0.3 UPDATE IS NOW AVAILABLE!

Let's not pretend, in the last few weeks the whole Farlands team has been a bit hidden and not saying much. But it was for a reason: Update 0.3 is already available, and the amount of content it adds to the game is dizzying.

In this post we are going to review every single new feature that you can enjoy in Farlands starting today, and if anyone is hesitating whether to get in to play now, or wait a little longer, this update comes with a sweet 10% discount during the Steam sales.

With this out the way, let's get started!

ACHIEVEMENTS

One of the most requested things by the community; a very large list of achievements with objectives to accomplish, has been added to Farlands. In total there are 50 achievements, although since many of them cannot be obtained yet. Only those that can be obtained will be available on Steam, the rest will be added in later updates.

The achievement system is also integrated into the game, in one of the collections tabs, and connected to Steam, granting players the achievements retroactively.

TOOL UPGRADE SYSTEM

A classic of the management games, but that has taken us some time because of the complexity of the system.

From now on, talking to Gorg in Terbin, you will be able to upgrade your primary tools, by doing so, in addition to increasing their power, the tools will expand their range of action.

Using them in the mine is very rewarding.

FOOD

And just talking about the mine. A system that is more than necessary to be able to advance more easily and make the most of the days, is the food system, which from this update is now fully functional.

In the crafting machine, gathering the necessary ingredients, you will be able to cook different dishes to recover energy. My personal recommendation: Farmer's tea, although you have about 30 different dishes available to try out recipes.

HOUSE UPGRADE SYSTEM

And this is still going on, your house can now be upgraded by talking to Grubert, the carpenter of Galea. For a small fee and some resources, he will use his carpentry skills to fix and enlarge your house.

NEW FURNITURE AND INTERIOR DECORATION

And what to do with a huge mansion? Decorate it, of course. Because from 0.3 you will be able to craft more than 40 new pieces of furniture, and use them both indoors and outdoors. The sprites that have accompanied you at home since day 1, you can now remove them, they are now furniture with which you can interact.

GUESTS AND BETTER NPC

And if you visit Terbin to buy some of the chips needed to unlock the furniture crafts, you may find spaceships parked next to yours. These ships are from guests who have come to visit the system to have a drink, at the moment there are only a few, but they will be expanded with easter eggs, references and funny dialogues, a way to give life and personality to the settlement of Terbin.

And Terbin has even more things: Until now they were still sprites, but from 0.3 they will move around the town in random routes, bringing a lot of life to the town.

MORE STORY AND NEW CHARACTERS

Finally, a new story fragment is available in Galea, where you can also meet three new characters and their adorable companions, who were hiding behind the workers' fences, although that's best to find out for yourselves.

IMPORTANT

This update brings multiple new systems, so we expect at least a couple of weeks of bugs and inconsistencies that we will be fixing in small patches, even if Farlands is being completed slowly, it is still an Early Access. Nothing particularly serious should happen, but keep in mind, as always, that we will gradually patch anything that is buggy.

Also, one of the systems that was supposed to be added in this update: Weather, is not yet finished, so we have decided to delay it a bit, so it will arrive in a patch a bit later.

That being said, thank you very much for your time and enjoy the new update while we work on the next one!

The tool upgrade system!

Hello everybody! I'm bringing you a little preview of what we are preparing for the 0.3 update!

Although the last few weeks have been somewhat silent on our part, we are still working at 200% following the roadmap that will lead us to Farlands 1.0, and we are currently working on the 0.3 update, the first update that will bring major mechanical upgrades to the game.

The list of things that will be added is as follows:

- Dynamic NPCs that will change position and move around the village: no more static dummies.
- House upgrade system.
- Tool upgrade system.
- Indoor furniture and new system for objects that will allow you to rotate them.
- Food!
- A new story fragment.
- Weather.
- Preliminary achievement system.
- New furniture sets (both indoor and outdoor).

That's a LOT of stuff to add to Farlands all together, and we're working hard on getting it done. Until it's perfect, though, it won't be added to the game. In this update, I want to show you a little bit of the tool upgrades system:

With the 0.3 update, every tool will be upgradable by talking to Gorg, who, using his “skills”, will upgrade any of our tools by one level:

Once the tool is upgraded, it will not only increase its power (which will allow us to break rocks or cut down trees more easily), but it will also increase its range of action.

With these upgrades, getting through mines, clearing the farm, and growing fruits and vegetables can be done in much more effective and enjoyable ways (smashing your way down mines is incredibly satisfying).

With that said: we're keeping working! Some of the other mechanics are completely finished now and we are starting to consider possible release dates for the update, so stay tuned for more news in the coming weeks.

Thank you very much for your support!

Farlands update 0.2 is now available!

It's been two months since the Early Access launch of Farlands and the whole team is thrilled with the reception it's had, so we'd like to thank you for your support right from the start!

But even though the launch went very well, we haven't stopped working since release, and to date we've released no less than 17 patches with fixes for dozens and dozens of bugs!

On top of those patches, the Farlands 0.2 update brings some new content, a celebratory discount for those of you who are hesitating whether or not to buy Farlands and these new features:

Starting with the Ark, map and neighbors tabs in the main menu:

In the neighbors tab you will be able to see a provisional list of all Farlands NPCs, in update 0.4, (the update that will include the social elements), this tab will be updated, but for now it will be enabled as a list of all the characters in the game.

In the map tab you will be able to see the entire SR755 system, its planets, where you are located and how many fuel cells the ship has left, to know its location even if you are far away from it.

And finally, in the Ark tab you will be able to see all the collections of items you have donated, to keep track of your progress. And later on, you will be able to see your achievements, although you will have to wait a bit longer for that.

Along with these tabs, the main menu starts to show some information about each game, to make it easier to differentiate them and see where they are in the game.

The crafting machine is now upgraded!

Scattered around the stores, you can now find upgrade chips for your crafting machine. If you buy them and place them in the machine, you will unlock new crafting recipes.

And obviously, with this new system, a new set of outdoor furniture is added, the mushroom furniture set, which is crafted using mainly Bohr's moon mushrooms.

Finally, a new fragment of the main story has been added to the adventure, you will be able to unlock it by playing normally, whether you make a new game, or continue with yours.

Steam cards, badges and stuff!

Along with these changes, although outside the game itself, from now on you will get Steam trading cards while playing Farlands. With those cards you will be able to earn badges and unlock backgrounds and icons to customize your Steam page.

The update 0.2, is the update that brings less content of all the Farlands roadmap, this was done on purpose to make room for those first weeks of fighting against bugs and important fixes.

However, I hope you can enjoy these small additions and stay tuned for the next update, 0.3, which will bring mountains of content that will extend the life of Farlands a lot.

Thank you very much for your support and see you in the next update!

The 0.2 update is coming!

It's been three weeks since the Early Access launch and we've been working hard to ensure that the experience is as stable as possible in this period when the game is still quite young.

We have fixed dozens of bugs. While there aren't updates for every patch, we've gone from 0.1.0 to 0.1.14 That's 14 updates with fixes!

And now, although we are still working on fixing all the issues you are reporting, we are also combining our time with expanding the Farlands content, and the first major update, the 0.2, will arrive IN SEPTEMBER.

This update will mainly bring three things:

The missing tabs in the inventory.

That is the museum collections tab, the NPCs, the map and the messages system. Some of them will be in preliminary forms, but at least we will be able to unhook the “coming soon” sign.

Memory chips

Thinking about 0.3, which will bring interior decoration and house extensions, for now what 0.2 will have is the system for expanding the crafting machine. Using memory chips that you will be able to buy from vendors, you will unlock new furniture sets.

Cards, badges, backgrounds and icons

Along with all this, from 0.2, playing Farlands you will be able to get Steam trading cards, with which you can make badges and unlock backgrounds and icons. Let's see if you can get the reflective badge!

Of all the updates to come, this is the one with the least content of all. This is because we knew we would have to dedicate a good part of our time to fix the major issues, and because we were able to introduce some of the most important elements in 0.1 (the calendar, Larry & Barry and a few other things).

But from this point on, look forward to the next updates, because all of them will be loaded with new mechanics and content that you will be able to sink your teeth into.

Thank you all for your support and keep up the good work!
