We. The Refugees is Now Available!

Is this really happening?

Today we give you a game that we fought for so many years that we thought our odyssey would last forever.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2094580/We_The_Refugees_Ticket_to_Europe/

It's a game that deals with a very polarizing, sensitive, but also important topic. The development process was preceded by in-depth research - dozens of books read, conversations with consultants and a visit to the Moria refugee camp. The game we are giving you is the result of this process - many years of thought, dozens of consultations and a few nervous breakdowns along the way.

It is a story of approximately 300,000 words that tries to present the subject of refugees from many points of view

  • It is almost 100 hand-drawn illustrations.
  • 90 minutes of the original soundtrack.
  • Thousands of dialogue choices.
  • Hundreds of tags to earn.
  • Lots of hard decisions to make.

It's a game we'd like to play ourselves. We hope you enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed working on it.

Currently, the game is available on windows. The mac version is in the works.

Special Premiere Contest: Play the Game, Get the Comic Book

"We. The Refugees: Ticket to Europe" premieres in 24 hours!

On this occasion, we are announcing a contest in which you can win a comic book. Or rather: a graphic novel created by our artist Natalia Jura. This artbook directly follows the storyline of "We. The Refugees" - in some playthroughs, players can meet an NPC named Kassim, who is an artist working on his grand graphic novel, which metaphorically depicts refugee odysseys.

We asked Natalia to imagine - based on the game's script - how Kassim's graphic novella could look like if it ever came into existence.

The result of her work is the comic book "Ticket to Europe", which is the prize in our competition.

How to get this comic?

It's easy. All you have to do is finish the game in the first 72 hours after the release of "We. The Refugees" and in the place where "The End" text appears on the screen (don't click on it yet!) you open the Notes or Tags menu, then take a screenshot and send it to this address: [email protected]

Each person who completes this task will receive from us a digital version of the graphic novel "Ticket to Europe".

The contest starts on May 1, 2023 at 3:00 pm CEST and ends on May 4, 2023 at 3:00 pm CEST.

Development Progress: April 2023

Hello everyone!

There are only weeks left until the game's release, so we want to show you how much we've accomplished in recent months :)

Since the last devlog:

1. We have finished the final translations of the script into English.

2. We implemented 95% of the graphics into the game engine.

3. We have implemented 100% of game scenarios in PL and EN versions.

4. We added sound effects to the game.

5. We created and added 80% of map animations to the game.

6. We organized the tags in the game and sorted them into categories.

7. We visited San Francisco during GDC, where we made a lot of contacts!

8. We went to PAX East in Boston, where for 4 days we collected feedback from players about the almost final version of the game.

9. We have updated the game interface.

10. We created a new logo for the game.

11. We fixed some technical issues, bugs and typos.

12. We published a documentary about the making of our project.

It was a really busy time :)
