Outpath Devlog 5 - Decoration, Paint and Synergies šŸ”šŸŽØ

Hey everyone, I am back again!

Welcome to the 5th Outpath devlog, I will be showing the progress I am doing until the final game is released! This means the things I show here won't be in the demo but in the final game.

[h3]I have been working on a lot of things. Here are some I added/changed:[/h3]

Materials! You can change the materials of your builds with the chisel, this improve a lot the customization of your bases. Its really cool and satisfaying to use and play with!


Paint! Some materials can be painted with the new Universal Paint. You can remove paint with the water bucket.


New decorative parts! Once the entire progress of the game is done, I will be adding lots of new parts and other random utilities for you to play with in your base.


New builds and lots of new items. I won't show too much because I don't want to make spoilers...


Synergies! Now some builds can have synergies. This means new recipes will appear if they are build next to each other!


One last thing but really important and took me a lot of time to think and do is I finally optimized the game as much as I can/know (for now) and everything should work really smooth (if you don't build like 3000 builds in the same island, maybe then your pc might get a bit hot...).

For now the game doesn't have combat and I might stick with it until release. I might add it later on like with an update but I am not sure since I really like Outpath having this chill vibe.

[h3]I have been working on a lot of things. Here are some I added/changed:[/h3]

New mini biomes! For now I removed the mines for a more personal cave. You can change the biome with some items called "Lamps" and build things there. I still want to add some kind of mines, but for now they feel very bad visually and in the gameplay. These mini biomes have their unique items too!


More builds! I will only show 1 but there are a lot more new builds with unique effects.


You can now summon little helpers! And other things too...


New magic items, weapons, tools... More content in general!


More creatures like bees! (They seem like floating but its because its a gif)


And about the story, I almost have written everything. I don't think it will deeply move anyone but still is pretty cool in my opinion.

For now the game doesn't have combat and I might stick with it until release. I might add it later on like with an update but not sure since I really like Outpath being this chill.

[h3]I have been working on a lot of things. Here are some I added/changed:[/h3]

A new build, the Water Pump which extracts water from the sea.


Farming! You can now plant and grow your crops with water and fertilizers.


And what about the story? I added bottles with notes, read them and discover the story around you! It may be a bit cryptic but I like it that way.


This is your only friend during almost 70% of the game, so treat her well!

Now you can store items in chests! They are pretty useful, it's not necessary since your inventory is still infinite.


Now you can enter the mines where you can extract manually minerals and special items. These are hand-made levels, something like Stardew Valley. There are floors and you must go down to explore new areas and find unique items and materials.

Outpath Devlog 2 - Building & much more! šŸ šŸ’¤

I have been working on a lot of things thats why it took me 2 months to do the next devlog. Here are some things I added/changed:
  • You can now build your own structures like houses, rooms and much more! I want to add a lot of decorations to unlock so you can decorate your islands as you wish!

(This one is ugly but you get the idea)
  • I changed the building menu to the botton to centrilize everything more.
  • I added a new stamina/energy system to the game, adding a layer of survival to the game but not affecting too much the gameplay as many of you asked. Stamina decreases by swimming or breaking stuff, food restores it. Energy is the max stamina you can have and can only be restored by sleeping in beds or consuming some powerful foods.
  • Now you can swim in the sea. You will use stamina and max energy so becareful! If I have time, maybe I can add something underwater...
  • You can now pin recipes!
  • New changes to environment like dynamic clouds/weather, new island generation system & new light system (everything work in progress). I had to upgrade it but I am still not happy how colors and the general vibe feels so I will keep working on this.
  • Now you can swap items in the hotbar, so no more 'Unquip' & 'Equip' to reorganize your hotbar.
  • I added beds to the game, you can restore energy and time will move faster.
  • I changed the research menu so its more intuitive. There are only 4 recipes showing but there will be more.
  • I also changed the skills menu to show them better.
  • I added jars to the world which will spawn in different parts. Those contain the skills you can upgrade later with credits. To break them, you will have to give resources.
  • And finally I changed the inventory menu so more items can appear (still work in progress and not happy with how it is).

  • Adding Day & Night cycle as many of you wished and asked so here it is. This will bring more life to the world, new creatures will spawn, resources and much more!
  • I also changed the sky during the day and the sea water effects.
  • Improved performance in general.
