WEEKLY UPDATE!! 2/9/25

This week has been a productive one on the writing front—I’ve completed all of Liora’s quest and support conversations, and I’ve begun scripting her support conversation scenes in the game. I expect this part to be wrapped up by the end of the upcoming week. In addition to that, I managed to carve out some time during work to tackle various small tasks: I finally took care of a few miscellaneous images and character portraits that were needed to enhance some scenes, something I had been putting off for a few weeks.

On the art side, I finished the Dryusk Bad Ending scene, and you can catch a snippet of it here:

For those interested in a deeper dive, the full-resolution version—complete with alternate versions and an animated rendition—is available to all my $5+ patrons.

I also experienced a couple of rare, uninterrupted art sessions on Monday and Thursday at work. While I can’t share that work just yet, I truly appreciated those moments of focused drawing, where I felt completely free from outside distractions. Here’s hoping for more of these golden windows as the release date looms closer.

Until next week, everyone!

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 2/2/25

This week has been a bit of a mixed bag in terms of progress. While I haven’t had as much time to work on the game as I’d like, I did manage to complete a new bad ending scene—one where Mila meets an unfortunate fate at the hands of Kyless.

Let’s just say… she won’t be moving anytime soon.

My $5+ Patrons can check out the full resolution sequence now as well as an animated gif version of it!

On top of that, I’ve also been experimenting with something new that I hope the community will be interested in!

I’m still still figuring a few things out, but I’m excited to share more once the time is right…

So, how’s your week been? I won’t lie—things have felt a bit gloomy and stagnant on my end. But I’ve been doing what I can to stay inspired and keep a positive mindset.

This week, I sketched Tera again on a whim, and it was refreshing to create something just for myself. Here it is, in case you missed it:

So often, I feel like any time I spend drawing needs to have a purpose—whether it’s for a commission or for Crimson Veil. While I love creating art, it’s also time-consuming and mentally draining, which makes it easy to talk myself out of drawing for fun. Lately, with my limited free time and energy, I had convinced myself that personal art wasn’t worth it—but I’m glad I pushed past that, even just this once.

I’ve also been making an effort to connect more with mutuals and friends, and I’ve been revisiting old positive comments from the community. It’s been a great reminder of why I create and why making art is worth it in the first place. Thanks for sticking by me.

Until next week, everyone.

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 1/26/25

January has continued to be a challenging month for me both physically and mentally. It feels like there have been so many external factors eating at me and pulling me in all sorts of directions. I want to set aside time to focus, but all these things compound to me having little energy or drive. It’s moments like this when I’m so grateful to have a support base on my Patreon, as well as other places, who continue to encourage me week by week. It’s been hard, really hard for me for reasons I prefer not to discuss, but regardless, I press on…

This week, I updated the game’s database with some updates to items and weapons. There are a few new weapons for Edith and Lauren to pick up as well as a new whip for Mila or Ophelia. I also added in the new enemy data and adjusted their stats. The latest enemy that hasn’t been shown in full are the Petrified Puppets.

Indeed, Kyless’ petrified victims are in fact capable of moving to serve the gorgon’s will. They lack a variety of skills, but make up for it with raw stats. Petrified Puppets have an enormous attack and defense stat, although they are vulnerable to certain types of magic, so use that to your advantage! Should the puppet overcome Mila, they’ll drag her to their gorgon Mistress to be turned into a statue too…

I finished the sketch of that scene as you can see, and I’m working on the colors as of writing this. It will have a few alts when it’s done to show the petrification sequence! I also want to announce that I aim to release the next update sometime in March, so expect it then!

Thank you all so much for your continued support. Until next time, everyone!

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 1/19/25

This week has been entirely focused on writing. As I mentioned in my last update, my sister was in the final stages of her pregnancy—and the very next day, she had the baby! It’s been an exciting (and busy) time for my family, and while I’ve had little time to work on creative tasks, I’ve managed to sneak in working on bits of a new character design. It’s unrelated to this update, though, so I’ll keep it under wraps for now.

My biggest focus—and challenge—has been writing. Liora’s support conversations have been sitting half-finished for weeks, and I realized I needed to write the script for her quest first to give those conversations the context they needed. Most of today has been spent tackling that, and I’m happy to report the quest script is finished!

I’ve started importing it into the game’s scenes and, while there’s still more work to do—like polishing, writing bad endings, and fleshing out alternate dialogue—I now have a solid foundation to expand upon.

There isn’t much to share visually this week, but if you missed it, I did post some Castlevania fan art on Patreon and my socials.

I’m really happy with how they turned out, so go take a look if you haven’t yet!

That’s all for this week. Until next time, everyone!

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 1/12/25

Hey everyone! This week has been a bit of a challenging one, and I’ll admit it’s been hard to get much done. Monday hit me like a truck—I got fairly sick and returned to my day job, which was overloaded with extra work since it was the first day back after winter break. On top of that, I attempted to stick to the classic New Year’s resolution of returning to my gym routine after a few months off, but honestly, I just ended up feeling overwhelmed.

To add to the chaos, my family and I have been helping my sister as she enters the last stages of her pregnancy. It’s a wonderful time, but it’s also a big responsibility, so I’ve had hardly any time to focus on writing the script for the Dryad quest, which was my main goal for the week.

Despite all of this, I made the most of what energy and time I had. I cleaned up some visual glitches that were reported to me over the past week and added Liora’s dialogue and party events to the database. These tasks are fairly straightforward, so I could manage them even when I wasn’t feeling at my best. I also made more designs for the Dryusk, which I’m excited to share with you:

The last design I shared showed the Dryusk from behind, but now, with these before-and-after images, you can see more of the horrifying physical changes that occur when someone is turned into one. The Dryusk’s belly swells as it nurtures the Dryad sapling within them, which eventually takes on their form.

I’ve got the full resolution PNGs available to my $5 patrons now if you’d like to see a non GIF version:

I’m still working on the bad ending sequence I previewed last week, but since it has a few alternate versions, I wasn’t able to finish it in time for this update. My goal is to have it completed by next week’s update, assuming I can balance everything with my responsibilities to my sister and the baby. Family always comes first, after all.

The next few months are going to be a big challenge, but I’m committed to chipping away at this update bit by bit. Thank you all for your understanding and for your support—it means so much to me.

Until next week, everyone!
