It’s time, let’s spill the beans on what’s coming next! Not only are our devs working hard on Update 0.5.5 & 0.5.6, there’s also a lot going on in the background about other events. Let’s get you up to date.

[h3]Update 0.5.5 – Coming soon![/h3]

The branches are already in QA and being tested. Beside the long-awaited balancing improvements for the Old Race and Crusade faction (looking at you – Arbiter) we will also bring in some QOL improvements for your upgrade buildings, the multiplayer Quick Join flow and the Autosaves, as well as some bug fixes! We’re developers after all, hunting down bugs is our job. 🪲

We will also share some information about our private testing branch soon, where we will have even more improvements for Map 02 and the hiding mechanics. So, stay tuned for the next update to learn more! Please note that the Map 02 overhaul will impact your save data, with any in-mission progress for Map 02 being lost in the update. Don’t worry if you’ve already beaten it, though, that progress will be saved.

For the third time, we're celebrating games developed in Germany with a Steam event, but this time with a very special treat for your ears! 👂🎶

The video game soundtrack label Black Screen Records, has produced a limited-edition event vinyl for this year's "Games Backed in Germany" event, together with Games Germany:



The strictly limited 12" black vinyl contains a delicious selection of tracks from 14 games that are part of this year's "Games Backed in Germany" event - including Songs of Silence! HOTFIX #3 & #4 - OUT NOW!

Another week, another Hotfix! This time we’ve been able to collect and consolidate more of your feedback, so thank you all for your input on Steam, Discord or our dedicated Songs of Silence feedback website. Whether it’s improving existing features or fixing bugs, we’ve addressed several high-priority issues to make the game more fun - we hope you like it!

P.s.: Did we skip Hotfix #3? No, we snuck it in. Sneaky, right? Just like you! Hiding in the forest on Map 2 will be easier – since hotfix#3 increased the forest size 😉

[h3]Movement Meter Rework[/h3]
We've refactored the Movement Meter to clearly indicate when you enter marching formation and are vulnerable to ambush. This also indicates more precisely when your armies cannot hide anymore!

We've also tweaked the bottom-left hero portrait to display additional information around movement points. Let us know what you think!



[h3]Map 02 Tutorial Improvement[/h3]
We've adjusted the tutorial steps and added visual cues to more clearly highlight key information at the beginning of Campaign Map 02.
This revolves around the use of the Strategy Card "Eila's Guidance" and the identification of hidden armies.



[h3]Battle Zoom-In[/h3]
Listening to your feedback, we've increased the zoom-in range when playing a battle! Yes, we want to see those units close up too!

New patch coming today - Battle Speed & Main Menu | Speed Chess Mode | Bugfixes

Hello!

Firstly, a thank you!

We’ve been live for about 48 hours now, and we’re so happy to see so many people buying, playing, and enjoying the game. Your feedback, good or bad, is important to us, and we are listening to it all. We’re about to drop the first hotfix, addressing some of the comments and constructive criticism we’ve received over the last two days.

We are listening, and we are grateful to you all for bearing with us during the early access period and providing us with so much helpful information. As you can see from this patch, we’re working hard to implement your feedback and improve the game as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

But let's move on to the details of the update.
In terms of gameplay mechanics, two clear criticisms became apparent to us: the way content is unlocked for Skirmish and Multiplayer and how that is communicated in-game, and the inability to quit directly from a battle or to speed up the battle’s progress.

This first patch, which will be released within the next 24 hours, addresses both issues and adds the Korean language pack!

Content Unlocks
For the unlocking of content, we’ve both improved the UX/UI around the encyclopedia quests you need to complete to unlock content, and we’ve unlocked two heroes from each faction to play with right from the start.

For the Crusade, that’s the Purgatory Shepherd, a ‘vocation’ or sub-class of the Arbiter Hero type - this awe-inspiring leader ravages entire armies with his destructive powers while commanding a particularly powerful Purgatory; and the Void Herald vocation for the Kantor class. This Kantor belongs to the Congregation of Dhana's Love and specializes in strong defense, healing, and building temples.

The Old Race gets the Medico vocation for the Monodika class - this Monodika has developed strong healing abilities, and her capital city allows the immediate recruitment of Harbinger units. In addition, the eyeless ones will have access to the Stonesinger vocation for the Konstruktor hero. A Konstruktor of very rare talent. His workshops, the fabled Konstruktoriums, are more developed than normal and immediately available.



The UX/UI improvements to the Encyclopedia make it much easier to understand what you should do next to unlock the content you’re looking for, as shown in the screenshots below. We know that it felt a little frustrating not to be able to find this information easily previously - this makes it much clearer what’s needed to get to the next unlock stage.





Battle Speed
Sometimes, you might want to save the enemy some blushes by fast-forwarding a battle where you’re embarrassing them. Now you can double or even quadruple the battle speed to deliver swift justice, or maybe save a few blushes of your own…



Main Menu in Battle

We’ve also added the ability to be able to reload a previous save from the midst of battle, or to make a complete tactical withdrawal to the main menu if things are going really badly.



Speed Chess Mode
Finally, we have our new four-minute, time-limited turn mode unlocked from the first time you play the game; it's convenient if you’re engaging in multiplayer with a foe prone to going AFK or spending too much time perfecting their strategic decision-making.


Stealth and Ambushes
We've seen that folks have been struggling with the stealth system introduced in Map Two. And maaaaaaybe it was a little harsh. So we're looking at a rework of how some of the stealth and ambush systems work to make them a little less brutal - this will be in a patch coming in next 24h!

But we're not going to leave you hanging over the weekend, either. We've implemented a small fix in this patch, which will increase the size of the forests you can hide in, giving Lorelai's army a better chance of sneaking past under the cover of the canopy. Good luck!
