Battle of Dunkirk: Aftermath

During the Battle of Dunkirk event, we have been keeping a war log. In this log we described the progression of the event from the German perspective. If you are interested in reading all about it, you can find it here!

War log: Aftermath

The battle of Dunkirk was unfortunately quite one-sided, the American armies won time after time during this event. We have once again learned much from this event, and believe we can set up an even better event next time. Having followed the events from both an American and German perspective, an event from the Soviet will be our third setting. But more on that later, in this blog we will take a look at some of the most interesting statistics of the Dunkirk event.

We really enjoyed holding this event and it was a lot of fun to keep a war log. We of course hope you enjoyed reading, but more importantly playing this event! We are planning more events like this in the future and with some changes, we hope we can make the next event even bigger and better!

Of course we also have some statistics to share!

Let us start off with the players per faction. This is the total amount of individual players that has played at least one battle on a specific faction in the Battle of Dunkirk event. If a player has participated in several wars, he is still only counted once (unless he joined a different faction). The numbers are very close to the previous event, on the Germans we see an increase of 1%, while on the United States we see a decrease of 1%.

Unlike the previous event, during this event we have looked at the spread of assault teams per faction. We can see that the United States has deployed the most units by far. A small thing to note is that these statistics include 'resupplied' units. A total of over 1,2 million units have been deployed and/or reinforced during the event.

The United States has been hard at work, beating both the German and Soviet faction by a large margin. The results are quite different from the previous event, in which the US had only a very small lead. Germany has participated in the most battles, almost 76% battles had German soldiers fighting. The United States followed with 72%.
The Soviets fought a lot less battles, only 52% battlefields were visited by men of the Soviet army.

Compared to the previous event, more than double the amount of battles took place in capital cities, a total of 248 battles. The Soviets took part in 134 of these battles. The Germans participated in 170 battles. The Americans, who fought the least capital battles in the previous event, now fought (and won) the most battles, with 193 participations.

Last but not least we have also looked at which capital cities saw the most combat. In this event mostly the city of Rotterdam and Prague saw many battles. But all across the map capital cities have been sieged over and over, only the cities of Rome and London have been spared this war. Several cities that only saw a handful of battles have been brought in under the name 'other'.

1.15 – THE WAR UPDATE

LISTEN UP SOLDIERS!

YOUR MAY UPDATE IS HERE, AND WITH IT A MUCH AWAITED FOCUS ON THE WAR!

THE WAR IS NOW AT THE CENTER OF THE EXPERIENCE

EVERY single battle, including staged battles, now counts towards the War!
The war map is now accessible for all players right before the battle begins, after it has ended and even when in battle. Open your map at any point during a battle and get info about towns and assault teams involved.

The ingame map also has a new feature: Access the map by pressing “M” and use your mouse wheel to zoom in and out. Furthermore, when in matchmaking you can see the war map and the ongoing battles including current faction territory.

BIPODS ARE HERE!

A long awaited community request that is now live. New Bipods for Machine Guns and Anti Tank Weapons have been deployed in the field. All LMGs and anti-tank rifles can be mounted. Press the “C“ key to mount and unmount your weapon. With the bipod deployed, it is easier to control your weapon; less sway and less conefire makes it easier to hit your target.

The old M1919A4 has been upgraded to the new M1919A6 model that comes with a bipod and a shoulder stock, and last but not least a better iron sight adjustment. This new version of the Browning Machine Gun also takes advantage of our new rendering, which makes the weapon look really good in combat.

OTHER MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS

A new “Very High” graphics setting has been made available with this update, improving the Level of Detail over all distances for textures, terrain mesh and shadows. This results in less LoD changes, providing smoother and more immersive gameplay as well as less work for compression algorithms when streaming or recording the game which is really good news for streamers too!

We have made improvements to the net-code on our backend which will improve client/server communication.

Weapon audio rate of fire sync, max shots sounds per weapon and other audio improvements have been added. Full-automatic weapons now have a much more even sound frequency.

REMINDER: THE BATTLE OF DUNKIRK IS RAGING

To commemorate the events of May 1940, we have started a new War event. This time we are giving the advantage TO THE US Faction + All players who win at least 20 battles during the event will be gifted a special limited edition 'wartorn' weapon finish. These are amazing and they will be rewarded exclusively after the event!

1.15 is one of the most meaningful upgrades for Heroes & Generals since the game launched, and marks the beginning of a refocus on the War, which is what Heroes & Generals is all about. This is only the beginning, we will iterate and release more cool features that will emphasise the War in the coming weeks.

Until then, get in battles and make it count for your faction!
Cheers
