINALS remains in development and beta participants should expect plenty of tweaks, changes, and additions based on the feedback they give. It’s a game that brings experimental features—like server-side movement and destruction—and many of these will take iteration to get right.

Contestants will compete in virtual recreations of two iconic locations—the skyscrapers high above the heart of downtown Seoul and old-town Monaco, on the banks of the French Riviera. The beta also has a practice range where contestants can test weapons, gadgets, movement—and, of course, destruction.

There’s casual play as well as ranked tournaments and leaderboards for players to climb. Throughout the two-week event, contestants can unlock weapons, gadgets, tons of cosmetic items, and more. We can’t wait to see the kind of explosive action you’re going to unleash. We’re going to learn so much, and you’re going to wreck everything in sight. Of course, that might include our servers, so it’s probably a good idea to remind you superstars that this is an EARLY BUILD with lots of experimental mechanics and systems.

On that note, we’re not allowing streams or captures for this test. Things are actively being developed and will 100% change between now and release, so besides a deluge of destruction, expect bugs, balance issues, and more first-look weirdness as we find out what works… and what doesn’t.
