NIMRODS | Roadmap + Progress Update II

Hi NIMRODS,

As we prepare our next release - the Bifurcation + Economy Update, we want to share a progress update with you all!

Our Roadmap has been refreshed to highlight what’s coming next, and you’ll also be able to view it directly in game once the update goes live. While we couldn’t fit every planned update into this format, we’ve outlined the key milestones that remain on our path to V1.0.

The content is shaped around what the community has been asking for - addressing many of the pain points raised through the forums and reviews. Your feedback has been invaluable, and we truly appreciate it ❤️

Let’s dive into what we have planned. Keep in mind, a lot of the details are subject to change!



Gunporium

This has been one of the community’s most consistent requests and we completely agree! While it won’t be part of the upcoming update, it will be the focus of the next major update right after. Our goal is to start with an initial version of the Gunporium, where you can view your guns and augments, and then expand and refine it over time with your feedback (i.e characters, enemies, and more).

Hostility

This one’s for all of you who’ve pushed deep into the game and are craving a tougher challenge. We’re introducing a system that ramps up enemy difficulty on the planet - offering bigger rewards in XP, resources, and more. More to come in the next Devlog. *Aims laser at the planet*

Performance

We’ve made significant progress on performance since launching into Early Access, but there’s still work to be done. With each update, we continue to optimize the game. Some improvements are small, while others are more significant. The last major performance update will come when we convert the enemies into entities (see this Devlog for an explanation - NIMRODS | Performance Devlog - Every MS counts). This change will greatly improve frame times, as many other non-optimized systems depend on it. However, it’s a big change and will take time to fully test, so we want to ensure it’s stable before releasing it.

Research Update

This update is all about expanding Quests and Achievements. While there are already some Quests in the game, we want to add many more to give players a greater sense of progression and reward. Completing objectives and earning Achievements should feel meaningful and satisfying, and this update is a big step toward that. More details will be shared as development progresses.



Biomes

The next Biome that we have planned to release is the Frozen Wastes. We have pushed the Violet Forest to come at a later update as we want to prioritize new Biome areas. We’ll share more details over time, including the unique mechanics of the Frozen Wastes.



Supporter Pack

We’d like to express our gratitude to everyone for your support. Your feedback, enjoyment and even bug reports means the world to us. With the upcoming update, we’re introducing a Supporter Pack for anyone who wants to help us even further. Priced at 50% of the current game price ($4.99 USD), it includes cosmetic golden skins for Roobie, Target Dummies, and your Drone. Stay tuned for when it drops in the upcoming update.



Quality of Life

Quality of life improvements are ongoing and will continue between updates (too many to list). Here’s a glimpse at some of the changes coming in the next few updates:

Prototype Drop Pod - Visual change to the pod when you reach a Breakthrough for the Prototype Gun.



Projectile Graphics - Projectiles will now change appearance based on the magazine you have equipped.



Gun & Augment Ideas + Theme

We’ll be adding new Guns and Augments throughout the updates. Many of these will lean into the NIMRODS theme - a wacky, whimsical shooter with a huge variety of upgrades.

In today's hotfix we're addressing a couple of more bugs. We are currently working on the next content update which we will share more about soon!

  • Prototype Gun's Breakthrough upgrade pod now shows 'Select Breakthrough' instead of 'Tuning'.
  • Fixed an issue where some Minibosses could be affected by [Terrified].
  • Fixed an issue where Explosive Shield Grip did not increase max Shield Strength.
  • Fixed an issue where the Shield health bar would grow endlessly while swapping guns in the Home Ship.
  • Fixed an issue where the Maximum Stacks for Glorykill Magazine was set to 480 instead of 600.
  • Fixed an issue where some map fog was revealed in an area out of bounds.

In today's hotfix we're addressing a couple of bugs that were brought to our attention by the community.

  • Fixed an issue where the Mixed Message Barrel was providing more knockback than intended.
  • Fixed an issue with runaway knockback values causing some enemies to be flung around.
  • Fixed an issue with Banish warnings showing inaccurate text.
  • Fixed an issue where Magic Module augments were not locked behind their map crates.
  • Fixed an issue where tooltips could show with incorrect layering.
  • Fixed an issue where Minimap icons would get stuck in the drop zone select screen.
  • Fixed an issue with the clone counter on the game over screen.
  • Fixed an issue with Honey-Flavored Combat Stims description displaying incorrectly.
  • Fixed an issue where the player's shield would heal when hit by a projectile from Bzz Prime.
  • Fixed an issue where picking up an Airdrop would refill the player's shield.
  • Fixed an issue where the Drone would target the player if targeting was set to Weakest.
  • Fixed an issue where killing Carl Jr. quickly could cause the Boss Trophy to spawn out of bounds.

Gear up NIMRODS!

A brand-new update has arrived, introducing a new chassis, augment, and improvements to rerolls.
Here's the full list of additions, changes, and fixes in this update:

[h3]Major Features[/h3]
  • New Chassis: Prototype Gun



  • New Augment: Magic Module

    Arcane Imbuer, Thaumaturgic Battery, Three Wishes, Upon a Star, Projectile Portals, Terranin's Targeter.



  • New Breakthrough Tunings: Energy Cells, White-hot Ammunition, Eureka!, Armor-piercing Flechettes, Charging Circuits.

    These will only appear at Level 15 while using the Prototype Gun.

  • Characters now have one Reroll per run by default.


[h3]Minor Features[/h3]
  • Crates and Capsules now appear on the Minimap once you discover them, and remain marked in every run until collected.



  • New and improved Boss introductions.



  • Added a warning when attempting to Banish an augment that still has available upgrade tiers.
  • You can now open the Gun Inspect screen from the Upgrade screen using the inspect hotkey.
  • You can now access the Gun Sell screen on the Home Ship with the Sell hotkey.
  • Screen Shake Sensitivity slider has been added to the Settings menu.
  • All Bzz Miniboss variants now display their gun and augments during the boss intro.
  • Home Ship door objectives now show the biome where that boss is located.
  • Steam Branch is now displayed in the About menu.

  • Helix and Tech Modules now have [Slowness] to help balance excessive lifetime scaling.
  • 4RM5-D34L3R is now unlocked by default and no longer needs rescuing.
  • Gambler Pod rerolls have been renamed to 'Gambles' to differentiate them from global rerolls.
  • GT Ultralite Railgun art has been updated.
  • Icons for GT Ultralite Railgun related quests have been updated.
  • Bzz now has a magenta explosion when using its Explosive Magazine augment.
  • Bzz now has a magenta melee attack when using its Enchanted Bayonet augment.
  • Bee Gun has new shoot SFX.
  • Improved Candle visuals in the Bzz Arena.
  • Landmines now have a magenta explosion.
  • Miniboss/Boss health bar now no longer displays during their intro.
  • Improvements to Augment Stacks. Leadership Stacks are now displayed from your Drone indicated by the Drone icon.
  • Credits are no longer displayed on the HUD while in the Home Ship.
  • Updated to Unity 6000.0.54f1.
  • Significant performance improvements.
  • Localization improvements across all languages.


[h3]Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed an issue where the Railgun projectile sprite no longer changed based on the duration of the charge.
  • Fixed an issue where players could teleport out of bounds while using the Liftoff ability.
  • Fixed an issue where the player health bar could display a negative value upon dying.
  • Fixed an issue where purchasing Drone upgrades before opening the Drone Bay for the first time would cause it to use the incorrect default settings.
  • Fixed an issue where gun firing and reload sounds could be drastically louder or quieter depending on the chassis. Firing volumes are now more consistent across all chassis. Consider adjusting your audio settings if necessary.
  • Fixed an issue where Glass Eyeball Charm and its upgrades were only giving 0.8% Vision Range per meter of partner Vision Range instead of the listed 2%.
  • Fixed an issue where the upgraded versions of the Liftoff ability did not provide the correct Dodge Skill values.
  • Fixed an issue where the Neodymium Magnigrip caused the Buff Stack from Cobalt Magnigrip to disappear.
  • Fixed an issue where Bzz's Helmet incorrectly added 90% to Bullet Spread instead of correctly multiplying it by 0.9 to increase accuracy.
  • Fixed an issue where healing visual effects would not immediately disappear after collecting a Medic Pod.
