Early Access Patch #05 - Update and Change Log

Hello friends! It's that time again… - PATCH TIME!


We are happy to bring you the fifth patch for our game Astral Tracks! Our goal is to continuously improve and update our game while being in Early Access, so this patch includes a big improvement on the display of 3D characters when opening a multiplayer session, allowing you to see your opponents, as well as new accessories and visual effects, enhanced track filters and (as always) bug fixes. You can find the full change log below.

[h3]New Content / Features:[/h3]
  • Included 3D characters of other players in the PLAY menu while being in a multiplayer session, so they are visible while waiting in a lobby to start a game
  • Added Spectator mode to track end screens, so now you can spectate on your co-players while waiting for them to finish a track - Spectating was previously only possible in the pause menu
  • Added five new accessories: Bow and Pitchfork for the hands, a Quiver for your back, Geta shoes, and an awesome Feather Headdress
  • Added one new music track, which gets dynamically played during tracks depending on your skills and the intensity of your actions
  • Implemented a "personal" and a "friends" filter for the all time highscore list in the end screen of a track for more interaction with the leaderboard
  • Added lightning between the golden spheres in the PLAY menu

[h3]Improvements / Updates[/h3]
  • Menu navigation should now also work by only using the keyboard
  • Further improved procedural level algorithm to prevent it from creating colliding or overlapping paths and segments, where previously it had created tracks colliding with themselves on rare occasions
  • Adjusted the credits and included all the translators
  • A dissolve effect has been added to those accessories that didn't have one before
  • While switching between menus the character is now correctly shown and hidden to give the illusion of being teleported
  • Updated German localization
  • Adjusted UI in PLAY menu: "Press Y to join Splitscreen" text has been moved up and positioning of "START" button has been changed so it doesn't get cut off by the platform anymore in certain resolutions

[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed the track filters "played by friends" and "not played by friends" so they properly check for tracks that actually have been played by your Steam friends or not - previously there was an issue with fetching the friend IDs on the server
  • Fixed bug where players might have been able to pass through force fields while sliding
  • Updated the collectable ducks that were sometimes falsely displayed in a track, after having finished a previous track
  • Fixed bugs that accessories are not displayed after changing them or when changing from customisation to main menu
  • Made changes to the track progress bar on the lower right of each track, to properly show the individual player progress and their icons - this was previously more prone to errors, resulting in icons jumping back and forth
  • Fixed a few UI bugs like that "Connection lost" and "Lobby was closed by the Host" didn't appear at the correct time and the "Show Details" option was falsely displayed in the Settings sub menu
  • When joining a lobby, now the ghost settings set by the host are displayed correctly
  • Fixed bug where characters might get reset to the last checkpoint in the background of the end screen when finishing a track
  • "NEXT" button in track end screen now makes sure the previous track isn't loaded again

Steam Endless Replayability Fest focuses on games that cannot only be played once, but over and over and over again because the playthrough is different each time. So after you get a taste of beating the game once or twice, you can continue to beat it a hundred, maybe even a thousand times! 💯

From the beginning, a part of the focus in the development of Astral Tracks was high replayability and trying to make each run different, with the goal to increase the fun of playing for hours on end. With that in mind, players can run racing tracks that are procedurally generated using a special algorithm, building together levels with pre-built hand-made pieces and following different rules. Each character can be dressed up with a wide range of accessories and, to make it even more fun, you can enjoy the game in either online or local multiplayer mode!

So take some time off, get the game NOW and prepare yourself for an Astral Track marathon, either playing by yourself or gathering some friends to keep you company! 👫

Early Access Patch #04 - Update and Change Log

Welcome back! How exciting that you are here! 😄

We come bearing gifts - the 4th patch for our game Astral Tracks! This new update includes bug fixes, improvements for splitscreen and track filters, as well as enhancements to the customisation menu. You can find the full change log below!



And - in case you haven’t noticed 😉 - we also want to take a second to inform you that we’ve updated Astral Tracks' Steam page here as well! We created several GIFs from gameplay or Engine-rendered footage to include in the “About this game” section. Don’t you also think it adds a lot more dynamic to the Steam page and thus reflects the game way better? 🤩

But coming back to the new patch...
The last update, patch number 3, included the new local multiplayer mode via splitscreen and we've continued to improve it ever since. Now when you enjoy the game with family and friends, sitting next to each other on the couch, it will only get better!
Additionally, we also worked on improving the track filters and sorting options. This will allow you to have better results when searching for tracks and filtering them.
We also enhanced the customisation menu, now allowing you to turn the character while trying on costumes and enjoy its beautiful accessories from all angles - I mean, have you actually seen all the awesome backpacks available? ✨

  • Integrated the option to rotate your character in the customization menu

  • Adjusted the in game UI sound volume, especially in the track end screen
  • The credits screen in the pause menu is now scrollable while using a gamepad
  • While playing splitscreen, it now shows all players the same endscreen, resulting in a better overview and a less crowded screen
  • While playing splitscreen, co-players now automatically enter Spectator mode when finishing if there are still co-players left on the track
  • When playing multiplayer, ghost settings of the session host now automatically apply to all co-players
  • Improved UI display of selected stages for co-players while playing multiplayer, automatically applying settings chosen by the session host
  • Adjusted the character transition effect in the main menu, when coming back from a track
  • Enabled transition effect for grapple hook of the astronaut character

[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed a track filter bug that prevented you from finding tracks with no highscores while filtering for "least highscores"
  • Fixed lobby icons in the main menu so they don't appear twice in certain situations
  • In the track end screen, the word "Next" is no longer cut off in some languages
  • Fixed bug so that when playing multiplayer, co-players don't have a turned head or body after using the slides
  • Updated the controller icons position throughout all menus
  • Updated the buttons in the spectator mode, improving the spectating experience
  • Removed faulty height fog from the sky in tracks
NOTE: We are still updating the games localization, so we ask for your understanding if we missed some translations in your preferred language! 🙏 Localization takes some extra steps and time, but we will make sure to update it as soon as we can.

The next patch will be a bigger one, so definitely stay tuned for that! We are working on some bigger, visible new features and hope to have them ready for you as soon as possible.
