This DLC was announced back in January 2024, and as it shuffles out of SCS Software's ever-busy DLC pipeline, it'll leave some coaches and a recently revealed trip to Ireland waiting in the traffic queue. The devs have also been doing plenty of cool existing area revamps.

[p]We’re excited to share a preview of some of the remarkable landmarks that await you in our upcoming Nordic Horizons DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2. From beautifully engineered bridges to the northernmost point of Europe, our team has faithfully recreated these real-world icons with a touch of Nordic magic! Let's check some of them out together.


First stop, The Hålogaland Bridge! Located along the E6, it is one of Norway’s most impressive modern engineering achievements. Officially opened in 2018, it stretches 1,533 metres across the Rombaksfjorden, making it the country’s second-longest suspension bridge. Its 175-metre pylons, sweeping cable design, and strategic role in improving regional transport links make it a landmark not just for its beauty, but for its importance to northern Norway’s road network. In-game, you’ll be able to enjoy the same spectacular fjord and mountain views that make this crossing a favourite among travellers and locals alike.[/p][p][/p][p]
Venturing inland, culture and heritage shine through at the Sámi Parliament in Karasjok, a striking modern building inspired by traditional Lavvu structures and serving as a proud symbol of Sámi self-governance. Further south, you’ll also find the historic Gävle Theatre in Gävle, Sweden, a beautiful 19th-century performing arts theatre known for its elegant architecture and long tradition of hosting drama, music, and cultural events. Together, these landmarks offer a glimpse into the diverse cultural fabric of the Nordic region, from indigenous heritage to classical Scandinavian arts.[/p][p]

And then, the crown of the Arctic: Nordkapp. Standing 307 metres above the Barents Sea, this dramatic cliff plateau has long been regarded as the northernmost point of mainland Europe. Marked by its famous globe monument, it offers sweeping Arctic Ocean views, midnight sun in summer, polar nights in winter, and a true sense of achievement when you finally reach this must-visit landmark.[/p][p]

Have you been a good driver this year? If so, you'll also be able to visit the world-famous Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, where Christmas cheer meets the Arctic Circle, yes, even in July! Sitting directly on the Arctic Circle, it's one of Finland’s most visited destinations. Be sure to bring your festive spirit when visiting here![/p][p]

Along your travels, you'll come across the Björnfjell customs station on the E10 at the Norwegian & Swedish border. While it may not top tourist lists, it has long served as an important mountain crossing between Narvik and northern Sweden. Surrounded by a beautiful snow-topped mountain landscape, this small outpost is an important landmark and stop for truckers![/p][p]

If you would like to take part in this Open Beta, we would really appreciate it if you could help us by reporting any bugs you may encounter in the appropriate section(s) of our official forums.[/p][p][/p][h3]Scandinavia Refresh[/h3][p]Update 1.57 for ETS2 brings the long-awaited refresh for the Scandinavia DLC. Our team has embarked on an ambitious refresh of the Scandinavia map expansion to create and bring the region up to the quality standards of newer map content.[/p][p][/p][p]Key improvements include: [/p]

• [p]A full refresh of the region with updated textures, vegetation, and road assets, alongside new rest stops and fuel stations.[/p]
• [p]A major overhaul of the road network: custom-designed junctions replacing old prefabs (notably around Denmark’s motorways and Sweden’s busy E-corridors).[/p]
• [p]New map additions, including the brand-new cities of Aarhus in Denmark and Karlstad in Sweden, along with a completely rebuilt Copenhagen featuring modern infrastructure and landmark recreations to enrich the network and scenery, and much more for you to discover![/p]

[p][/p][p]This update is intended to ensure that when players cross through the Scandinavia region en route to the upcoming Nordic Horizons expansion, the visual and structural transition feels seamless and up-to-date.[/p][h3][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]HDR Support[/h3][p]We are implementing HDR (High Dynamic Range) support in the game. HDR is a feature that enhances image quality, allowing players with HDR-compatible monitors or TVs to experience richer colours and improved contrast.[/p][p]Alongside HDR, we are also updating the brightness setup to give players more control over visual settings. This will include a dedicated setup screen where you can preview your brightness adjustments on actual in-game images, as well as an HDR Calibration feature, which lets you fine-tune the HDR effect using a simple slider.[/p][p][/p][p]For players using HDR-compatible displays, the feature will be automatically enabled in the game, ensuring you get the best possible visual experience from the moment you start playing.[/p][h3]Cursor Navigation Enhancements[/h3][p]We've also fine-tuned the cursor navigation experience. The cursor speed is now consistent across all screen resolutions, and the overall speed and control precision have been slightly increased when using a controller, making navigation smoother and more responsive.[/p][h3]Dynamic Cargo Loading and Unloading[/h3][p]The long-awaited dynamic loading and unloading feature is debuting in Euro Truck Simulator 2, bringing even more immersion and realism to your trucking experience.[/p][p][/p][p]Originally introduced in American Truck Simulator, this feature will now appear in selected custom and prefab depots across ETS2, starting with locations in the Nordic Horizons DLC and expanding to suitable depots throughout the base map, other map DLCs, and even a custom shipyard in Athens, Greece.[/p][p][/p][p]For the initial rollout, logging trailers will be the first to benefit from this feature. Players hauling Logs, Large Tubes, or Iron Pipes will see material handlers or crawler excavators dynamically loading and unloading their cargo. Simply position your trailer in the designated area, and the process will start automatically, adding a satisfying touch of realism to every delivery.[/p][p][/p][p]From sawmills and construction sites to steelworks and material stores, drivers will find plenty of opportunities to try out this new system. And this is just the beginning, our team plans to expand dynamic loading and unloading to more cargo types and locations in future updates. More information about Dynamic Cargo Loading and Unloading can be found here.[/p][h3]Scania R/S SUPER, 770 V8 + Smart Dash[/h3][p]The Scania R & S series will receive a major overhaul in 1.57, introducing the newest SUPER engines (420–560 hp) and V8 powertrains (590, 660, 770 hp) alongside Opticruise G25, G33, G38 CM, and CMR transmissions.[/p][p][/p][p]Inside, drivers can enjoy Scania’s new Smart Dash and Smart Dash Advanced interiors, available in several variants. On the outside, there are fresh customization options such as SUPER badges, sensor-equipped fenders, and official Scania SUPER and 770 paint jobs for both trucks and trailers.[/p][p][/p][p]Check out the Scania R & S Trucks Update blog to learn more.[/p][h3]Special Transport DLC Update[/h3][p]We have some thrilling new content for owners of the Special Transport DLC. This free update adds two massive new cargoes designed to push your driving precision and skill to the limit, perfect for those who love a real challenge on the road.[/p][p]Wind Turbine Blade[/p][p]First up is the Wind Turbine Blade, an impressive 30-metre load that demands full control and focus. Hauled on a 4-axle steerable trailer, this heavy cargo will test even the most experienced drivers. You’ll find this contract available from Rostock to Berlin in Germany and, for those exploring the upcoming Nordic Horizons DLC, from Jyväskylä to Vaasa.[/p][p][/p][p]Underground Loader[/p][p]The second addition, the Underground Loader, is a mining powerhouse that comes with serious weight and scale.
