NEW OPEN WORLD: HEART OF DEIMOS

There is a sinister mystery lying underneath Deimos, hiding from even the Entrati and the Infestation that has overtaken the entire moon. We can’t wait for you to experience everything Heart of Deimos has to offer:

- Explore a new open world; a hauntingly-beautiful landscape festering with Infested enemies, the dark Entrati and sights unseen in ever-changing underground cave networks.
- Harness the power of the Void with the Community-designed Xaku, the second-ever Warframe to be designed by the Tenno!
- Customize your Warframe like never before with the Helminth Chrysalis system. Feed the Helminth a Warframe to absorb a signature Ability and transfer it to another Warframe.
HELMINTH CHRYSALIS SYSTEM
Arriving with Heart of Deimos is the Helminth Chrysalis system, a brand-new way to customize your Warframe’s Abilities. Feed the Helminth resources to unlock a new suite of Abilities, or allow the Helminth to consume a Warframe whole to extract one Ability to infuse into another.
XAKU, THE BROKEN WARFRAME
Introducing the Broken Warframe, Xaku, the second Community-designed Warframe! Held together by Void energy and designed from the ground up by you, our community. You chose the theme and Abilities for a broken, Void-corrupted powerhouse and then it was our job to bring them to life.

Xaku’s Abilities are all about manipulating Void energy. Xaku has the power to infuse their Weapons with Void energy, buffing their damage. Few can resist the pull of the Void, and Xaku wields its energy to trick enemies into fighting for them, or even turning enemy Weapons against them!

Warframe's Heart of Deimos lets you pilot undead mechs

Early on in Warframe's upcoming Heart of Deimos expansion, you'll be warned about the Necramechs - the ones left on the infested Martian moon of Deimos have reverted to their "autonomous kill precepts" and will attack you on sight. Fortunately, these hulking biological mechs aren't all bad - you'll be able to pilot your very own as you make your way through the Heart of Deimos story missions.

Once acquired, your Necramech will function similarly to your Archwing unit - you'll be able to customise and upgrade it on its own loadout screen in your Orbiter. Plus, you'll be able to call on it any time you're in an open world area - whether that's the new Cambion Drift area on Deimos, or the Plains of Eidolon or Orb Vallis open world zones already present in Warframe.

Developer Digital Extremes says it doesn't want to give too much away about the backstory of the Necramechs just yet - you'll have to learn about that by playing through the story. But what we saw in the keynote presentation at TennoCon 2020 makes us eager to hop aboard one of these fleshy Gundam units ourselves.

Warframe's Heart of Deimos takes us to a new infested open world

Warframe is preparing to launch its next big expansion, the Heart of Deimos, and with it comes the spacefaring MMO's third big open world zone. Deimos, Mars' second moon, is completely choked with Infested growth, and a new questline takes you there to discover what's brought Deimos back into the solar system and prevent an interdimensional catastrophe.

Developer Digital Extremes announced the Heart of Deimos release date at TennoCon 2020 today, and it's coming soon: the expansion will launch on all platforms - a first for Warframe - August 25. When it arrives, we'll be able to look forward to exploring one of the most interesting, as well as most disgusting, environments that Digital Extremes has created to date.

The Deimos open world zone is called the Cambion Drift. It's a combination of a hand-crafted surface layer that's noticeably more vertical than the Plains of Eidolon and the Orb Vallis areas introduced in years past, and a semi procedurally generated network of tunnels underground. Everywhere you look, the Infested's biological rot can be seen in the form of brown connective tissue and glowing orange boils.

Warframe's next update lets you recycle old warframes and equip their abilities

Warframe's next big expansion is adding a whole new layer of customisation for your space ninja toolbelt. With the arrival of Heart of Deimos, you'll be able to recycle old warframes to use their powers with the warframes you rely on most, but you'll have to be willing to part ways permanently with the old suits.

Heart of Deimos introduces the Helminth Chrysalis system, which developer Digital Extremes revealed at TennoCon 2020. Warframe players will already be somewhat familiar with the Helminth, which is an organism that lives aboard the Orbiter and up until now has only manifested itself in various growths and the Helminth cysts that grow on infected warframes.

Well, Heart of Deimos will be letting us come a bit more face to face with the Helminth in the free to play game. When you head back to the infirmary, you'll find a massive Little Shop of Horrors style mouth protruding from the back wall, as well as a new area of infestation just to the left. By sacrificing an old warframe to the Helminth and keeping its 'secretion' meters topped off, you'll be able to harvest one of the old warframe's powers for use in other warframes.
