Spell Disk 1.0 daily patches: Week 1

Hi all,
We've been postponing these update posts because we didn't want to hinder the visibility of the 1.0 version update post. We wanted returning players to see the major changes in version 1.0 rather than a list of small patch notes and hotfixes that followed. Now that the sales are almost over, we'll resume posting our patch notes as usual. Here is the compiled list of the changes made since the release of version 1.0:

Spell Disk 1.0a (March, 2nd)
  • Added an auto weapon spell mode in the Settings menu. You can now enable or disable auto weapon spell modes at any time.
  •   Fine-tuned and improved the logic and colliders in the inventory for smoother and more responsive mouse control.
  •   Fixed the repeated selection sound in the inventory.
  •   Fixed an issue where the weapon and outfit information would sometimes remain while hovering over an item, which occurred if you selected between two items repeatedly.
  •   Fixed an issue where the item info panel would not disappear while hovering over the expand slot.
  •   Fixed an issue where the memory gem's menu selection was initially not disabled, allowing you to click an invisible option on the screen to select a class.
  •   Fixed an issue where the auto weapon spell did not function as configured in the Architect's
  • Chamber. Now, summoning dummies will make sure to follow the setting of auto-weapon spell casting mode of your choice.
Spell Disk 1.0b (March 3rd 2PM)
  • Adjusted rendering order of Boss Canvas. Boss Canvas will now render behind the inventory or other UI.
  • Fixed some grammar and typos in dialogues and descriptions in certain languages.
  • Fixed typos in Yellow Blouse artifact and Fire Heart artifact.
  • Updated descriptions of items such as Gem Laser, Anvil artifact, Lightning Potency Disk to better reflect their current function.
  • First room in the Summoning Chamber will properly disable disk activation while walking up the stairs.
  • The Item Window panel that popped up while the inventory was closing (due to the mouse cursor moving onto the disappearing inventory slots) will be properly turned off.
  • Fixed a case where Circlet Blade did not disappear upon unequipping the artifact.
  • Fixed an issue where the Fire Affliction Disk was not being affected by Pyromancer Cap accessory's effect.
  • Improved graphics for heal on death modifier and adjusted its effectiveness. It used to provide a flat 80 healing to nearby enemies. Now it will give greater of 100 or 20% of max health--but it will heal with a slight delay.
Spell Disk 1.0c (March 3rd 8PM)
  • Fixed a typo in the level mod.
  • Fixed an issue with the Circlet Blade artifact.
  • Fixed an issue some enemies not dropping their designated gem amount.
  • Fixed some dialogues on certain languages.
Spell Disk 1.0d (March 4th)
  • Adjusted some random generation on item creation to remove certain bias on certain items.
  • Black bars on the boss cutscenes will appear below Player UI (regression on 1.0a fix).
  • Removed a deprecated function in the Key Configuration: Pause on Inventory. It was causing some unexpected errors in certain cases and was responsible for some issues.
  • Adjusted Scepter's charge attack creation / expire amount modifier, which was unadjusted like other weapons of similar attacks.
  • Changed the refund-all upgrade icon as it was sometimes mistaken for replay tutorial function.
  • Added 240 fps as one of possible options in the fps selection.
  • Added mouse-drag functionality to the scroll bar of Memory Gem.
  • Memory Gem build selection will not flick back to the mouse cursor position on selecting with directional keys.
  • Reduced visibility of ice affliction on player. It seems like the icon above the head did enough to indicate the elemental status.
  • Damage number in the spell item description will be updated according to its upgrades and others.
Spell Disk 1.0e (March 5th)
  • Fixed an issue the game would freeze when certain spells were spawned at specific location on shop / lobby.
  • Added additional description on how to challenge the Dungeon Architect Boss (Danger Level 4 or higher).
Spell Disk 1.0f (March 6th)
  • Fixed a typo in Earth Hammer.
  • Adjusted the name of the Architect Chamber in certain languages.
  • The refund-all upgrade option won't be interacted multiple times over several frames.
  • Spells' summoned minions also receive the spell visibility slider option.
  • The upgrade cost will be displayed below the key instruction if you have the "Instant Upgrade" option enabled. Since it was not possible to check the amount of gems when upgrading was instant, it was causing unnecessary inconvenience.
  • Adjusted Rampage Mode's walls; it is no longer possible to dash through certain parts of the wall.
  • Changed the displayed information in the spell details.
  • Fixed an issue that occurred with Dash-Through Items (disk, artifacts) with the Rampage Mode walls.
  • Fixed a typo on Poison Flask artifact.
  • Fixed an issue where the run statistic was not properly being reset when progressing toward
  • Rampage Mode immediately after exhausting loyalty.
  • Fixed an issue with the black bars in the Rampage Mode not hiding the Player UI.
Spell Disk 1.0g (March 7th)
  • Buffed Architect Outfit's effect. Dividing mana gained over many disks often made it appear like the outfit was not providing any mana to disks at all, so a flat mana value is additionally added onto disks as well.
  • Adjusted "...And More To Come!" default text comment from the beta days. While there are plans to add more features in the survivor upgrade, we don't want to appear as too promising as we aren't certain whether this new feature will come to a reality throughout development.
  • Adjusted the behavior of the Survivor Upgrade Chamber. It will show its panel only when interacted, rather than being near the object.
  • Fixed an issue where certain gem spells provided more gems than intended. To adjust for this change, slime gem accessory's gem requirement has been reduced from 30 gems to 18 gems.
  • Corrected order of damage manipulation before recording the stat for the damage dealt (shown in the damage dealt this stage). One instance of example being
  • Archer hat accessory. Its % damage change was applied after the stat for recording damage dealt has been recorded. It sometimes resulted in negative values due to the discrepancy between damage recorded vs actual damage dealt.
  • Optimized and adjusted the logic for damage and affliction dealt to summoned spell minions. While damage dealt was properly being adjusted, the affliction record was unaccounted for. It has changed since this version.
  • Negative signs will be removed from the damage stat.
  • Improved the responsiveness of the Survivor Upgrade Selection.
  • When closing an inventory while standing on top of an item on the floor, item information will be displayed again without having to exit its collider and re-entering it to show the information again.
  • Inventory Close button will return to the last selected inventory slot upon pressing down button.
  • Inventory selection will reselect itself if the player attempts to "click out" of selection state by clicking onto an inventory that is not a slot or a button.
  • Added highlight for expansion slot upon selection.
  • Fixed an issue with Cryomancer outfit and summonable spell minions.

Thank you for your continued support and thank you for playing Spell Disk!

We'll keep working on Spell Disk to further improve the game and bring new updates and features in the future.

  • Added Rampage Mode. To unlock rampage mode, you must defeat the Dungeon Architect three times. • Added new Survivor map: Lavaland.
  • Added new classes in the Survivor Mode.

  • Optimization of enemy attack objects.
  • Bunny outfit will work with Dash Duration disks.

New Trailer for V1.0 and Past Update Recap

Dear Spell Disk Community,

As we approach the March 1st PST release date for Spell Disk's 1.0 full version, we are in the final stages of content development and have entered the testing phase. We are extremely excited about the upcoming full release and sincerely appreciate your continued support. The exact release time for the full version will be announced a day or two before the scheduled date, once all details are firmly in place.

While preparing for the full version release announcements, we noticed that our game's trailer and screenshots were significantly out of date. As a result, we have created a new trailer for Spell Disk. You can watch it here or on the Steam Store page:

We also wanted to share the progress we've made during the Early Access phase of the game with players who are waiting for the game's full version or returning players who haven't played the game for a long time.

Here are some of the significant changes that have been made during the 100 updates so far:
  • New items: Added 143 entirely new items to the game, bringing the grand total to 515 items (512 + 3 "default safety fallback" items).
  • Outfits and Accessories: Introduced an entirely new system for equipping outfits and accessories with special powers, providing even greater build variety when strategizing your run in the Root Chamber. Think of it like classes and subclasses for your character!
  • Architect Chamber: Implemented an unlockable feature where you can view and load your past runs and bring your items into various new game modes that offer entirely new game loops.
  • New game modes: Added Infinity Dungeon Mode, where you can climb endlessly generated dungeons, and Arena Mode, where you can face endless hordes of enemies.
  • New biomes: Added brand new maps for the base mode and the survival mode.
  • New enemies: Added new bosses, new enemies, and improved existing enemies.
  • Game stability: Fixed various issues that might disrupt normal gameplay thanks to continued community support and bug reports. Additionally, reworked and improved the save file system to provide an extra layer of protection against data corruption.
  • Control improvement: Improved how the controls feel in the game. From inventory navigation to control sensitivity, the controls of the game have been fine-tuned to be more precise and smoother.
  • Accessibility: Implemented many quality-of-life or accessibility features into the game, such as adjusting the spell's visibility to be more transparent or adjusting the spell's volume level separately from other sounds. Added adjustments for flashing strength and other various features found in the game settings menu.
  • UI improvement: Modified and improved UI for better legibility and clarity because we aimed to get Spell Disk Steam Deck Verified for Spell Disk.
  • Compendium: Added Compendium to the game that allows you to keep track of how many items you've discovered or how your items performed in the past.
  • New weapons: Added new weapons.
  • Optimizations: Optimized the game extensively to reduce frame drops that might occur in extreme circumstances.
  • Story: Built up more anticipation and delivery for the overarching storyline of Spell Disk. The story will come to a conclusion in the new game mode in the 1.0 version!
  • ...and more!
Are there plans for an update after the v1.0 release?
We believe version 1.0 marks a great milestone for the game, but it is definitely not the end of Spell Disk development! After the release, we plan to further fix and optimize the game to address any extreme cases we might have missed. After the official version stabilizes to a state with which we are satisfied, we will keep improving Spell Disk. Afterward, we may roll out some experimental new features and content in the future if we don't face any unexpected issues.

Thank you for playing Spell Disk! We couldn't have made it this far without you, and we genuinely appreciate your feedback and support.

Spell Disk 0.9.5c update

  • Increased UI text size for the Upgrade and Recycle indicators.
  • Fixed an issue where the upgrade panel was not visible due to the fade-out sequence of the item information panel.
  • Changed the upgrade behavior. Continuously pressing the upgrade button now requires releasing the button to proceed to the next level, preventing unintentional upgrades. This adjustment addresses the issue of mistakenly upgrading items. The behavior for the instant upgrade feature in the game remains unchanged.
  • Changed the dialogue of certain texts from the boss, which some people may find inappropriate. It also reflects the most lore-accurate nuance.
