Project Planet is now live in China!

Today we have a very special announcement!

We have already given some clues in recent months, but after lots of preparation and very hard work together with our local publisher and partner GamerSky Games, we are finally ready to release Project Planet in China!

China release

In China, we're thrilled to announce the launch of Project Planet under the name 我不背锅 (I Won’t Take The Blame), catering to both Traditional and Simplified Chinese-speaking players. This marks a significant milestone for us as we expand our reach into one of the largest gaming markets in the world.

Update 1.3

China has a massive and passionate gaming community, and we couldn't be more excited to introduce our game to this whole new audience. We look forward to welcoming new players to the community and reading about their experiences with the game. Together with our partner GamerSky Games, we're dedicated to providing the best possible gaming experience for our Chinese players!

In recent weeks, we already talked about all the features this new update will contain outside of Chinese translations, but check out the complete changelog here for the full list of changes!

Other Languages

If you're not Chinese but eagerly anticipating the game in your own language, you might be curious about what this Chinese release entails for you. While it may require a bit more patience, the translation of the game into Chinese lays the groundwork for future language additions. Following the rollout of this update, we'll get started on expanding support for multiple new languages as soon as possible!

Update 1.3 is live!

We just released Update 1.3, with lots of cool new features and the Chinese language added!

This introduces much requested Steam Achievements, an all-new Quick Game mode where you can play shorter disasters with only two stages, hot joining and lots more.

Read the full changelog below:

Changes:
  • Added Steam Achievements! A much requested feature, Project Planet now has over 70 achievements to show off your planet-destroying (or saving) skills to your friends!
  • Added Chinese translations to the game! Languages can be selected in your Steam library under Project Planet -> Properties -> General -> Language.
  • Added local servers for Asian players. Servers can be selected in the top right corner of the lobby screen. Note that players must have the same server region selected when logging in on www.projectplanet.tv.
  • Added a Quick Game option. If you’re short on time, the party leader can now enable this option to play a fast-paced version of existing disasters with two Stages instead of four. Quick games last ~20 min, but are only available for the Virus and Solar Flare disasters for now.
  • Added an option to “Hot Join” games. This allows players to take over an AI-controlled role after the game has already started.
  • Added an option to pause all gameplay when the options menu is opened. This allows players to pause the game when necessary. “Pause game in menu” is enabled by default.
  • Font change. Many texts should now be more readable.
  • Improved the visual layout of News Items.
  • Added a clear interface element showing increases and declines in Population.

Balance changes:
  • Nullifying all stage results as Planet Earth (-25% all results) now generates 6 Force, up from 4.
  • Amplifying all stage results as Planet Earth (+25% all results) now costs 3 Force, down from 4.
  • Nerfed Scientists in the Locust Plague disaster.
  • Nerfed Industry in the Influenza Virus disaster.
  • Slightly nerfed Media and the Public in the Hurricane disaster, while slightly buffing Scientists.
  • Slightly nerfed Scientists in the Asteroid Impact disaster.
  • Nerfed the Public in the Solar Flare disaster, while slightly buffing Earth.

Bug fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where some Public decisions in the Solar Flare had no effect on scores.
  • Numerous small fixes.

Dev Blog #21 - Update 1.3

Welcome back for another Dev Blog!

Project Planet is now 30% off during Steam’s Remote Play Together festival, but we’re also excited to share some more info on the upcoming Update 1.3!
Upcoming Changes

Updates 1.3 will contain a few much-requested new features, on top of the usual balance improvements and bug fixes. Some of the most exciting changes will be the addition of Hot Join and Quick Game functionality. In case you missed our last Dev Blog, you can read more about these features here.

Additionally, we're implementing a feature that allows players to pause the game simply by opening the menu. This will be especially convenient for those moments when you need to grab a drink or take a quick restroom break.

Last but not least, we’ll also be adding Steam Achievements! These will span a range of accomplishments, from winning with specific roles to destroying humanity before the final stage, surviving with a population of less than 10 million, and much more!

Expanding Language Support

We've received numerous requests from our community to include support for additional languages. Admittedly, our game boasts an extensive amount of text—roughly equivalent to the length of a Game of Thrones book—making this a very time-consuming effort.

Nonetheless, we're making significant progress and anticipate providing a more comprehensive update on upcoming language options soon. Stay tuned for further details!

Dev Blog #2024 - Happy New Year!

Happy 2024 everybody, and welcome back for another Dev Blog!

Today we’ve got some exciting news about our Holiday Hangover Sale and new features to be added to the game in update 1.3!
Holiday Hangover Sale

Now that we've filled our stomachs and put the Holidays behind us, it's time to look ahead to what the New Year has in store. And what better way to kick off the year than with a sweet Project Planet discount to ease us back into reality with the Holidays hangover fading?

If you missed out on the Holiday sale with all the other games on discount, don't worry. Starting now, you have 7 days to grab Project Planet at 30% off!

Quick Games

Sometimes you just don’t have the full 30-45 minutes to spare for a complete game. With update 1.3, we will be adding a feature we have wanted to add for quite some time now - quick games. This allows you to play a condensed 2-stage version of our existing disasters. We will start with two disasters, with more to follow in future updates. Our goal is to keep providing players with additional options to tailor the gameplay to their preferences. Stay tuned for more enhancements!

Hot Join

We're also looking to add another highly requested feature: hot join functionality. This allows players to seamlessly join an ongoing game and take over one of the A.I. controlled roles. This should also make streamers’ lives much smoother, as their audience can get in on the action whenever they join the stream.

Here's how it works: Simply input the lobby code of an ongoing session, choose your player name, and voila! Upon joining, you'll be automatically assigned a random role currently handled by A.I. Get ready to jump into the action without missing a beat. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting update!
