We. The Refugees: Ticket to Europe News

Update number 1.192.1132 (11286247)

Hi everyone!

We continue to polish and update We. The Refugees. This time the new patch includes:

  • Fixing a text scrolling issue that appeared when game was set to the biggest font size
  • Fixing an issue with the date display in one of the chapters
  • More fixed typos as usual
  • Fixed a map issue when strolling around with Isaac in chapter 2
  • Fixed a map issue when looking for accomodation also in chapter 2

Help refugees together with us and the 'Ocalenie' Foundation!

As we promised - we are now announcing a second humanitarian partner, whose activities we will officially support from the game's profits.

We received many suggestions from you in comments and private messages. However, one foundation appeared most often - it's Polish 'Ocalenie' and we decided to donate 2.5% of the game's profits to them. The 'Ocalenie' Foundation has been proving for years with its steadfast attitude and by saving human lives on the Polish-Belarusian border that they deserve all support. We have met these people personally and can vouch for their credibility. They are true heroes and we are sure they will put this support to good use. We hope that this will help them in fulfilling their mission at least a little.

As a reminder: In total, we will be donating 5% of the game's profits to charity. The other half of this amount will go to the Hope Project - a group of volunteers who have been supporting refugees on the Greek island of Lesbos for several years and who helped us during the research for the game, inviting us to the Moria refugee camp and acting as our guides. They are wonderful people who need all support and we are proud that we can repay them in any measurable way.

We also want to say 'thank you' for all the support we receive from our community. And please remember: By playing games you can not only be entartained, but also really help other people!

Devs to Players: After-Premiere Appreciation Post

It's been a full week since the premiere of "We. The Refugees" - it was quite a surreal experience for us: after so many years of work, we thought that the day of the premiere would never come... But we made it :)

And we are extremely grateful for the supportive feedback we receive from you. Well over 90% of the feedback we receive from players is positive! It's amazing because we've made a game that actually...shouldn't work because:

  • deals with a very difficult and delicate subject
  • presents this topic from a controversial perspective, because it is balanced and presents a very wide spectrum of opinions on the portrayed subject
  • the game is overwhelmingly text-based in a time when literature is dying
  • its a seemingly uncomplicated game in a rather niche genre
  • and therefore requiring patience and time to discover its complexity and hidden mechanics

And yet you want to play our game! It's amazing and... incomprehensible to us ;)

Plus, we're thrilled to see so many people actually play the game: 78% of players have completed the prologue and unlocked the first note from Egypt, and over 50% have reached Act 2. Wow! You really want to explore the world we've created.

However, you haven't discovered everything yet! Although the game has been online for 7 days, you still haven't discovered all the hidden paths and content: No one has yet learned the full story of the Syrian nurse Almas, the story of Dinah's stump, or experienced the paradoxes of egoism... Only about 1% of you ended up in prison during your adventures (yes, it's possible!), or... experienced stomach indigestion during a storm ;). We take it as a compliment that we created such a complex and full of hidden scenes story that you still have a lot to discover after a week of playing :)

Thank you all - this gives us hope that creating ambitious and complex narratives in games makes sense and motivates us to continue working in this direction. And each copy of the game you buy is a small step towards the next, even more extensive and complex game for which we already have an idea :)

However, to all those still hesitating whether it is worth playing "We. The Refugees" - we would like to remind you that for 3 more days you can do it at a reduced price, thanks to the premiere discount -10%. The discount ends on May 11, and you will have to wait a while for the next promotion! :)

Best wishes everyone,
Act Zero Team
