WEEKLY UPDATE!! 1/21/24

Another week comes to an end and just a bit more has been added to Fallholt! Little by little, I’m adding more party character interactions to the world. For example, if a player has Seraphina in their party and interacts with NPCs and certain objects around the Fallholt Cathedral, you’ll get some unique interactions with her! I’m sprinkling these little optional dialogues for players to discover and to hopefully encourage changing their party up every so often. In some cases, you can even earn rewards if you have the right party member with you!

Aside from that, I’ve continued to flesh out the Fallholt Center of Commerce, namely, the second floor, which not only contains additional shops, but also an area exclusively for those with a taste for blood.

Sinister Sip Street is a dark alley which provides a unique service for the undead citizens of Fallholt: Public Enthrallment.

Here, Mila can hire Helena, a public thrall of Fallholt, who for a price, offers her blood straight from the source. No Sanctusaid required! Visit her often, and she may even give you a special discount for being a loyal customer!

Public Thralls are closely protected by their bodyguards, as over indulgence is a threat they often face. Their bodies are altered over their various sessions and adapt to make them the perfect meal for a thirsty vamp. Their senses become heightened. Their heart beats quickly if they sense a vampire nearby, luring them and priming their own blood to be consumed. Even their blood’s flavour changes in subtle ways to be more appetising.

Of course, Public Thralls still enjoy the rush that comes with being bitten. In fact, they may enjoy it more than most.

Right now, I have Helena’s character portraits available to all my $5+ patrons. This preview is 26 alts, including uncensored nude versions.

I hope you all like her. This is an idea I had been looking forward to implementing since I returned to the Vampire Route!

That’s all I’ve got to share with you this week. Until next time, everyone!

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 1/14/24

Howdy everyone! To everyone else who had to return to work this week, I hope the transition back was smooth. Mine was okay, though I still wish I could sleep in until 10.

I decided to go back and edit the intro of chapter 3-V as I felt that the transition from the last chapter was rather weak. I also added an additional mandatory scene with Dorian before you are allowed to rest in the coffin to proceed. As it stands, he has very few worthwhile lines in the story, similar to Amber, pre-chapter 3 in the main route. He will be getting more presence in the story as it goes on.

I’ve also made an adjustment to sparring with Ophelia. For balance purposes, I’ve added a level cap for training. What this means is if you surpass a certain level while you are at a point in the story where it would be too high, you will no longer be able to train with Ophelia for BP. In chapter 1-V for example, the level cap would be 15. If you pass that, Ophelia will say she’s tired, until you proceed to the next story segment.

I’ve also added in a bit more for the new Slime Queen side quest. I added her cave somewhere in the world and I've also finished her sprite and character portraits. This Slime Queen’s name is Oozora.

I added a bit more weight to her design. I think it better distinguishes her as a Queen compared to the other slimegirls. I went for a motherly, caring look. As for her personality, well, she certainly has that going for her… as well as a few other traits some may see as… concerning. I have all of Oozora's character portraits available as a preview for my $5 and up Patrons. Check ‘em out, if you wish.

I’ve still got plenty to do, so I’m going to get right back to work! Until next time everyone!

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 1/7/24

Today’s my last official vacation day and it’s time to return to the daily grind of my day job tomorrow. Pretty satisfied with it overall. I got a good balance of work done on Crimson Veil as well as time with my friends/family and a few games off the old backlog. For this upcoming week, I need to start focusing on scripting more scenes since I’ve only really got the first one down pat. My game dev time has been mainly dedicated to art. In a sense, this is great because I get so many character ideas when working on the various character expressions. It helps me to better visualize key moments in the story or even come up with some on the spot. This week I can share with you a preview of a side quest I debated adding in later, but was so inspired I decided to throw it in now.

So, some of you who have followed the previous updates may have noticed something odd when viewing the preview of the northern overworld map. The slime cave on the eastern side has been surrounded by snow. Indeed, over the years the slime cavern has been snowed in and is a shadow of its former self. The place is littered with frozen Slimegirls.

Even the local slime rancher doesn’t know what to do. The man’s business is starting to run thin unless he can find a way to get the Slimegirls in the area resistant to the cold. To do that, he’ll need to find an item only ever carried by a Slime Queen. Too bad there hasn’t been a Slime Queen in the region for years… or has there?

You’ll be tasked with looking for the elusive Slime Queen to restore the rancher’s fading business. But, will Mila become a part of the slime collective instead…? Look forward to future updates. I can’t wait to share more of this character with you all.

That’s all I have for you this week. Until next time, everyone! Here’s to the start of a great new year!

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 12/31/23

We’ve reached the end of another year. This year has been one I have fully dedicated to working on the vampire route and not much will be changing in 2024, at least as far as the game is concerned. I’ve begun putting in place some of the early cutscenes for the new update. This includes the reveal of the latest threat, Sigrun Hellige.

Sigrun is an Estelle. They are an elf-like race from Edrestenn, with a natural affinity to light magic and an innate immunity to vampiric infection. Though the Estelle have been a secluded race for some time, they have resurfaced to create an alliance with Fallholt. Sigrun is not only a capable ranger with vast years of combat experience, she is also the Estellian ambassador of Edrestenn.

Sigrun herself is calm and enigmatic. She hides her true intentions behind a veil of calculated professionalism, making her a challenge to strike a simple conversation with. Perhaps she’s just introverted? Or could there be more to her?

I’ve completed her character portraits, so all of my $5+ patrons can get a better look behind the curtains of her personality. I still have more to draw of her, but this preview should give you an idea of what to expect with her.

With that being said, I wish you all the best in the new year! Let it be a year of progress and prosperity for all!

Until next week everyone. Happy New Year!

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 12/24/23

Happy early Christmas to anyone who celebrates! It seems like time flies faster and faster with each passing year. In fact it was nearly a year ago today that Crimson Veil made it’s Steam debut. I remember that made for an extra stressful holiday gathering, as I had to make sure everything was ready to post by 8, you know, near dinner time… That’s why I’ve gone ahead and prepared this update ahead of time!

I don’t know how the weather has been where you live, but here at home, the weather has been lovely. It’s finally cozy sweater season! And speaking of sweaters, here’s a sketch of a depressed looking woman in an oversized sweater.

She’s probably not thinking about the holidays, but there’s definitely something familiar about her…

I’m continuing to chip away at the small touches in Fallholt, the star of this update. Near the residential area, you’ll find a shifty looking man who has allegedly taught a Wight how to speak! Though her speech is rudimentary, it’s still a large enough attraction to draw a small crowd. The man has named her Muddy, after her manner of speaking.

I have all of her character portraits available as a preview for my $5 and up Patrons. Check them out if you're interested (or if you just want to get me a Christmas gift XD).
