EMPTY SHELL special NEXT FEST Developer AMA

EMPTY SHELL will throw you in a dark industrial environment, a secret facility on a Japanese island. Each volunteer has signed a contract for a "recovery operation" without being privy to too many details. A tense roguelite survival horror with a top down perspective.

Friday's special stream will give you a whole hour and a half to ask any and all questions to the developer of EMPTY SHELL during the live stream in chat, and then join us to watch some gameplay going BEYOND the scope of the demo!

Watch the stream. Wishlist the game. Play the NEXT FEST Demo, and continue into the full version on October 16th! (Yes, the progress from th edemo carries over to the full game!)

Steam NEXT Fest is here- check out the brand new EMPTY SHELL demo!

Hey, everyone!

EMPTY SHELL celebrates Steam Next Fest, starting October 9.
To anticipate the full release of the game on October 16, 10am PST, a brand new Demo will be playable for the duration of the event. This will allow you to prepare properly for the full game, available right after the Next Fest ends. You will be then able to jump right into the full experience with a head start, as the Demo progress carries over to the full version.

If you played previous pre-release versions of EMPTY SHELL, you might be wondering what's new in the Steam NEXT Fest demo. Here are the highlights:
  • New reloading system: weapons now have proper mags, so you'll need to keep an eye on the bullets counter, if you want to avoid getting caught reloading in the middle of a fight
  • Secret rooms: every level will have one or more secret rooms, hidden behind walls, where you might find interesting loot. The DETECTOR is a new gadget that will help you find these rooms
  • Two new achievements
  • An interacting console that can be used to discover more lore about the Facility and the experiments that took place there
  • The Worm has a new design and a better behavior: still tough, but more manageable
  • The Shotgun has been re-balanced, with fair stopping power and a better distribution of the damage based on distance
  • The Laser Rifle has now a fairer charging time, that should make it more convenient to use

Again, any progress you make in the demo will carry over the full game: you'll be able to pick up where you left or start fresh, you choose.

Enjoying EMPTY SHELL? Make sure to add the full game to your Steam wishlist - this is the most welcome and effective way of supporting us, aside from purchasing the game day one, and reviewing it as soon as you know you love it!

Full Game Release Date

Hey, everyone!

So, this is it: EMPTY SHELL will be released on October 16.
After months of development, I am very happy to say that the time has come and I am looking forward to delivering the full experience to you.

See you in the Facility, then.

A glimpse of the woods

The island is heavily wooded.
Not all parts of the structure are interconnected with each other.
To reach the west wing, volunteers will have to cross part of the woods that cover the island.
