Perks, Stamina & More!

Hello everyone!


For all those we haven't had any contact with this year, we wish you a happy new year! We will continue to work diligently on Midnight Heist, we still have a lot planned. Many of you also contribute to our Discord server with ideas and suggestions, which we will take into account in the development.

Our current plan is to further expand player progression before releasing a new map and expanded core gameplay. With this update, we've focused on perks that will offer players a variety of new ways to play. The next map is already in work and will be released in the next content update!

[h3]Perks[/h3]
[hr][/hr]
These perks require a certain level to be unlocked and can be leveled up once they are equipped. Each perk can be upgraded to a maximum of level 3 and unlocks further or better advantages with each new level.


A maximum of 3 perks can be equipped at the same time. Each of these will be credited with 10% of your heist XP after each heist. There is also a maximum limit for some perks, as these are considered "team buffs" and we have paid particular attention to fairness for solo and group players. For example, there can be three players using a level 1 perk or just one player using a level 3 perk. It has the same effect and solo players are not disadvantaged.

In addition, we have added a workbench computer with this update, which will give you access to your perks and even more ways to improve your character in the future. Over time, more perks will be added that will change the way you play even more.



[h3]Stamina[/h3]

With the introduction of the perks, we decided to add stamina, which can be changed in a variety of ways with the perks. You can also return to the old way and sprint permanently, but not as fast as someone with a perk that allows a sprint with stamina. Please let us know what you think and try out the various perks for yourself!

Based on your feedback, we have adjusted the mission rewards and also the rarity level of the Black Market items to the difficulty. You now get more money by completing a heist and more rare items at higher difficulty levels to make playing on higher difficulty levels even more rewarding.



[h3]Fixed bugs:[/h3]
[hr][/hr]
  • Fixed a bug where the entities were not able to kill the players when they were in a locker or closet on Off World Technology
  • Fixed a bug where the missions on the hideout computer did not load before the first use
  • Fixed a bug in which a button in a hacking task kept getting bigger instead of smaller
  • Fixed coloring for some options in the ingame menu

  • The Christmas decorations have been removed

Christmas 2023 in Midnight City

Happy Holidays!


To round off the year, we have a small update for you that provides you with a new feature, various adjustments, improvements and bug fixes. In addition, we have brought Christmas to Midnight City!

  • Player noises UI display
    We have introduced a new feature that shows how loud you are. This should help you to recognize which actions cause noises and how loud they are. Basically: sneaking makes no noise, walking makes moderate noise and sprinting makes loud noise so that you can be heard across floors


  • New hacking tasks
    There are five new hacking tasks, which should provide even more variety in the rounds


  • More electronic loot
    There are a few new electronic items to collect


  • New christmas collection
    We have released a new collection, the "Christmas 23 Collection". In this collection you will find new clothes for your character and also new skins for your gadgets

  • Snow & christmas decoration
    We also have the weather forecast for continuous snowfall over the next few days!

  • Lowered requirements in operations for various challenges*
  • Payment & data size will now be different depending on the map size
  • Dead players can now see each other
  • You can now see your active missions on your infoboard in a heist by pressing Tab (on default)
  • Improved network code
*Note
Some of the operation missions now have lower requirements for completing the challenges, as they were sometimes set very high. However, this can lead to you receiving the message that you have collected more than required. However, this should be fixed by completing another round so that you can complete the challenge immediately

  • Fixed lights not flickering when near a entity on Off World Technology
  • Entities will no longer chase sounds outside of the building
  • Fixed glitching dirt on walls in the secuirty cams
  • Sticky notes are no longer invisible from behind
  • Fixed multiple collider clipping issues on Off World Technology
  • Fixed multiple loot clipping in drawers/shelfs on Off World Technology
  • Fixed tablet displaying the wrong floor number
  • Fixed a case where the mouse would not be locked after scene change

New Entities, New Map & More!

Hello everyone!


First of all, we would like to thank each and every one of you for all the detailed and fantastic feedback. You have a lot of ideas and suggestions on how to make Midnight Heist better and all of this feedback will be incorporated into our roadmap as we work with you to create the next level of co-op horror games.

With this first major content update, we focused on the behavior, appearance and animations of the entity. In addition, we created a new medium sized map and made QoL (Quality of Life) changes. We also added some small helpful features. Here is the update in detail:

[h3]New medium large map:[/h3]

For the solo players of you, the large maps have been a little tiring as they are really big and by the time the last computer has been hacked, you have explored the building once completely. With this new map of a failed startup, we offer a more compact level design with a completely different atmosphere and sometimes narrow corridors that can put you in a tight spot in critical situations if you're not careful. The interior design has also been adapted accordingly, so that in some cases very old computers have to be hacked.



[h3]Improved entities behaviour[/h3]

We have completely redesigned and massively improved the behavior, appearance and animations of the entities from the ground up. Not only do they now look more realistic and creepy, they also behave differently. The sounds of the entities have also been improved and reworked.

The view, i.e. the way entities see something, has also been massively revised. If you position yourself cleverly, you cannot be seen behind a desk with a monitor on it, as the desk covers the body and the monitor the head.

The entity spawn system has also been revised. The entities now always spawn as far away as possible and produce a very bass-heavy sound over a long distance when they spawn, so that you may be warned when it is there.

Improved sound system with sound occlusion
Many people have noticed that you can hear the Entity very clearly when it is above or below you, i.e. on a different floor. The flickering of the flashlight and the heartbeat were also triggered when the Entity was at a different height. With the new sound occlusion system, we have not only solved the problem, but drastically improved the atmosphere. Now you can hear the Entities' footsteps and screams muffled when they are behind walls or on a different floor.

In addition, all Entities now have a boost in the form of a 10% higher movement speed when the power goes out. Be careful when the light goes out!

[h3]Two new entities[/h3]

Furthermore, we have added two more entities that are very different in appearance and behavior to the previous entity. The three are now called: Karma, Nishi and Goryo. You can find out more about them and their behavior in the in-game guide on the tablet. But here is a brief overview:

Karma (previous entity)
An entity that can see and hear equally well. It has no special features, but is all the more a terrific all-rounder in the basic abilities.



Nishi
An Entity that can see extremely poorly but hear incredibly well. It probably sees less than your grandmother without glasses, but can hear over long distances and has the special ability to sprint quickly towards a noise.



Goryo
An Entity that is deaf, but can see very well due to its two-headed stature and extra pair of eyes. Has a great range of vision, but hears absolutely nothing. It has the special ability to sense hacking.



[h3]Two new hacking tasks[/h3]

We've added two more hacking tasks to add a little more variety. More tasks will be added with further updates.



[h3]Zoom function[/h3]
[hr][/hr]
We have implemented a zoom function that allows you to improve your view a little. Especially in the situation to read the code for the safe, some had difficulties, which are now eliminated with this function. Also useful for strange shadows that you see in the distance and want to zoom in to make sure what was just there.



[h3]Overview of the security cameras[/h3]
[hr][/hr]
We have added an overview of the available and already hacked cameras in the mission details (hold tab), which relate to the entire building. Another new feature is the display of the floor on which the hacked camera you are currently looking through is located. Thanks again for your feedback!

Added sneak toggle option
We have received numerous requests to make sneaking toggleable instead of always having to hold down the button to sneak. This is exactly what we have implemented!

Fixed bugs
- Fixed a bug where the light reflection was not updated during a power outage
- Player ghosts can no longer climb on tables

We'll be tackling the gameplay next by adding special selectable abilities/perks to make the player more powerful and adding more tasks to get more variation in the game rounds. More bug fixes - 04.11.2023

Last night's patch caused a few issues, which should all be fixed now. Sorry for that!

Bugs caused from last patch fixed:

  • The shop in the hideout computer works again
  • The money spent now also counts in the main menu shop
  • Safe & power box doors are working again
  • The locker in the Hideout works again


Other bug fixes:

  • Removed a bug where the building doors don't close all the way when spamming to open/close at the start of a hunt
  • Removed a bug where you could hear items falling at the start of a heist

Bug fixes & new stats - 04.11.2023

Bugs fixed:

  • The smartphone camera now shows locker doors again
  • Removed weird black dots from transparent objects
  • Potentially fixed yellow/green color randomly appearing on the screen
  • Fixed some loot clipping into computers
  • Fixed a bug that caused the player to fly into the air when crouching
  • Fixed stair collision in the hideout
  • Potentially fixed a case where the entity would spawn very close to a player
  • Fixed a desync problem with door interactions
  • Fixed more boosting spots on both maps


New:

  • Added stats for money spent & survived heists
