The Last Werewolf - v1.0 Out Now!!!

[p]Hey everyone,[/p][p][/p]
Today's the day!! Version 1.0 is Live!!!
[p][/p][p]After years of development, The Last Werewolf has officially launched on Steam![/p][p]This morning marked the 1.0 release, timed with World Mental Health Day and the start of PAX Aus 2025, where we’re spending the weekend showing the game to players in person.[/p][p]It’s already been surreal seeing people connect with Lachie’s story, share their experiences, and spot themselves (or their friends) in his chaotic, heartfelt journey. And we’re only just getting started![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
The Last Werewolf
[p]A story about Bipolar Disorder through the lens of the supernatural. [/p][p]A story-driven interactive narrative follows Lachie, a young woman grappling with her newfound werewolf identity. Navigate her journey of self-discovery across three chapters as she searches for answers about who, and what, she is.[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
💚 Thank You 💚
[p]This game began as a deeply personal exploration of identity, mental health, and finding connection in unlikely places, told through a supernatural lens. Seeing it reach players and hearing your reflections has been an incredible experience.[/p][p]A massive thank you to everyone who’s followed the journey, from early demos and conventions over the years to those who came by at PAX Aus this weekend. Your encouragement, feedback, and shared stories have meant the world.[/p][p]And a heartfelt shout-out to the incredible creatives, collaborators, and cheerleaders who brought their talent and helped bring The Last Werewolf to life. [/p][p]An extra thank-you to Screenwest for their support in helping this project reach its full potential.[/p][p]You’re all absolute legends, and I couldn’t have done this without you.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Quick notes on updates in v1.0
[p]This update also includes a few refinements and fixes carried over from version 0.5.0.1:[/p]
 • [p]Added magazines to read in Chapter 2[/p]
 • [p]Tweaked dialogue box and several conversations between characters[/p]
 • [p]Updated controller information and intro note[/p]
 • [p]Upgraded Unity version (following recent risk alerts)[/p]
 • [p]Fixed issue where the book “Hunter” wouldn’t open[/p]
 • [p]Various other small fixes and polish[/p]

No issue found, so back to 0.5.0.1 before the 1.0

Hey all,

My jetlagged brain jumped the gun when I reverted. I didn't test the Steam build before reverting. With a refreshed brain in the morning, I did the test, found no issue, and figured the report came from before the hot fix (this version).

If anyone still comes across this, please let me know asap and give me as much detail as possible.

I will say: The Fates were on our side. By jumping the gun, I actually found a fatal flaw that would have gone out into the 1.0 build. So, the major crisis was averted by the minor hiccup.

1.0 will be out very, very soon. Just reactivating this now for those who might play it before then.

!!! So, so sorry! We needed to revert again !!!

That nasty bug has reappeared somehow, even after testing the fix before release.

While we combat this roach, we're reverting to the version before controller support. Fingers crossed this bug doesn’t affect the 1.0 launch in a couple of days.

Community Update #15
Hey everyone!
[p][/p][p]Here’s the latest update on what’s been happening, and what’s coming next, with The Last Werewolf.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Official Launch Date for 1.0 will be 10th October 2025
[p]The date is set: we’re exiting Early Access and moving into Official Launch 1.0 on 10th October 2025.[/p][p]Why that date, you ask? Two big reasons: PAX Aus Day 1 and World Mental Health Day.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Melbourne International Games Week!!
[p]Once again, I’ll be heading to Melbourne, Australia, to showcase the game. This will be the last dedicated showcase for The Last Werewolf before I shift focus to the next project.[/p][p][/p]
9th October: Games For Change Asia Pacific
[p]I’ll be showcasing the game at ACMI in Melbourne on 9th October 2025. It’s a fantastic opportunity to talk about representing mental health through games. The Last Werewolf will be on display between 9:30 am and 10:30 am, and I’ll also be giving a short talk on designing for meaningful play.[/p][p][/p]
10th - 12th October: PAX Aus in PAX RISING
[p]I’ll be back at PAX Australia this year, starting 10th October 2025! The demo (with the latest updates) will be available to play, and we’ll also have some cool merch on hand: colouring books and our feature item: enamel pins designed by Skye Wolken.[/p][p]Swing by and say hi![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
World Mental Health Day: 10th October
[p]As you know, The Last Werewolf has always been about more than the supernatural. It’s a story about mental health, identity, and learning to live with the parts of ourselves that can feel overwhelming. That’s why aligning the official launch with World Mental Health Day feels especially important.[/p][p]At PAX Aus, I’ll be raising money for SANE Australia, an organisation dedicated to raising awareness, providing resources, and supporting families affected by complex mental health conditions. As a thank-you, I’ll be giving out green ribbon enamel charms with each donation made at the booth.[/p][p]If you can’t make it in person, you can still support the fundraiser via the JustGiving website. 100% of donations go directly to SANE. Let’s see if we can reach the goal together: Fundraiser via JustGiving[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p] [/p]
Recent Updates in the Game
[p][/p]
Controller Support
[p]We now have full controller support! That means you can finally kick back with a gamepad and play however you like. We’d love your feedback on how it feels and if you run into any issues.[/p][p][/p]
Steam Deck Support
[p]Good news: the game should now be working on Steam Deck! If you run into anything odd, please let us know so we can smooth it out quickly. Just a heads-up, though, it’s not yet Steam Deck Verified, so expect a few things to still be under review.[/p][p][/p]
Achievements
[p]We now have Steam Achievements for the game!! You can check them out on the Steam page.[/p][p][/p][p] [/p][p][/p]
