Warframe's next big expansion is adding a whole new layer of customisation for your space ninja toolbelt. With the arrival of Heart of Deimos, you'll be able to recycle old warframes to use their powers with the warframes you rely on most, but you'll have to be willing to part ways permanently with the old suits.

Heart of Deimos introduces the Helminth Chrysalis system, which developer Digital Extremes revealed at TennoCon 2020. Warframe players will already be somewhat familiar with the Helminth, which is an organism that lives aboard the Orbiter and up until now has only manifested itself in various growths and the Helminth cysts that grow on infected warframes.

Well, Heart of Deimos will be letting us come a bit more face to face with the Helminth in the free to play game. When you head back to the infirmary, you'll find a massive Little Shop of Horrors style mouth protruding from the back wall, as well as a new area of infestation just to the left. By sacrificing an old warframe to the Helminth and keeping its 'secretion' meters topped off, you'll be able to harvest one of the old warframe's powers for use in other warframes.

Warframe devs reveal three new warframes coming in 2020

Digital Extremes has given some details on three new additions to the Warframe roster set to arrive before the end of 2020. The reveals came during the Art of Warframe panel that opened this year's TennoCon.

The warframes are Xaku, a "Frankenstein-type", the "mad scientist" Alchemist, and Wraith. While each is its own unique creation, they do all carry a unifying theme - they all started as fanart. In Xaku and Alchemist's cases, the original creators were involved on a freelance basis as Digital Extremes brought the characters into the space game, but for the other, things went even further. Wraith's designer, Liger Inazuka, is now a full-time artist at the studio, designing in-game skins, and had pitched Wraith to the team a number of times before getting the go ahead. Some details were given for each, as the line-up broke down a little of what players can expect when these are rolled out. Xaku's armour has custom movement, and its signature weapon will be a Warfan. Alchemist's powers will involve, well, alchemy, and some detachable serpents on their body, and Wraith will have a sniper-like secondary weapon. The only suggestion towards a release schedule was that Alchemist will follow Xaku.
