Open Beta Scheduled!

Hello Lords and Ladies!

This past weekend we completed our 2nd closed beta round and saw some excellent gameplay! Our primary focus during the 2nd closed beta round was to test the changes we made based on feedback during the 1st closed beta.

With the completion of our Closed Beta, we've revoked all the Beta keys as we prepare for our next testing round of RivenWorld, Open Beta. We will be hosting an Open Beta Weekend during the weekend of April 1st of, 2023.

If you want to participate, simply head to our main steam page HERE and signup to participate in our Play Test. More information on the Open Beta can be found below. We look forward to you participating in our open beta playtest and can't wait for your feedback!

When?
When: 3/31/2023 @ Noon CST (GMT-5) through 4/2/2023 @ Midnight CST (GMT-5)

How to Join?

Simply signup for our public playtest on our store page

What will be included?

We plan to include everything you can expect to see when we release into early access in mid-April.

Closed Beta #2 Announced

We're excited to announce that we're hosting a second Closed Beta this weekend on Mar. 18th, 2023 @ 9:00 AM CST (GMT-5).



When?

Mar. 18th, 2023 @ 9:00 AM CST (GMT-5) through March 19th, 2023 @ Midnight (GMT-5)

Change Log Since Closed Beta #1

- Overhauled the Inventory & Crafting System
- Polished the UIs
- Fixed world chunk loading
- Fixed world data corruption
- Added all the crafting recipes and resource nodes
- Added placed resource nodes instead of the random spawns
- Cleaned up the world, and made it larger with more areas to explore
- Added footstep sounds
- Added tree wind effects
- Upgraded the King's Castle to be better for RP
- Added AI Animals (Still working on this one)
- Fixed over 450 bugs that were reported by testers or found by our team
- Added volumetric fog
- Added volumetric clouds

Character Customization, Animals, & More!

Hello Lords and Ladies!

We're excited to share another update with you about RivenWorld and our progress in development. Since the last closed beta, we've been working tirelessly on overhauling our inventory/ crafting system to a new character customization system. Enjoy, and let us know what you think in the comments!

Character Customization


Once you log in to RivenWorld, you can create a 100% customizable character with over 1,000,000 variations available.

AI Animals


We've been working on AI Animals and developing their decision tree and AI logic. Currently, we have passive AI working with deers and plan to add different types of passive animals, along with aggressive animals and mobs, before release.

Up next will be ranged combat and connecting it to the Animals in the world.

Overhauled Inventory & Crafting


After the last closed beta, we saw a need to overhaul the inventory and crafting system from the ground up. Taking inspiration from Minecraft and games like 7D2D, players can now do everything in the inventory/ crafting menus using shortcuts. For example, Middle Click a stack of items, and it will split in half and move to the slot you move it to.

Usernames


Once you join RivenWorld for the first time, you can select a unique username connected to your Steam Account. This username will be used as your name in RivenWorld servers. We add our username system to help players have an identity in the community and on the servers they play.

Server List & Settings


We've been working hard to implement a server list system and a robust game settings menu.

Closed Beta Wrapup

Hello Lords and Ladies!

Thank you for a successful Closed Beta! During the Beta, we saw some pretty amazing things and what needs to be tweaked and changed in RivenWorld.



Once we launched our Beta servers, we saw a war break out between multiple clans for control of the Elders' Throne, and it was enjoyable to watch and see how everyone interacted within our game.



Throughout the weekend, we saw buildings from quick walls being built to houses throughout the map.



With the conclusion of our first closed beta, we wanted to lay out a roadmap and let you all know what is happening with RivenWorld moving forward!

  1. Improved Map, with fewer cliffs and more beaches
  2. Improved Kings Castle, with a better environment for RP
  3. Improved Inventory/ Crafting System, which is more responsive and cleaner to use
  4. New resource node spawning system (way too many rocks, lol)
  5. Proximity Voice Chat
  6. Animal AI
  7. Over 100 bugs fixed

We hope to test our server software and iron out any bugs or gameplay issues people find. We're looking for people that want to help test RivenWorld before it's released onto steam.

[h2]Will there be another Beta/ Test?[/h2]
Depending on how this one goes, we're planning to do a Public Steam Playtest prior to release. The play test will be to iron out any last remaining bugs and gameplay issues.
