Devlog #3: What Games Inspired Streets of Rogue 2? 💡

Hey, rogues!

It was supposed to be a monthly series of devlogs, but Matt realized he had a game to finish.😅 He still found some time between coding stuff and sat down to talk about games that inspired him to create the ambitious open-world sequel to Streets of Rogue. You may know some of those games well; some are obscure. However, they all influenced Streets of Rogue 2 in some way. Enjoy!

Streets of Rogue 2 hits Early Access on August 14 - I'm going to need a week off

That's it, I'm going to need a holiday for this one. Streets of Rogue 2 from Matt Dabrowski and tinyBuild is due to enter Early Access on August 14th.

Do a drive-by shooting from the back of a bear in Streets of Rogue 2 this summer

"Deus Ex but tiny and hilarious" is how I pitch the first Streets of Rogue to people in elevators. Then I kick the elevator control panel to pieces, climb out the hatch, and cut the cord with a buzzsaw I smuggled in earlier. "It's also total chaos!" I yell, as the elevator plummets. "Ha ha ha ha ha ha!" Streets of Rogue 2 is looking similarly chaotic. But one thing has been brought to order: its release date. It's coming to early access on August 14th, while a new trailer (below) shows horse riding, flame throwing, and speed boating. My favourite moment is when a man pumps magic gas into a room full of people doing zumba, and it turns them all into giants, and they freak out and start smashing the walls in a panic.

Streets of Rogue 2 gets a new trailer plus a demo for Steam Next Fest in June

One of the games I am truly most looking forward to getting my hands on is Streets of Rogue 2, which seems like it takes everything good about the first game and just expands on it greatly. Gimme.
