WEEKLY UPDATE!! 8/6/23

Hello again, everybody!

This week, my focus was on Ophelia! She’s finally got a spiffy new sprite!

Modifying Ophelia as an event was a tricky thing from me to sort out. I’ve had to change how she works as an NPC to get her to work with the new Pet system that I added in the last update. For starters, Ophelia will be able to join you as a playable character as early as the start of Chapter 2. However, increasing her Bond Level will no longer change what items she has in stock. That will now change based on story progression, for balance reasons.

Ophelia’s Bond Level can still be increased by sparring with her. And speaking of which, her battles have been modified too.

You can now see what level Ophelia is when fighting her. Her level matches yours and with higher levels comes newer skills that she can use with or against you. This should make her a reliable training buddy throughout the course of the game.

I’m still writing her support conversations, however. This week has been difficult to sit down and concentrate on drafting dialogue, so I made progress where I could. Adding in newer party members to the game comes with a lot of work to the game’s systems. Things such as individual “most liked food/alcohol” values, date conversations, Pet progress conversations… Several common events need to be tested and updated. While I did create these systems in a manner that makes them easy to update, it’s still rather tedious and requires extensive testing.

But enough complaining from me… I’m going to try and get the remaining conversations for Ophelia done this week and then begin working on the updated Besilly Cathedral. I came up with an interesting idea for the place this week to make revisiting this old location feel fresh once again.

That’s all I have for you this week. Until next time, everyone!

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 7/30/23

How is everyone doing this week?

I’m back home after the recent pest extermination in my house and after all the cleaning was done, I was happy to be back in the grind of things. Here’s what I have to show you all this week!

In case you missed the announcement earlier, the game has been updated to version 5.2.2. You can download it now on Steam and Itch.io. This patch fixed the Dorian Manor Gemmare statue bug that was present in the game. You can freely update without any worry of it affecting your save file.

This week, I began writing Bianca’s support conversations. Bianca’s conversations will actually work a bit differently, as you cannot initially date her or take her with you as a party member. Since she is very weak, you’ll have to train her up.

Once you have completed a few battles with her, the next conversation will unlock, and Bianca will be a bit stronger the next time you spar with her. Bianca is planned to have the most support conversations of any other Pet, but I’d like to keep the details vague for spoiler reasons. I hope you understand!
Next, I have a two holy women to share with you:

The corrupted nuns from the main route have been un-corrupted! Similar to what I did with the vampire maids, the nuns now have a human form as well. Like the maids, they will also have a sexy bite scene when you defeat them.

Onto the main event, here are a few of Seraphina’s expressions, in full color!

She’s a quite a devious woman, with a black heart. How did she get into church work anyway? I guess you’ll all find out once you play. I hope you like her!

That’s all I have for you all this week. Until next time, everyone!!

Crimson Veil Updated to version 5.2.2

The update is now live on Steam and Itch.io! This patch fixes the bug where the Gemmare statue at Dorian Manor teleported you to the vampire route, while you were in the main route. Save files should be unaffected by this change, as no major scripts or events were altered. Please update your game as soon as you are able.

Level 4 Patrons who joined in July have not been added as NPCs as of this update and will be added in version 5.3.

For returning players, who have not played in a long time, you can use these save files to quickly return to the point where you left off:

If you enjoy what you've played, please consider leaving your thoughts with a review! Your continued feedback helps me improve the game with each new release! The support of the community has helped me grow this game over the past 4 years and it's only getting better! I appreciate any time you can give to share your thoughts.

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 7/23/23

Happy Sunday, everyone!

This week has been all sorts of complicated. We need to fumigate the house due to a pest issue and my home is currently upside down. It’s been a mission for me to find the time to sit down and rest, let alone draw. Thankfully this should all be resolved by Wednesday. Then I have to do all the cleanup that comes with these sort of house treatments. Not looking forward to that…
However, I did manage to finish something before this update went live! Here’s a look at the newest contract’s central character, Seraphina!

I tried to give her a cold, conniving look. Could she be a yandere character? It certainly feels like she could be. Her outfit is more explicit than Clara and Lily’s from way back in the earlier updates. Exploring her character should be a fun exercise.

In other news, I also finished Bianca’s new design! I’ve got a small teaser for you here, but you can check out all 8 of her expressions now, if you’re a $5+ Patron.

I’m very satisfied with how her outfit turned out. I wanted to give her a design that reflects how far she’s come from spending time with Mila and learning about herself. She’s more confident and self-assured, but there’s still that cute, wholesome side to her. That innocent side of Bianca is part of what makes her likable and I felt it was important to show that in her expressions. I have something special planned for one of Bianca’s scenes, so I hope her fans are excited!

That’s all have to share with you this week. Until next time, everyone!

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 7/16/23

Happy Sunday, everyone!

A big congratulations to Potomiani, the winner of the User Submitted Contest #9, for their submission of “Shattered Sanctity”! There were a lot of really close races in this recent contest, so clearly every submission had its fans. I would like to urge all that did not win to hold on to their ideas for the next contest! Consider a redraft or something that can make your idea even more compelling for next time! Also, be sure to check back frequently for updates on when the next round will take place! As for me, I’ll soon be getting to work on crafting Potomiani’s idea to the game!

On the game development side this week, I’ve implemented a requested quality of life feature, exclusive to the vampire route. The amount of BP (Blood Points) you’ve accumulated will now appear on your over world HUD!

(This feature will only appear in the vampire route, not any of the vampire bad endings, since it’s unnecessary. )

The BP gauge that appears on screen is actually a different plugin from the one I’ve been using for years and works separately from it (you may notice it fades away at a slightly different timing in-game). Even still, I tried to match the style of the gauge so that it wouldn’t stand out too much. I think this will be a greatly appreciated change so that players can better see how their actions are furthering their strength. It was never really clear to players that sparring with Bianca or Ophelia would grant BP, for example. The BP system is also now briefly explained early into the beginning of the route.

Oh, and I’ve added another neat feature which is available whenever you are playing as vampire Mila. If you have the “Bat Form” skill unlocked, you can now press PGUP to quickly turn into a bat (and back). I liken it to setting the bike to select in the old Pokémon games. It makes faster movement much more convenient.

Well, It’s back to work for me then. Thanks again to everyone who participated in the contest and I hope you’ll join in on the next one! Until next week!
