Warframe's Call of the Tempestarii update arrives with a kickass space shanty

Warframe's much-anticipated Call of the Tempestarii arrives today, bringing with it some of the biggest changes the space-ninja MMORPG has seen in years. Along with a new questline that takes place out in the newly revamped Railjack space, Call of the Tempestarii introduces Sevagoth, the 46th warframe, and an absolutely badass space pirate sea shanty.

In Call of the Tempestarii, you'll be traveling across the Corpus Proxima, exploring a sector ripped apart by war alongside the Railjack AI Cephalon Cy. You'll travel through dangerous void storms, battle all new Corpus bosses, and investigate "ghostly disturbances" in the eerie questline.

We've gotten a pretty good rundown of the changes coming in this update thanks to Digital Extremes' dev workshop update, but today the studio has pulled everything together with a launch trailer that includes the aforementioned space shanty. The trailer only features a few bars of the tune, but just based on that we can already tell it's another genuine banger - I like this one even more than 'We All Lift Together,' the work-gang tune that accompanied the release of the Fortuna expansion back in 2018.

CORPUS PROXIMA AND RAILJACK RETROFIT

Gather your Crew and prepare for takeoff, Tenno. Railjack has undergone a serious retrofit to make it easier than ever to jump into the Corpus Proxima!

The Corpus Proxima, the area of deep space around Venus, Neptune and Pluto, is waiting to be explored. Each new planet’s Proxima offers new Mission nodes, new enemy fighters to dogfight, new enemies to battle aboard Capital Ships and new points of interest.

Two new Railjack Mission types are also available: Orphix and Volatile Missions. Tenno who have played Operation: Orphix Venom will know how best to take on the Sentient threat in Orphix Missions to earn Arcanes. Volatile Missions will challenge Squads to infiltrate a Capital Ship to sabotage it from the inside.

VOID STORMS

The Corpus Proxima is a volatile and dangerous place, and that was before the Corpus fleet arrived! Void Storms run rampant in deep space and wherever the storm goes, chaos is sure to follow.

Void Storms will affect the performance of your Railjack, upping the difficulty substantially, as well as offering new opportunities for Rewards! You’ll also be able to open Relics in Void Storms, giving you new ways to earn Prime gear.

Warframe's huge Corpus Proxima update is out now

It's here, at long last: one of Warframe's most significant updates in years, Corpus Proxima and the New Railjack, has arrived. The update brings with it big changes to the way the space MMORPG's Railjack system works, reducing the amount of grind and weaving ship-to-ship Railjack gameplay together with Warframe's more traditional high speed space ninja action.

We ran through most of the updates coming with Corpus Proxima and the New Railjack earlier this month when developer Digital Extremes published its latest Dev Workshop post about it. In that, the team explains how Railjack has been changed to give players more control over what they're doing during Railjack gameplay, even if they're crewing another player's ship. You'll no longer need to own either a drydock or dojo in order to have a Railjack ship, and the Railjacks themselves have been redesigned to be more compact and fun to fly.

"Integrating some of our players' favorite gameplay, like Necramechs, and adding new core Warframe modes, into this new update transforms Corpus Proxima & The New Railjack into something more unified and essential," Digital Extremes COO Sheldon Carter says. "This update is so incredibly diverse!"
