Diesel-powered city builder New Cycle invites you to rekindle hope after a solar flare wrecks the world

Dieselpunk city builder New Cycle will release this week on January 18, 2024, challenging you as the leader of a band of survivors trying to rebuild Earth's civilization following a series of devastating solar storms that obliterate our societal and technological infrastructure...

Devlog 14.01.2024 And Early access content overview

New Cycle is set against the backdrop of the planet being subjected to a series of very serious damages, whose effects increase and decrease over the course of the game.

Life-threatening and global events, especially atmospheric anomalies, will cause situations that a community sometimes cannot cope with. In addition to these, you will also face the problems of crowded life in a narrow space and other related impossibilities.

You will be able to intervene against all possible disaster scenarios or choose new measures according to your development over time. While these disasters occur, you can lose buildings and people, and experience negative outcomes that can affect the settlement as a whole.

All disasters work as VFX-driven technical components with simultaneous unique Shader interactions and a series of streams that can help shape and bolster the game world.

In the first Early Access build:

  • Fires
  • Lightning strikes
  • Sandstorms
  • Collapse due to lack of maintenance
  • Workplace accidents
  • Extreme weather conditions

Can each take place, prompting you to act in response. Multi-causal events such as fires are also variable systems that have the ability to spread and can produce more permanent damages when not dealt with correctly, showing behavioral changes depending on whether they’re affecting wooden or concrete structures.

Disasters currently on our road map are:

  • Cyclones
  • Static discharge anomalies
  • Oil Fires.

Cyclones is still in early production, its integration into the physics of the universe and its visual effects do not reflect the final form.

New Cycle's overview trailer reveals another city-builder grappling with the problem of hope in a fading world

Core Engage and Daedalic Entertainment have released a new overview trailer for New Cycle, their post-apocalyptic "dieselpunk" city management game. "New Cycle" is obviously a bit of a self-contradiction, and I suspect that's deliberate - one of the questions the video leaves you with is whether there is "a future beyond survival", or whether we are doomed to just repeat the processes of extraction and gradual building-up, resource overexploitation and encroaching disaster suggested by these 12 jam-packed minutes of in-game footage.

Devlog 30.12.2023 And Early access content overview

Greetings to everyone,

With our Early Access date just around the corner, we're aiming to share a series of announcements about the mechanics and game world components that New Cycle will have in Early Access, as well as our future plans for them, both with a devlog and in the form of smaller explanatory pieces.

For this purpose, we'll try to convey some details on Conveyor Belt System as the second week's topics of focus.

Conveyor Belt System:

The logistics of production management in New Cycle are generally represented in an impressionistic manner. The settlement's warehouses house products and resources, while Workers assigned to buildings sometimes transport goods between buildings and sometimes to these warehouses.

As the game world progresses and the number of inhabitants you are responsible for increases, you can begin to build more advanced and mechanized production structures for the large projects you take on. The high processing capacities of these structures cannot be realized to their true efficiency through human-powered logistics. To overcome this problem, infrastructure investment must be made and production must be supported by planning conveyor belt channels for the right production trees.

The belt system, whose height, angle and length can be managed as desired, includes auxiliary units that enable processes such as separation and merging to be designed according to the belt sequence.

It is entirely in your hands how all these qualified components will be positioned in the settlement and for what purpose they will be used. Each belt unit has a certain cost and requires electrical energy for its operation, adding onto the consumption of the production structure from which the belt line starts.
As long as the power supply to this structure is not interrupted, the belt flow will run smoothly, and if resources not included in the target production formula are transferred to a structure by the belt, the structure will also display negative results.

This week's second headline has been shifted to next week as it increases the news content too much.
